MisterCrow  [author] 25 Oct, 2022 @ 12:43am
@Moffle Pendragon: It's the default colour on the colour palette (it's not a custom colour).

Thanks Diemex.PP, glad you like :)

This is always my first goto CV. I outgrow it by later mid game but in terms of utility and cost its the best I've seen... and looks pretty slick too.

Sweet CV. Thanks! Currently I'm modifiying it make it more combaty. With your permission I'll post it when its done.

You're welcome, I actually saw that in your list. I really liked though, that all your most recent ships had a "design language" like they all came from the same manufacturer. That they share a design, a color scheme, etc and thought it would be neat to see a version of the Nova that was a bit more armed and armored to sorta /round/ out your portfolio.

Anywya, ignore me, just a fan of your recent work, Nova, Thanatos, Turtleback, Hound, Hive, etc. Thanks for sharing them with us, I've added them all to my collection and I look forward to more in the future. :)
MisterCrow  [author] 23 Nov, 2018 @ 12:55am
Thanks RayneCloud :)

TBH I'm not very good at designing combat CV's (and I don't really use them in survival), but I did make one a while back - https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=936920904 but I've not updated it since alpha 6 (probably still works fine though).
Also, big CV's take ages, and ages for me to design and build. I amy do in the future if I get enough time :)

I really love your design asthetic MC. Here's something I wanted to share with ya, https://i.imgur.com/K2bZbgM.jpg , thanks for designing a "Fleet." Any chance you might look at like a new sort of combat cruiser, like a heavier version of the Nova?

A great starter CV, Later on I did add mining lasers to the front and it rips through rocks
MisterCrow  [author] 16 Oct, 2018 @ 6:33am
Thanks Hexatron :) Great to hear that it still works well when upgraded!

If you want some tips on design, I highly recommend reading something Pyston posted in the comments section of one of his designs ( here ). What he says is absolutely true. I have a Pinterest account where I search around for design ideas I like and I study other people's designs in detail to get inspiration for my own - Pyston's work is excellent for this, as everything is so heavily detailed. It's all about the detail! Play around with stuff and be brutally honest with yourself - if you don't like what you've built, don't be afraid to rip it down and start again.
Hexatron 16 Oct, 2018 @ 5:06am
Thanks for answering that. Really like your design there. Stuff i build tend to look blocky and ugly, even when i try to make them look nicer. Guess i am more of a practical type than a designer type.

On a sidenote: even when the hull is fully upgraded to hardened steel, it still performs and turns really well. Would say thats another point that speaks for a good design, that it is even more upgradeable than you may have imagined.

continued...

Thirdly; I simply like the (optional) look and ease of having a constantly open hangar door and deployed ramp when the ship is landed!

At the end of the day, I decided to do this because it suits my own playstyle. In an ideal world, It'd be great if you could get the sensors to trigger based on what object is in its proximity. So for example, only the hangar doors open if an SV is in proximity, but the hangar doors and the ramps deploy if an HV is in range. Perhaps if a player on foot is nearby, neither of them deploy.
MisterCrow  [author] 16 Oct, 2018 @ 4:19am
@Hexatron: Thanks for asking :)

Firstly; if you're flying an SV into / out of the hangar, you don't need the ramp, and I felt it looked silly having a ramp deploy when loading / unloading SV's - especially if the CV isn't grounded.

Secondly; I found that the ramp deploying based on player proximity (when on foot) to the ship annoying - If you walk round the back, the ramp deploys, which can get in the way of where you're walking. I could walk round it, out of the sensor range, but then when I want to load an HV, I have to get really close to trigger the ramp, which causes minor issues with it hitting my HV and me having to wait for it to deploy.

...
Hexatron 16 Oct, 2018 @ 3:46am
Out of curiosity, why did you make the ramps at the back an extra switch, instead of packing it onto the Hangar Signal as well?

I like the low level build, with the upgrade area setup for later level characters . Smart build, good job.

@Lithoboli & Generalzoadka:
Thanks for the positive feedback :)
Orcus 6 Oct, 2018 @ 3:58pm
AFter very slight modifications I am able to fit my medium sized SV inside the hanger with no problems, this is exactly the kind of ship i was looking for. Thanks so much for your work <3
Senitro 5 Oct, 2018 @ 5:24am
Nice Job, These Pads/Hangars in my collection will be able to accommodate your ship for repairs and can be used for spawning it.

I can't fault this design, economical, functional and compact.
Only change I made was cannon turrets out of personal preference.
MisterCrow  [author] 4 Oct, 2018 @ 12:40pm
Thanks Fractalite! Glad you're enjoying it :)
Fractalite 4 Oct, 2018 @ 7:26am
Damn Crow, you hit it out of the park with this! Outstanding work! I will use this in my next playthrough. :steamhappy:

Thanks jrandall!

Have downloaded loads of your designs recently and am in awe of them! Really fantastic work!

Very nice ship! Excellent work!

@Arisaema:
Thanks! Indeed I've thought a lot about Core placement. However I can't find anywhere else I want to put it. Besides, I've moved it back a bit and added some more steel blocks around it, so it should now be better protected. The two new turrets should provide better protection for it too.
In any event, this is not a combat vessel, so core placement shouldn't be too much of an issue.

@SullyEnza:
Thanks! Hell yeah!

@Everyone else:
Thanks for your kind comments :)
SullyEnza 3 Oct, 2018 @ 10:00pm
@MisterCrow nicely done bud. small, simple, effective. thumbs up mano! i notice you do the same thing i do, remain in the same color scheme.. i dig it!
dpburke2 3 Oct, 2018 @ 9:43pm
Another beautiful design. And, yes, I did "rate up / favourite".
Arisaema 3 Oct, 2018 @ 5:41pm
Very nice design. I may suggest moving the core away from the nose of the vessel though.
Tomash 3 Oct, 2018 @ 10:36am
I am a big fan of small Capital Vessels and I really like this design. Good job, Thumb up!
MisterCrow  [author] 3 Oct, 2018 @ 7:49am
Thanks Lee Andrew! You can always spawn the vessel into creative and modify the colours to your liking. I like to keep my designs to a set colour theme :)
Alastria 3 Oct, 2018 @ 4:39am
Not a fan of the color (brown / orange / copper) but I love the design and the layout of the ship, very well done! Our server will be wiping soon so I was looking for an early starter CV like the Carapace from JRandal, but I wanted something different this time and I found it! :) Thanks for sharing!

Very nice CV. I like the shape the use of textures and the details inside and out. Thank you for sharing.
