Does not work with world ablaze mod, it would be nice if you could update it to work.

Anyone not able to get Australia's commanders?
Günter_der_Große III 28 Aug, 2023 @ 9:57pm

@Fart Shartley
common\characters\POL.txt

should be
name=POL_roman_abraham

you put
name= "roman abraham"

which cause the translation issue

minor mistake, love your mod

Mod crashes the game on startup

When using this mod, Petain can not be vichy france leader. Is this a bug?
MaxRavenclaw 11 Apr, 2023 @ 6:53am
It seems this mod breaks Italy's 1936 start. I've managed to narrow it down as the one that somehow prevents the first Mussolini mission from firing, so you can't do the national focuses related to Ethiopia that ultimately let you direct the country politically. Not sure why.

Would it be possible to make an EAW version of this?
napamathguy 27 Dec, 2021 @ 4:07pm
Could something similar be done with admirals?

@A181B not sure, will be doing a round of checks and updates next week

1.11.1 Compatible?
Didi Mocó 2 Jul, 2021 @ 5:21pm
i think this is rt56 compatible, i hope tho.
Fart Shartley  [author] 11 Jul, 2020 @ 8:34am
@larrythexii Sounds like the HoI 4 launcher is struggling to detect mods again - it affects a bunch of mods seemingly at random, and is a launcher issue, rather than a mod one.

Sometimes you need to launch the game without the mod first, and then close it from the main menu - I'm not entirely sure what this does, but it was advice PDX gave when we were given the new launcher in the 1.8 update.

You can also try unsubscribing and re-subscribing to force steam to re-acquire the files - that sometimes fixes the issue as it also forces the launcher to check workshop files again.

If that doesn't work, another solution I've seen floating around is to go to the folder "C:\Users\YourName\Documents\ParadoxInteractive\Hearts of Iron IV", and delete the "mods" folder as well as mods_registry.json. This forces steam to download all of your subscribed mods again, and force another refresh of the launcher.

Tried to use the RT56 compatible one posted below, says it is missing descriptor file and wont work.
Fart Shartley  [author] 20 Jun, 2020 @ 5:18am
yes, I'm afraid its unique commanders only that has the incompatibility issue - I'd need to remake this mod from the ground up to fix the conflicts in the history files.

That being said, there is code in the game to retire, and even demote generals, meaning that it should be possible to create a system to allow the dismissing, and re-organisation of field marshals and generals. So it is possible for it to be modded into the game. I might take a look into it if no-one else has
Oorestis 19 Jun, 2020 @ 1:24pm
I don't mind using the other version its just I was hoping in avoiding getting cramped up with loads of generic generals, unless you might also know a mod that enables you to delete/dismiss generals, cause so far I haven't found one. In general Hoi4 has a lot of problems I think, I have lost count to how many campaigns I just abandoned in the past because of this General problem and the lack of features.
Oorestis 19 Jun, 2020 @ 1:05pm
I see, so it is this unique commanders only that has an issue? the other one works?
Did you try this one as well?

Fart Shartley  [author] 17 Jun, 2020 @ 6:43am
Thanks for the extra information. I tested my original posting of the mod (the one that includes generic generals) to make sure it was compatible with RT56 a long time ago when I originally posted it. ran a quick test with it today and it seems to be working for me - used it as the Netherlands to integrate both the generals that the Dutch East Indies start off with, as well as all of the Belgian generals (one of the Belgian Generals does not have a portrait - that's a RT56 bug)

You can try it out here:

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1530292604

Let me know if that works for you.
Oorestis 16 Jun, 2020 @ 4:14am
Well I did test your mod with other nations and same thing keeps happening, seems the problem was your mod isn't compatible at all with the 56 mod, Shame. I wonder if you know of any mod that perhaps adds more generals to nations?
Oorestis 14 Jun, 2020 @ 10:36pm
yes you are right I was using the road to 56 mod, have you any version that is compatible? Everyone plays road to 56. When I tested your mod I tried the East Indies and they started with one unique field marshal and one general, maybe only in vanilla they have the marshal you said and the general I saw might be from the 56 mod because the mod does actually add some generals, not sure.. Either way, playing as the Dutch in general kinda sucks now cause I searched and searched and haven't found a single mod that adds Dutch generals. I was hoping yours would help.
Fart Shartley  [author] 14 Jun, 2020 @ 6:10am
@Oorestis Thanks for the report, I'll take a look and see if I can find any issues - sounds like a coding oversight on my part for that event, as it shouldn't fire for nations that do not have unique generals. I believe that Dutch East Indies only have 1 unique general "Hein ter Poorten", who is a field marshal.

Were you using this with any other mods that add generals or change the historical scenario (eg kaiserreich, Fuhrereich ect.)? This version of the mod will only work properly with the vanilla starting scenario. For a more versatile one, use the generalised version here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1530292604
Kaiserreich has its own version here:

Oorestis 14 Jun, 2020 @ 3:02am
Nice mod, however I think it is broken. I was playing as Netherlands and annexed Dutch east Indies, and got an event for integrating the generals. I picked first choice and all it did was give me a minus 5 to army organisation for an entire year but I never got any generals. Nor at the time when I clicked the button, nor when the penalty ended. Also At the start of the game a grayed out decision to get Flemish generals once Belgium no longer exists was available.I invaded them and I took the decision. When it ended. it worked with one of their naval leaders, however All I got was one Flemish bugged general without any portrait. It was just grey.
Fart Shartley  [author] 23 May, 2020 @ 5:57am
@justtxyank The game doesn't track integrated forces or (as far as I know) puppet divisions like it does for Government in Exile units, so there are no bonuses like that

@ Jakerussel1276™ Apologies for a late reply, Steam for some reason stopped notifying me of comments here. If you're still wondering, Austria-Hungary makes use of Hungarian generals, and is a cosmetic tag, rather than a country tag, so you should be able to integrate them just as if they were ordinary Hungary
justtxyank 21 May, 2020 @ 5:44pm
Will integrated generals get a bonus for commanding their own troops?
Jakerussel1276 15 Apr, 2020 @ 11:27am
Does this work for Austria-Hungary(Integrate War Economies as Germany)
Fart Shartley  [author] 21 Mar, 2020 @ 5:06am
I made a small error in my interface coding meaning the game couldn't find Ataturk's portrait correctly. Should be fixed now
claude291966 21 Mar, 2020 @ 4:31am
Hi, if you don't mind me bother you again, I find that "Mustafa Kemal Atatürk", the leader of Turkey didn't has any portrait when I integrated him from puppet Turkey. Is that my problem?
Fart Shartley  [author] 20 Mar, 2020 @ 9:47am
Glad your enjoying playing with it. I've just published the update to fix the czechoslovak trait and give Hein der Poorten the trait he deserves.
claude291966 20 Mar, 2020 @ 9:16am
But this is still a really helpful mod for sure. Thanks for your mod.

You are on point Claude! he must have been added in MTG and snuck under the radar
claude291966 20 Mar, 2020 @ 9:09am
Also, I think their is a Dutch East Indies' Field Marshal named "hein ter poorten" has a unique portrait
Fart Shartley  [author] 20 Mar, 2020 @ 9:07am
Just took a look at the files. Apparently I forgot to disable the czechoslovak unique trait for new hires. pushing a update now to fix that. Thanks for the report!
Fart Shartley  [author] 20 Mar, 2020 @ 9:05am
hm. that shouldn't be happening. I'll have a look into it. The trait shouldn't affect gameplay in any way though, so feel free to continue your game
claude291966 20 Mar, 2020 @ 8:57am
By the way, I got a spy with "Czechoslovakia unique" trait. Is that normal?
claude291966 20 Mar, 2020 @ 8:37am
I see, I thought that is a unique portrait
Fart Shartley  [author] 20 Mar, 2020 @ 5:55am
For some reason, Lin Biao is the only communist china general that PDX did not give a unique portrait - his portrait is actually generic warlord portrait #1, So he hasn't been given the trait. There are several other generals who have a similar "half-unique" state, such as several of the French Generals (Billote, Freydenberg, Olry, Besson)
claude291966 20 Mar, 2020 @ 2:37am
communist china general "Lin Biao" doesn't have a "unique" trait yet

Thanks a lot!!!:steamhappy:

I've just pushed an update for Husky today. Let me know if you run into any issues.

For whatever reason, it usually takes a while for the updates I post to synchronise with the launcher and the Paradox servers - so it might not work immediatly. This usually seems to resolve itself in a day or two, but I'll keep my eye on it and make sure that it goes through.
Ulf 15 Mar, 2020 @ 4:29pm
is there going to be an update to this mod?
马达·特蒙 12 Mar, 2020 @ 7:09pm
HI, may i ask why this mod does not work on my game? no matter version 1.8.1 or 1.8.2
Kelowna 2 Jan, 2020 @ 11:40am
Could you make a version that makes it so you get the commanders if you annex the country instead of them having to be a puppet?
Fart Shartley  [author] 19 Jul, 2019 @ 5:13am
No worries, I'm glad you're enjoying my mod. You actually inspired me to have another go at making it so that one can acquire generals via autonomy integration - Which, I'm happy to say will be a new feature in the next update.
SpartanWrex 19 Jul, 2019 @ 5:06am
I have used the decision however i found the problem was mods conflicting and so i have the mod working. Sorry for your time. PS its a great mod that should be in base game!
Fart Shartley  [author] 18 Jul, 2019 @ 2:08pm
Hi RougeStormTroop, to confirm, did you integrate them through the autonomy system, or did you use the "integrate military command" decision? Currently annexing a nation through integration does not give you their commanders, and you have to do it via decision when they are an integrated puppet. I had originally intended for it to work through the autonomy system more directly, but found that difficult to assemble properly. I've grown more familiar with coding since then though, so I may give it another look

TL;DR : you have to use the decision to integrate commanders, rather than directly integrating nations via autonomy
SpartanWrex 18 Jul, 2019 @ 11:51am
Hi i tried this mod as the UK and when i intergrate commonwealth nations they kept their commanders and i didnt get them?
Fart Shartley  [author] 8 Jul, 2019 @ 12:09pm
Just uploaded a small patch that should fix the issue. I had left a small oversight in the personality traits file that permitted new leaders to receive "unique" traits.
Fart Shartley  [author] 8 Jul, 2019 @ 11:54am
Thanks for the second report hyperman! I had not considered that possibility before - very thorough testing! I think I already may have thought of a solution to that problem, and I'll try testing it myself tonight.
