I'll look into the BlockVariants thing when I get around to it. Soon™
11:22:49.6113 [DEBUG] Keen: Created definition for: Armored Ion Thruster T3
Getting these errors for pretty much every thruster from this mod, looks like Keen are being dicks again
If they make the new designs accessible by for everyone, I'll look into it.
Perhaps proper cost and TWR scaling could be achieved somehow, but that would totally be outside the scope of this mod.
Sorry ;)
For small grid large atmospheric thrusters specifically; the higher tier thrusters are better for saving space, but overall the vanilla thrusters are a lot more efficient at what they do. You're better off using multiple vanilla thrusters to achieve the same lift than you are using high tier ones if space is not a concern. This is because their thrust to weight ratio is much better, so they will use less power to achieve the same thrust, and therefore use less power overall. I'm not sure this makes much sense, especially considering small thrusters don't seem to have this issue.
So my guess would be "it's fine".
You can at least try running both - if you notice anything weird, just change the mod order (put this one above/below the other one) and use whichever behaviour you like (if it changes at all).
So if the thrusters work in one orientation, but not another, it's just one of the many long known and long ignored features™ Keen "implemented" in their game, nothing I can do about that, sorry ;)
Also funny steam just now showed me the notification of "1 new comment"... dafuq?
Cheers and thanks for maintaining such an amazing mod. It does wonders for all of my weird, totally unbalanced designes.
You can see thrust output and power consumption in the Terminal after selecting the thruster.
I don't think I implemented progression (yet), but that's mainly due to me being lazy and the progression system in the game being annoying (to me personally), but I might aswell look into it.
@RobRendell
Thanks for the heads up, will investigate and fix
Thanks for your work!
Unfortunately I cannot - the way I streamlined the internal block naming will make the thrusters from the original mod just vanish if you remove that one, regardless of using this.
If you're playing a local singleplayer game (or are admin on a server) you can however enable space master/creative tools and just spawn in the new blocks to replace the ones lost due to removal of the original mod.
You have to ask nukeguard who made the original models and if one of them can help you.
Link to the original modpack is in the description above :)
Hydrogen Thrust fuel consumption works as intended. The T4's consume half as much H2 per kN thrust provided, but since they scale their output to x4 (small grid) and x16 (large grid), they still burn through stored Hydrogen quicker (x2 for small, x8 for large grid) than vanilla thrusters.
Keep in mind atmospheric ones do not work on the moon (except the one around the alien planet as that one actually has atmpshpere).
Hydrogen efficiency gets better in higher Tiers. Tier4 is twice as efficient has Vanilla.
Keep in mind the Thrust Output is scaled way higher, so higher Tier H2 Thrusters will still eat through stored Hydrogen quicker than Vanilla ones.
It's x2, x4, x8, x16 for large grid and (each tier multiplied by 2)
x1.41, x2, x2.83, x4 for small grid (each tier multiplied by sqrt(2) )
as stated in the description.
Sadly the game itself doesn't show the exact Force output but instead rounds the displayed value so that it "looks good" in the GUI.
You can see this for yourself by dragging the "Thrust Override" slider around in the Terminal.
Also sorry for deleting your comment, it was an accidental double click on my part :(
That's nothing I can influence in any way since this modpack is literally just a few models (coutesy of Nukeguard & co) and a bunch of xml to define component cost, energy drain and thrust output.
Do you have any rotors or pistons on the grid that could inflict any force upon it to make it move? Or connected/landinggeared to it?
Btw, thanks for making this improvement. It's fast become my preferred thruster mod. Keep up the good work!
So technically it should not have been working with this mod in the first place.
Of course I'm making some assumptions here, so please tell me if I'm wrong.
