Not from what I can see, SU maps generally don't make good TE conversions. I wanted a good map that let Hueys fly around and land, making it TE just restricts that completely.

If I am not mistaken tunnels spotted by loach can be seen only by cobra pilot not infantry. But you might need to check that.

When it comes to balance, the most talked about aspect I've read is that gunships are taking out tunnels at a fast rate, that is their role, but because of the map size which is larger than the other helicopter maps, it's too punishing for the North team. What if I keep the Loach so tunnels can still be spotted, but remove the Cobra so the South team have to work their way towards those locations on foot or by Huey?

Lots of historical events took place in the Cua Viet, but I won't be listing them all here. The map is based around 1969 when the ARVN 1st Division took responsibility for this area.

You should mention that in 1973 in this battle, the PAVN and NLF has already taken the area and the ARVN had to retake from the beach. Also, the forces to retake the coast were the unique Marine Division of ARVN. Just some historical facts.

This map is gorgeous. Love the pink sky humid sunset and pale beach. Also the cathedral and mountain in the distance is pretty sweet.

Please don't nerf the combat helis. Just add more portable hmg's, problem solved. If North don't use them that's their problem!

It's a shame this map isn't included more often to vary the same old over played map selections!!!

I agree with deleting of loach, but adding another huey its little bit worster than it or like dat, coz its mobile spawn with fast speed and also on a big map like that give southern faction big advantage, coz even on An Lao or especially Song Be RPGs cant eliminate em from ambushes or something. Here even harder, coz map bigger - more LZs for south, more distance to run for north. Best will be classic sheme: 1 loach, 1 cobra, 2 hueys. :steamhappy:

They don't really behave correctly for a proper game, it's not a map issue everything is in place to support them but they act really stupid

I honestly didn't expect the Loach to have much of an impact, but it seems players are making very effective hunter teams. I'm going remove a Loach and give an addition Huey, so there's still one Loach and one Cobra as you get on the other heli maps. I'll have an update out tomorrow.

This is by far one the most gorgeous maps I have seen in this game custom or vanilla. That being said there are some significant balance issues. As of now I would test to see how the south would fair with out any loaches as I feel the distances that the North have to cover is very large and their tunnels constantly being destroyed makes it incredebly difficult. Overall all though well done. I didn't think it was possible making rice patties look exceptionally well done.

You could also reduce the NLF capacity for AA cover (Like only having their home base have HMGs, to prevent heli spawn rushes). That way the Hueys would still have a decent chance to make drops, but wouldn't be the determining factor for the entire map (as they should be).

Huh, well, I'll definitely think about it, the Loach has always been pretty average and helicopters get taken down really easily so I don't get why they could dominate that much, but more hueys sounds fun and something I'll consider.

I have some feedback that might be helpful for balancing the map, since balance is the only issue with the map after the fallback spawn fix! (Seriously this map is almost flawless! Everything, from the visuals to the OBJ spawns are perfect!)

As it stands, two Loaches and a Cobra are game-breaking, especially with skilled pilots. With two loaches and minimal spots to hide tunnels, it's impossible for the the NLF to extend beyond their home base. I honestly think that combat pilots ruin the balance, and the map would be better with 3 Hueys, or two Hueys and a Loach. As it currently stands, the Southern airpower is too much.

Like the map but currently with 2 loaches and a Cobra, makes it impossible for the North to win at all. Recommend either taking out 1 Loach or Both and leave the Cobra. Or replace the Cobra with a Bushrange. Or take out the attack helo for campaign sake? Either way love the idea of the map just feel that the Attack helos causes a heavy problem with balance.

I think it's something weird with my game. For whatever reason sometimes various or all commander options will be disabled. Various maps. This was the first time I was missing all 3 options. But yeah the next time I played it someone else was commander and they had no issues.

Apparently there's a bug where the back up spawns do not activate when your home base is captured, meaning you have no spawn options available at all. I can't replicate it myself it all works fine my end, so I'd be interested to know if anyone encounters it and what the conditions in the map were at the time.

Ye, i think its will be best factions, coz both have weapons for long ranges: USMC: M40 for sniper and M14 for scout, VC: Mosin sniper and DP-28 mg.

- Fixed not being able to climb ladder
- Enabled do not switch sides in campaign, not sure if this works for SU but in campaign there is an issue with teams being switched.
