Hey Thundercraft! I mean, mod still works but, can you update it for 1.2?
kzs583 11 May, 2020 @ 6:07am
Thanks Bro!!

Thundercraft, I just have to say this: Thank you for being such a good author and, well, being :o)
Your explanations are detailed and sophisticated and show that you care.

BTW: I would appreciate any feedback about the hairstyles. Let me know how you feel about them, such as whether I should have removed more of them or if there are 1 or more hairstyles I should have left in. However, I do ask that you give me a reason or brief explanation of why I should.

Note: While I don't think it needs to be said, I won't remove all of them. There already exists a different mod for that.

I've finally updated to 1.1. Whew! :lunar2020sweatrat: This was more difficult than I had anticipated.

This does have support for RimWorld 1.0. However, I learned that it will only work if you have the latest (2551) revision of 1.0, which was only released a few days ago. Steam users will be fine. But if you get a red error, check the "Important Note on Compatibility with RimWorld 1.0" section above. You may want or need to use this, instead: Less Default Hair [Legacy version for 0.9 and 1.0]

BTW: RimWorld 1.0 users might appreciate how I added 14 hairstyles from RimWorld 1.1. See the description.

thanks @Thundercraft!

I m wondering now if this mod will still work in 1.1? or if not do you plan to update it?
Thundercraft  [author] 10 Feb, 2020 @ 5:03pm
@AriFerrari
It's always good practice to keep a backup of a good save if you plan to change your mods in any way.

That said, I can't imagine that this simple mod would negatively impact an existing save. All it does is use safe Xpath patches to change the <hairTags> of most vanilla hair. And most of these are changed from some combination of Urban, Rural, Punk and Tribal categories to a non-existent "IgnoreMe" category. This has the game ignore the hair as a choice since this fake category does not apply to any pawns.

Do note: If you apply it to an existing save, this mod will not remove or replace their hair if they already had ugly hair that this mod forbids.

Just to be safe: I just loaded a save after adding Less Default Hair, despite not originally having this mod. The error log did not show any errors. And my colonists still have their hair.

i hope i didnt miss it somewhere in the description, but is this safe to add to an existing save?

I just pushed a very minor update to correct a yellow error. This should have no impact on games, either way. It just removes a harmless error. Specifically, I changed <targetVersion> to <supportedVersions>:
<targetVersion> in mod About.xml is deprecated! Use <supportedVersions> tag instead. (example: <supportedVersions><li>1.0</li></supportedVersions>)

@Natalo77
Aside from certain race mods, I'm not aware of any. But, please, do let me know if you find a problem.
Natalo77 1 Feb, 2019 @ 1:15pm
Any hard incompatabilites?
Thundercraft  [author] 31 Dec, 2018 @ 12:17am
@BoxingBud What do you mean by "non-human" pawns? Are you using a race mod to convert colonists to some other race, like Drow, Gnoll or Androids? If so, then I suppose it's possible for there to be a mod conflict. I've never tried it with a race mod before.

All this mod is designed to affect is the hair of human colonists. And all it consists of is a slightly modified vanilla file that defines hair types for colonists. I just tested it out myself with a few mods, but even with over a dozen colonists and over a dozen raiders, I don't see anyone without a head.

Thank you, Thundercraft :o)

Oh, i forgot, another great hairmod is the colleciotn by.. uhm... DZW - hairstyles merged.
Basically one only this that one, 9 hairmods in one, including all those mentioned above.

Thanks for this - it was much needed.
And another vote for "hardcore" version.
Yrol Akiyama 5 Nov, 2018 @ 3:41pm
Thundercraft, thanks :o)
How do i get rid of ALL vanilla hairstyles?
Even and especially when i use Prepare Carefully?

Or.. maybe you could add an option for that
or release a "hardcore"-Version of This Mod if it turns out to be not possible
to do as mere moduser?
