This mod is no longer updated, but for those interested, Scorpion has given me permission to use it as a base for "Retaliation X:" Keeping Retaliation alive and fresh for the neXt generation! Why don't you check it out? Link

also.. there is this bug where if you get killed in SP-IA with respawn turned on while in a relay bunker sattalite view. you are stuck forever in said bunker view, even if you destruct the relay bunker, then your respawned character just sits behind the mcv spinning in place.. also tried killing that character to see if that would help.. nothing.. so that also pretty much completely ruins this game for me with this mod.. sorry, again best of luck, just please.. do a version of the mod without that generated bull**** voice or make an option to disable those callouts please (and no i will not turn off the voices overall as that for me ruins the feel and spirit of the game. makes it feel.. lifeless..)

ok fair enough just focus on getting a couple gun turrets up as quick as possible in the first 5 minutes and you're good against the maulers........ however... about the same amount of time after, they send at least 3 of those super insane long range fekking flying mortar turrets (my nemesis) that are so powerful that they can eliminate anything within a few shots that happen in a matter of seconds.... so don't group up all of your power plants... done with this mod for now :q the hard difficulty even on easy and the generated voice is peeving me off too much.. last message from me for a long while bye. (unless i reply to anything ofc)

also... i just had the same... issue... that warnoise had... not even 10 minutes in (1 isdf vs 1 ai-scion) they attacked with at the very least 4 maulers all of which b-lined straight for my recycler and the 3'rd or 4'th of which that got to the recycler destroyed it....... on easy difficulty with small enemy forces (i know it only affects starting forces) settings......... rather annoying.. :,q please fix if this is an issue/bug and if it is not then please alter at the very least for the easy setting... i'd consider that hard difficulty for myself..

for me the voice thing and this mauler issue are by far the biggest issues i have with this mod seeing as i only have one other.. annyoance but it would be stupid to call it an issue.. everything else is very good as i could tell.. in my less than 10 minute experience.. :q but they are 2 huge huge issues for me at least. hope you can maybe fix or sort it in the future. good luck again peace!

any chance of a version of this mod without the auto generated illuminati conspiracy theory voice?? even if it is just blank and unfitting stock with some things i really don't care as it quite litterally ruins the mood for me big time, really don't think i will ever play this mod again after i finish looking at it for the first time purely because of those voices... was smiling at everything i was looking at and hearing.. right up untill that first clip of the generated voice kicked in.. :( huge downer for me. anyways long story short, please do a version without that stupid voice. like and love everything else about it so far especially the IA maps with ai patrol's and special emplacements. best of luck ahead!!

With this mod ON it is simply impossible to beat Fanning Flames. Not ony the enemy rushes you with like 6 Maulers by the time you barely build 1 guntower, just after the mauler attack i got swarmed by some high tier units that decimated everything in a couple of seconds...

A great method for getting Rocket Towers up quickly is something called scrap boosting, you simply upgrade your base pool, build a unit on red scrap, let the scrap bar go up for a bit preferably on red scrap rather than yellow, and yellow scrap rather than green, then cancel that unit, and repeat. Once the scrap gets higher you should build more costly units like a Tank so you can still let the scrap bar go up on red, rather than yellow, as you always want to be getting income on the fastest scrap segment (red) while you are waiting for the unit to build until you can cancel it a second or two before it's ready.

Rocket Towers are once again the answer. If you simply can't pass it even on Easy, then your only option is to use bzfree (if you don't know what this is I will PM you how to enable it) to get that defense up and then turn it off once you can hold off the swarm to be fair. You don't wanna be building hordes of assault units with unlimited resources, there's no challenge in that. Just make sure to have sufficient defense to stop your base from getting overrun, and disable it. Although it would be best if you could do it without bzfree, as that would improve your skill the most, but everyone learns at their own pace and you can always try again later.

i managed to get by but now im on the aan mission and by the time i get 1 tower up 15 scouts and 15 morter bikes show up with the morter bikes firing some scatter missile barrage which kills my whole base in 15 seconds

It is in the game, but only at the very last Scion Mission. There it acts as Braddock's Defender with extremely powerful weapons that use stolen planetary energy from the Alchemator.

You must leave the Scion Recycler alone until it deploys or else you will alert the nearby Mauler production facility that will unleash hell upon you. Your superior officers do not yet know of this, which is why they tell you to engage.

Either get as much defense as quickly as you possibly can, destroy the Recycler and immediately complete the rest of the mission with the transmitter and collapse the cave before your base gets overrun, or let enemy build a base in the south, and beat them that way. That way you will also have a lot more defense built to hold off the Mauler swarm, but they will eventually prevail so you need to head to the cave and speed past them in a fast unit (like a Scout or Mortar Bike) and trigger the collapsing cave to stop the Maulers.

yeah i found that turning the difficulty down to easy made it doable but I noticed that as you approach, the AI hasn't even started attacking the Red squadron yet and it's only once you get within weapons range that they start firing. In the time it takes to kill one and then move to the other, the second Sentry has dispatched all of the Red craft. It seems that the jump in difficulty between easy and medium almost calls for another difficulty level in between for those of us that are neither vet nor beginner.. maybe the answer is to play more and become a vet...

What difficulty are you playing on? If you set it too high the Sentries will kill Red Squad too quickly. Unless you are a vet player that can hover those 2 Sentries down in time to save Red 1, I strongly recommend you set the difficulty to Easy. I thought I already made it clear in the description, but I will try again. If you are not a vet player, you should play at Easy. If you are intermediate, you should play on Medium or Easy.

Red Squad clearly state that they are being attacked, so you don't have any time to waste. You need to rush to their rescue.

Has anyone else noticed that the mission script is broken on the first campaign mission?

As soon as you assist Red Squadron on Pluto on the first mission, the mission fails and you are directed to an insubordination message...

Put the Difficulty setting to Easy, and make as many Rocket Towers as you can as fast as you can. The other thing should only happen with the Stock AIP (Which I have not changed for Retaliation, but will on popular demand) the others will have them get the requirements first before building that. Also you can have as many Pool Towers as you want, it isn't restricted in any way.

There are lots of ways of dealing with the towers. You can use Shield Generators to protect yourself from enemy Artillery and all projectile weapons, you can take out their powers/lungs (you can use Force in this situation), use weapons that outrange them (Slug Walkers, Sonic Lancers, ISDF assault cannons, Artillery), distract them somehow and move in a demolition unit, etc.

The reason things seem more buffed is to add to the faster pace of the mod, ships are faster, weapons are stronger, scrap income is faster, healing is faster, and things take less time to build. Less waiting around and more action.

People say this mod doesn't carry the "spirit of BZ:II" and will leave the game after awhile. Not sure what it really means. Just seems like people aren't 100% on this mod. It's definately missing something.

One thing I don't like are the OP weapons for the units and my own units bad at firing while attacking. Had to break a enemy base by mortaring it with arty turrets. Not really fun when it's all about zerg creeping into CPU's base.

The campaign has been tweaked to be hard for vets. Like I said in the description if you are new or intermediate you will want to set the difficulty setting to easy. A lot of those early rush missions all you need to do is get a few Rocket Towers/Spires up fast.

What is fun about having a deathsquad come in at the 5 minute mark into a campaign mission? Even attempting to mass mortar bikes to pray the aoe is enough to drop the massive amount of enemy units isn't enough. Difficulty is at medium. If the enemies were coming in waves that would be fine, but this 40 unit rush is too much.

Love the mod! The weapons are neat, plus I really like the graphical and sound changes. I also like the changes to the gun towers as well. Eager to see more content added. So far only done IA, only bug I encountered was early on I got my comm bunker bombed with me in it. It was destroyed but somehow I lived on still logged in and couldn't log out. Guess I was the "chosen one" that time around.

its a nice work, i respect you. im a fanatic of bz . but , its needing to have a big army of heavy assault unity for attckenemy base , I think , the trucks repair are not speedy and they dont obey my orders. gun tower are too much powerred. but its a ggod mod , different and funny when trying.
