The mod is currently outdated, so it's not your hardware or bugs, it simply hasn't been updated. I've had a hard time with full time studies, some work, cooking and exercising regularly, other chores, and having a full social life. There simply wasn't any time left over to update this and my other mods, though I maintain this one will be my first priority if I get the time (maybe, hopefully, some time this Summer).
So my recommendation is to find other mods, games and/or hobbies for the time being, and just check in occasionally here. Also I believe you can turn on notifications for the comment field and/or my activity to simplify checking for updates.
Had enough old BA?
@bibi2far
I wouldn't mind doing that, but someone would probably have to help me, as my French isn't that good. C'est comme ça
@SX @Fanatic @Boris¿
Yeah, it's not updated. I originally planned a moderate or big update to this over a year ago, but real life, other mods/hobby projects and a lack of motivation stifled that. Sorry for the wait. In any case, I'm back now and the new plans are one update to make it playable again (with all the railroad, character and building/map adaptations that may come with this.) Then after that maybe a small update with some of the light flavor decisions/events I had planned for Romania.
The bigger plans with helping others integrate this directly into TGW and the most ambitious economy-diplomacy-warfare combination decision/event plans yet (for Bulgaria) will have to wait until some time later.
But yes, work on making this playable again has officially restarted
Eventually. I'll scale down the ambitions for the time being and make a smaller update so you guys don't have to wait half a year. Will probably do a small NE update before starting on this one however, as this one is the most tedious mod to update by far with frequent changes by both Paradox and TGW. The redeeming thing is I've been trying to cut and simplify over time at least.
Hey, thanks for informing me about TGW's update. As for updating this mod, yes, eventually I will move on to update this mod and NE, though for now I've put all my time and effort to spare in NaW and R56. I'm nearing a place where they're in a good place for now though, so maybe in a few weeks my other HoI IV mods will start to receive some love in my spare time as well. So I guess thanks for staying patient, and enjoy HoI IV and TGW by themselves for now
Hey, thanks a lot guys
Still, I was wondering, are you guys going to integrate it all, e.g. events, focuses, ideas, decisions, map/state changes, etc.? I might as well let you know I've done minor changes outside of the Balkans too then, e.g. the Russian Civil War, Italo-Ottoman war, French and British ideas, AI strategies, some added cities and renamed states/places elsewhere, so while it's definitely 90%+ Balkan, it has a bit of stuff for non-Balkans as well. I can probably help you over on GitHub if you need it for tying it all together, just let me know.
Most likely with time TGW AND TGW submond will merge inserting all the content of both mods in a single
Obviously you will be added on the credits of the mod
Yeah, there currently isn't. I've been thinking about it before, but it's hard to figure out what the outcome would look like in such a situation. Broadly speaking the options would be either a compromise where the Ottomans still have to give land, but a lot less due to their success (as they were in a bad spot at the time), a scripted peace with no territorial changes, or light gains for the Ottomans. TGW is quite railroaded, so it would be bad for the follow up gameplay if we go crazy.
Another thing to do(?): Hitting Balkan League members' stability and/or war support if they lose, and maybe adding stability, WS and/or a temporary buff to the Ottomans if they win.
No guarantee on when/if it happens, it's a hard one to figure out the optimal solution for, and I'm working on some other ideas I've had, that range from fixes/improvements to quite ambitious new features. In short: Your suggestion was good, it's just hard to figure out the exact nuance on how best to do it.
Ah, I see. I don't know much Russian myself, but if anyone wants to help I'm sure I could include it in a future patch.
@mustafaharman131
Well, it took a while, but here it is at last.
The new BA update 1.3.2 "Expeditionary Forces" is live, and compatible with the newest HoI IV and TGW versions. In addition to being updated to the newest versions, the localisation has been streamlined into fewer files for easier future maintenance (could be done as TGW also improved their file handling, allowing me to follow, so I appreciate it), a few buffs to the Serbian idea Military-Technical Works as well as the British ideas Empire Expeditionary Force and Recruitment Drive, and finally some slight improvements to text/localisation seen in the mod's gameplay. Enjoy everyone
I do edits/additions to some Balkan focus trees, but I do not create them from scratch, as that would be a lot of wasted effort if/when TGW itself does it. I've stated this before, but of course it's disappointing for those who want more. If it's any consolidation I at least add events/decisions and other small stuff to the main Balkan countries.
@СтAss
I'm afraid I do not know what a Russifier is. Could you elaborate?
@100 Bullets
Thanks a lot. I've been busy with studies, work, investing, R56 modding and more recently Warband modding, but eventually I'll try and get this updated. Hopefully the date is drawing nearer.
@ecnahc
Yes, the TGW Megasubmod team has done loads of work on their ambitious project, and it has BA integrated. Please give it a try and maybe some constructive feedback, especially those waiting for the next BA update. I highly approve of their work
Thanks. While I appreciate the support and am generally happy with what I've made, there are still some bugs occasionally, like last time when the Russian civil war events were broken either by me or by the TGW creator, which I in that case didn't catch. Thankfully Canadian Lemur helped me find the issues, and in the new update this should be at least partially fixed. More will be coming if my current changes didn't quite do the job.

Well, yeah, national focuses are usually the thing people most often notice, and a good one adds a lot to the experience. As for Greece in BA there's one unique idea and one semi-unique idea shared with the Ottomans, some temporary ideas shared between Balkan countries, the map changes, the updated state names, the economic development of Greece events, the much more accurate populations for states, the airplane purchasing decisions with events, airplane aces with events, the more challenging realistic Balkan Wars, etc.
I did previously do added division names for land units, but TGW started doing it so that work was kinda "wasted". I'm a bit afraid of work being wasted on a Greek focus tree if TGW adds it too, and the generic tree is quite good, so I think I'd rather prioritize more events and decisions if doing more specifics for Greece in the future. Unfortunately if you want a Greek focus tree in the near future TGW or other mods will be better bets for you than BA.
Okay, thanks, I'll look into it to see if there are any issues.
Not really within the scope of the mod, but I've been known to make exceptions before (e.g. German state name updates, Russian/Mongolian event chains to some extent, the UK and France). Maybe if the China mechanics don't get better in TGW itself in the near future. On the other hand, the Qing falling is historical, so they're best buffed to rarely fail in an optional side mod for those who want such a thing.
@eliot023
This is within the scope of the mod, and small ideas and decisions affecting them are already in. If I can think of something interesting to do with them before and/or during the 1st BW, then maybe more will come.
Thanks a lot. I did check the Russian event files before I updated, but I'll make sure to look into the relevant files, do some edits if needed and test the functionality for the next small update. Did you use any gameplay altering mods in addition to this one and TGW, by the way?
@Oodler1
Yeah, if you have the time and will to do modding yourself just look through what others have done and try some small edits and changes until you understand what you're doing. It's what I did anyways :P The Ottomans and Afghanistan are both somewhat underrated I feel, and there's interesting stuff to add to both. In any case, whatever you do first I'm sure it'll be good.
Go for it, I can't see why it wouldn't be. Just make sure to name the relevant mods as dependencies in your .mod-files (e.g. descriptor.mod and "yourmodname".mod). Also it could be kind of annoying to update with having to look through HoI IV base game files, the TGW files and/or BA files after individual updates if talking about this submod, so I would strongly recommend keeping whatever you're doing light and limited to few or relatively few files. Just out of curiosity, what do you intend to do with your potential sub-submod?
Thanks. I've left Northern Macedonia shaped like that to enable the historical division of Macedonia after the agreement between Bulgaria and Serbia at the time, and to a lesser extent to represent the diplomacy between Bulgaria, the Entente and Serbia when the Entente were discussing what lands they were willing to give Bulgaria to join their side. Modern North Macedonian borders are not heavily considered for now. Though there could be an argument for separating Northwestern Macedonia from Kosovo, it serves little gameplay purpose for the time being, and will unfortunately not be highly considered. The same goes for the division between Central Macedonia, South Macedonia and Epirus. Currently it can represent the likely territorial divisions between Bulgaria and Greece, where Southern Macedonia (current state) and Epirus still with Greece, and Central Macedonia with Bulgaria currently represents roughly the absolute maximum semi-likely territorial gains for Bulgaria.
But if you fix the Macedonian states it will not be bad
- part of southern Macedonia is in the same state as Epirus,
and the other which is western Macedonia is in Kosovo territory
- if it is something being done, fashion will be 11/10. Now it is 10/10
(It wold also not be bad to add more Bulgarian city names of some states that Bulgaria can take)
Example Contantca in nothern Dobrudja can be renamed Kiustendzha if Bulgaria takes this territory - and Constantinople to Tsarigrad. If u need ideas, I can help
Good to hear, have fun :)
For those that want the portraits back, I fixed those issues among other in the small update 1.3.0a for BA just now, but a restart after getting it will be necessary for the Bulgarian portraits, the fix to the hidden setup event for historical city renaming and the Russian guarantee of Bulgaria, and maybe for some starting ideas at certain bookmarks too. Other stuff should show up even in an ongoing game, but I would still recommend a restart after ensuring you have the update for added flavor if playing in Europe.
