Re: Gallo-Roman Culture:

This was exactly what I have found in my research and exactly what I intended. In terms of this mod, French IS Gallo-Roman. I was essentially too lazy to create a new Gallo-Roman culture and recycled the already existing French culture, because the shoe fits like none other.

Thanks for the compliment, I am very honored.

And a very interesting little history lesson. And good ideas.

I built this mod quite a while ago and have since forgotten many details, historical details, how this mod works, and how the game CK2 works. As far as I remember, this particular mod was somewhat complicated and required thorough understanding how the CK2 cultures work. It would require quite some time investment to get to a point where I can expand the mod, and more time on top of that to implement it.

I make no claims to the code though, anyone who is interested can take this mod and change and expand it.

As for the Suebi, they can be reused for the culture of the Alemanni, the Bavarians and the Thuringians. These three Germanic kingdoms were West Germanic or Central Germanic as the game calls them, from the branch of the Herminones, their language and culture were related, they called themselves "Suebi" or "Suevians", hence the names of the " Duchy of Swabia" "Schwaben" and "Switzerland".
Of course, this in-game would result in the Suebi having German portraits and their culture becoming Germanic over time.

The Burgundians were, like the Visigoths, a Germanic minority that ruled over a Romanized Celtic majority, in this case, Gallo-Romans.

The Visigoths can be used as the culture of the rulers of the Duchy of Burgundy, since this duchy is directly heir to the kingdom of the Burgundians, who were East Germanic like the Goths, so their language and culture are closely related to each other.

As for the Suebi and Visigothic culture, they can be reused as follows:

As for the Catalan culture, it is closely related to the Occitan culture of southern France, however, it began to differentiate when Charlemagne established Frankish rulers in the area, changing the culture of the area.

Ideally, the Castilian and Portuguese cultures already exist on the peninsula. To say that, I base myself on the fact that the medieval Castilian culture is a direct continuation of the Cantabrian culture, that is, Celtiberian, from the area of Asturias, Castilla y León. As for the Portuguese culture, it is very closely related to the Galician culture. In fact, the name "Portugal" derives from the vulgar Latin "Portus Gael" which means "Gallic port", so the counties of Galicia and Portugal should be of Portuguese culture from the beginning of the game.

It seems to me very correct that the French as a Latin culture already exist, since at that time, in the region of France there was a Gallo-Roman culture very similar to the medieval French culture. These Gallo-Romans adopted some elements from the Franks, as well as their name "French". In the game, the existence of the French culture seems perfect to me, since it closely resembles the existence of the Gallo-Roman culture. In this way, it seems prudent to me to extend this concept to the Iberian peninsula. In this peninsula, there was a Romanized Celtiberian culture, which was the majority of the population. The Visigothic culture was not strong enough in the peninsula to make its people speak their language or practice their customs and the Visigothic rulers had already fallen into total disgrace by then, the same thing happens with the Suebi, they were a ruling minority that did not They left a very large mark on the region.

Hello! It is an excellent mod that you created, and as a historian I would like to help you with some scientific data.

Do you care to add EU4 conversions for the new cultures? They end up surviving till the end date occasionally, and don't convert correctly.

@Flint everyone last name is Smith in the new cultures...help?

good input, thank you.

i like the idea with the multiple names the most, i will change it to "Frisia" for frisian rulers, while frankish or german rulers will still call it Low Francia.

give me a couple days to implement and test. you can start using this mod already, that upcoming change should not break existing saves.

Historically, Frisians did have a Kingdom. So keeping the name Frisia (or calling it Friesland) would be appropriate, instead of Low Francia, as it has more historical precedence. Granted, the actual borders of this 'kingdom' and how centralized it was is debated, and it existed a bit before the earliest start state depicted. But I personally think it's better than 'Low Francia'. You could also have multiple names for it, depending on the rulers culture, or get rid of the kingdom entirely and give it to another kingdom (if you go with this option, merging it with Middle Francia/Austrasia would make sense since it has precedence).

This map is pretty nice. Could give you ideas.

Keep up the good work, though. Will definitely try this mod out.

I changed the description from "feedback welcome" to "constructive feedback welcome", from now on only _constructive_ feedback allowed here.

Unconstructive complaints will be mercilessly destroyed.
