Keep the title but if you want to sound fancy you should refer to this operation as a "laryngectomy" in the description. removing someone vocal cords alone will cause them to die by aspiration.

In the screenshot, the pawn with removed vocal cords also has no fertility. Is this from the vocal cord removal?

@bedrockthynightwing If you still care, there's now a negative mood effect for pawns without vocal cords.

Masochistic pawns will not receive any mood change.

I can't count how many times my prisoners have started a chain reaction of chaos in the colony due to paranoid rambling. Removing their vocal cords? What a genious mod. Just brilliant. One less hassle to worry about, as long as there are other recreational activities they can perform to satisfy their needs besides social interaction.

I suppose you could maybe make a surgery that requires an Item like components to set the hediff to another value? Like, Prosthetic Larynx/vocal cord surgery cost 1 component for 60% talking and a social debuff to their aquaintances for "robot voice" (or even just the good ol' annoying voice?) and then 2 adv components for the other surgery? maybe a social buff?

I don't know, man, but I'm sure you'll figure out the best course of action. I just find myself getting excited over peoples projects. :2018spacefox:

@Neshimi Currently the vocal cords are not a body part, but I can probably make them. For now it is a simple Hediff. The operation is currently non-reversible, this is because I found no cases of a successful repair of completely cut vocal cords.

The bionic parts are a good idea, I haven't considered them yet. I'll look into it.

This is a fantastic Idea! though I would also like to know about what Kirby asked. Do you get an organ item for the surgery, can the operation be reversed, and would you consider adding a Prosthetic/bionic for replacements? Especially if this part is capable of being injured in combat.

I imagine that the prostetic would be like the one in mad max or this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riHLUOXt1Aw

And bionic would be be like regular speech with some added versitility. Maybe a bonus to communicating with animals? Like they could make animal noises?

Just when you think Rimworld has reached it's low, now you aren't even going to allow prisoners to speak before harvesting their organs and turning their skin into hats.

Hell, I have a mod that turns pawns into living batteries. But taking away their ability to speak? That just feels wrong. My hat goes off to you, the rimworld gets darker with every mod.

Since you are able to remove the vocal cords from your Colonists or Prisoners in this mod...

Can you Sell their Vocal Cord to Traders for Silver or Give it to someone else if they somehow lost their Voice?
