ColdSpaCe7 It should not matter where its loaded relative to NSC, or any other mod since it doesn't overwrite any vanilla files. The only compatibility problem I know if is gigastructures but that's not a load order issue.

@Mr. Miyagi Sorry, I haven't figured out how to make the mod... work. As in, none of the files have any effect on the game whatsoever. Use the launcher to make your own mod, then place the files from this mod in it. It should be mostly compatible with the current version.

Hey its me again. Scaling is completely off and i still dont see the option to upgrade the sphere. Im playing with a shipset that changes the texture of it if that does anything.

Milton If you turn on scaling for dyson spheres, you won't be able to upgrade your dyson spheres into habitable ones.

Just tried this out. The option to make the sphere convertable into a habitat doesnt seem to show up. Seems interesting though

Thanks for responding, glad to hear it should still work. I was considering adding your mod to my collection as an early game alternative to the Penrose Ringworld and Birch World from Gigastructural Engineering. I will try it out and I'll be looking forward to when you do feel motivated to update this mod.

Milton I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but it shouldn't be game-breaking to use. Unfortunately I just let some work for this mod pile up so I haven't found the motivation to fully update it yet.

@Mr. Miyagi I use Gigastructures but not Scaling but I didn't test using Gigastructures, I tested using only this and a UI mod in a testing playtest I have for testing my own mod. It's hit and miss, and showing in the planets tab is always miss.

The picture is most certainly not the ecumenopolis, that has a blue sky backdrop to a City. This mod has a black backdrop to a city, no stars, no details, just plain black. It looks like the picture for the backdrop isn't loading in for some reason.

John McCreedy The tech roll works as far as I know. I'll see if it's having issues as of 3.3

The option to convert being absent means that you either lack the technology or some other mod is loaded preferentially that prevents it from upgrading. Are you using gigastructures with star scaling turned on?

It should show up in the planets tab. That's a weird one though, I have no idea what would cause it.

As for the planet picture, I just don't like any of the backgrounds, so I use the same setup as an ecumenopolis.

I like this mod and I hope you can get it working right but as it stands there are several substantial problems with it.

1. Even after finishing the Tech Tree the Techs for this never appear as an option.
2. Sometimes the option to convert never appears.
3. It doesn't appear as either a structure or planet in your Outliner.
4. The planet picture (when you click on the sphere) seems incomplete. It shows a city against a black back drop.

I'm giving you this information as a Bug report, I hope you can get it working to its full potential. It's always perplexed me that the ultimate Megastructure was omitted from the game.

fyi @Mr. Miyagi re: compatibility in description. multiple upgrades don't affect this mod. I could have a gateway upgrade from the dyson sphere 5 and it would just show two upgrade options instead of one

scott4dges Totally safe to add mid-game. Even if a dyson sphere is already constructed, you can still upgrade it with this mod.

Do you think it's safe to add this mod to an existing save game? Or does it require anything at game start? If the Dyson Sphere has already been built by your empire (mine isn't started yet) will the mod still allow the techs and other functionality?

frozenparagon Each of the four upgrade techs can only be researched with the relevant ascension perk. Gaia spheres can only be created with the world shaper AP, Arcology spheres the Arcology Project AP, Hive Spheres the Hive Worlds AP, and Machine Spheres the Machine worlds AP.

sadly, gaia sphere doesn't seem to ever turn up as researchable and the sphere provides no food options anymore :( I did figure out how add minerals and the strategic coordination center and science nexus stats easily to my own dyson files tho so that's cool. as simple as opening the dyson sphere file in your megastructures folder and copy pasting some stuff from other megas until desired results are achieved :D

ok. I've resubscribed your other habitable structures compat mod, but I started a new game so It'll be a bit until I can build the Dyson hab again. now it's been a while since I used your mod, but I recalled the districts providing everything an empire would need yes? or am I misremembering? when I built it last save I lacked the ability to build industrial districts or any agriculture, but that might have been due to lack of the compat mod.

frozenparagon I'm not very familiar with the baol relic but it sounds to me like the habitable structures trigger is being overwritten. This page links to my patch and it links to another that might be more up to date.

fair enough. there is a small glitch I've noticed. to my knowledge I'm not using any other relic mods or anything that adds content so it's a vanilla decision to life seed with boal that converts the habitat into a gaia world and causes the dyson sphere model to dissapear

assuming you're familar with Gulli's planet modifiers and how his precursor systems have that shipyard module buff that adds a bunch of shipyards and cititdel defense system mod. Would you be willing to add a starbase module that specifically adds a massive production/trade... effectively a buff worthy of the penultimate engineering that a dyson sphere represents? All I want Is to park at an isolated system with an insane habitation featuring ludicrous production and defense capabilities. Kinda like obiwan in a new hope, but he's roided out and has laser eyes... and teeth, and breath and also is just a living laser man

This is a real facepalm mod. It's filling a massive hole in stellaris that shouldn't be there in the firstplace. I'm of the opinion that starbases should upgrade into megastructures such as a ringworld and a ringworld ultimately should upgrade into a dyson sphere, but since we don't have that, we have this great mod. Mr. Miyagi I do hope you find your way back over here sometime and update it. I've yet to confirm if this mod still works since the 3.0 update. I'll post my findings when they come in for the rest of you.

It's just my opinion , could you make the arcology sphere can build distircts that produce consumer goods and alloys?
