Ah, thank you!

Will there be a 1.1 Update?
Krausladen 17 Dec, 2019 @ 1:54pm
Theoretically, the chemical composition of a star and a planets atmospheric capabilities to absorb and reflect light, will directly impact the appearance of plants colors.

Interestingly enough, if you look at some flower petals through the lens of infrared light, patterns will reveal themselves that are invisible to the naked eye, but insects and the like that see in infrared can see those patterns and are drawn to those flowers, so there is some variation based on factors other than light itself.

The colors you see are a reflection of what light is not absorbed by objects. Stars emit light on the full spectrum. If atmospheric conditions change enough where the spectrum of light reaching the surface oscillates throughout the day, week, month, or season, it is entirely plausible to believe that a planet could exhibit plants of all colors, just like Earths ocean, regardless of the star.
Krausladen 17 Dec, 2019 @ 1:54pm
Here's why plants on earth are green:

The sun emits mostly yellow, red, blue, violet, orange, light etc due to the chemical composition of the sun. It emits very low green light on the spectrum. Therefore, when you see green in plants, its because plants are absorbing all of the other colors of light on the spectrum via photosynthesis because the optimal color absorption/reflection ratio per darwins theory for earth states that plants will succeed most by focusing on absorbing other colors of light than green.

HOWEVER: We see in algae in the ocean that it scales to the depth of the algae. Red algae is best at absorbing blue light, thats why red algae is found at more depth in the ocean. Red plants thrive in environments with thick atmospheric conditions because blue light penetrates those atmospheres more easily. The ocean, is an atmosphere of liquid water.

Its also possible that, our science is not completely accurate, things are disapproved constantly. and since we have not been to many other worlds, our data is VERY limited.

For the majority of people on earth that believe in a higher power, the plants colors could have been determined by the creator.

I'm sure there are other reasons that I am not thinking of.. but I think in a sci-fy game, which is what I personally consider Rimworld, its completely reasonable to be creative and loose with the science behind concepts.
Cotton Joe  [author] 17 Dec, 2019 @ 9:46am
That may be true for the most part, but it is not exclusively the case. We have plants on earth with colors other than the ones named for our sun. It is also *possible* that the plants of other worlds could.. be made of different elements than the plants on earth. react differently to light due to evolution. be genetically altered by the the host species of the planet, or even seeded by a non host on a previously barren planet. Altered in some strange way by the constant toxic fallout and solar flares that plague many of the rimworlds.
ZombieKiller96 17 Dec, 2019 @ 6:51am
Plant color is determined by the wavelength at which the parent star (or stars) of their planet peaks. On Earth, plants tend to be green because Solar wavelengths peak in green. Earth plants absorb anything between yellow and infrared for use as photosynthesis and block the rest, anything from ultraviolet to green, by reflecting them.

Hence, on planet orbiting O-class stars, plants would appear to be white or light purple. planets orbiting B-class stars would have light purple plants, planets orbiting A-class stars would have purple plants, planets orbiting F-class stars would have purple, indigo, blue or cyan plants, planets orbiting G-class stars - like our Sun, would have cyan, green or chartreuse plants, planets orbiting K-class stars would have chartreuse, yellow, orange, red or maroon plants, planets orbiting M-class stars would have maroon, dark brown or black plants, and planets orbiting L or T brown dwarfs would have black plants.

Just throwing that out there.

This mod was added to a collection of mods that perform and work well alongside this one.
MachoNatchoMan 21 Aug, 2019 @ 4:04pm
did you ever make a version for b18? i'm going back to it for the full tiberium mod :3 :p
Cotton Joe  [author] 15 Aug, 2019 @ 5:27am
Go into the mod folder and find Plants_special. Then find the plant named Mila, and remove the lines <li Class="CompProperties_Glower">
<glowRadius>10</glowRadius>
<glowColor>(255,255,255,0)</glowColor>
</li>
That should stop the performance hit. I see no reason why keeping the plants with out the glow would hurt performance.

The recolors and especially the grass recolor is beautiful but unfortunatly after a couple days using it i've noticed hits in performance. is their a way for me to edit to remove the pink tree and the glowing plant? (unfortunate as the nights are really nice) it may help a bit. I'm truly in love with that grass recolor.

For now i just remove and re-add it so theise plants delete and i do this process when their is too much of them but a permanent solution would be nice if it is possible.

Again, great mod. i've been using it even with those hits performence.

Rimworld uses multiple models for many of the plants in the game. This mod replaces and adds new colored models for the game to choose from.
Krausladen 6 Jul, 2019 @ 10:39am
Is this mod using RNG to generate colored grass or what?
Cotton Joe  [author] 4 Jul, 2019 @ 6:52am
sorry about that, likely the plants that glow.
Bobisz 3 Jul, 2019 @ 10:23am
unfortunately this mod caused massive lag spikes for me, had to remove

Thanks amalka_palka. I don't really play rimworld anymore, after 1300 hours I cant stay interested. It is a fantastic game tho, and I'm glad you enjoy the mod.
amalka_palka 21 May, 2019 @ 8:17pm
I love this mod!
Cotton Joe  [author] 11 Apr, 2019 @ 10:00pm
@mlm.e90887 I am not aware of any known compatibility issues. If you find one, please let me know.
Disastrophi 10 Apr, 2019 @ 6:14pm
Would you consider listing mods you know it is not compatible with in the description?
MachoNatchoMan 9 Feb, 2019 @ 1:38am
YYYAY! thank you Joseph!! :) been waiting for this to get updated forever
Vakaria 4 Feb, 2019 @ 1:46pm
@Joseph: How awesome! Thank you!
TheQuadHeadmen 4 Feb, 2019 @ 10:17am
Awesome dude! Really happy to see this mod get updated
Cotton Joe  [author] 3 Feb, 2019 @ 6:21pm
Update: No longer incompatible with Realistic Planets. That mod did something with grass, so I just changed the tags for grass in this mod. I would like to note tho, that this mod will not add NEW plants to biomes added by other mods. Not at this point anyway. It will still recolor the vanilla plants in added biomes tho.
Vakaria 3 Feb, 2019 @ 10:35am
Update: Doesn't seem like this is compatible with the Realistic Planets mod by Rainbeau Flambe. Lots of missing tiles errors. Too bad, but I'll keep an eye on this for future compatibility.
Vakaria 3 Feb, 2019 @ 9:30am
Giving this a try. I never thought about it, but it's true. Alien worlds should look.....alien.
crgzero 2 Feb, 2019 @ 11:41pm
I like this, definitely going into my next play through.
