Would love to see a Dragonfall version.
Thanks for this awesome resource.
Bastion 20 Apr, 2014 @ 3:24am
could you do a version of this lovely mod for dragonfall please?
Crusher Bob  [author] 6 Aug, 2013 @ 9:26am
Ok seemed to be a problem with the eyes_control tattoo. Have put up a version 2 of the pack that hopefully solves this problem. But updateing files and updating the version number and republishing it seems to put up a new entry in the workshop. Will leave this version up for a few days, then try unpublishing it to see if that'll take it off the workshop.
Crusher Bob  [author] 6 Aug, 2013 @ 8:53am
Trying to add this pack to a modified form of DMS, so I can publish it for people who aren't as familiar with the editor and it keeps crashing the scene. Looking into it. Maybe a bad file?
Sugoi 5 Aug, 2013 @ 8:38pm
Okay. Extracting the pack makes it show up properly in the editor (the editor refuses to open the zipped version), but whenever I try to load my test scene with a merchant that has all the tattoos added to their inventory, the game hangs. This is pretty frustrating. :(
Ren Tsune 5 Aug, 2013 @ 6:05pm
The editor recognizes the files being in two places, along with the replayable version of DMS and the street sam catalogue which both work, what I can't figure out is how to actually add them to a shop.
Crusher Bob  [author] 5 Aug, 2013 @ 5:24pm
I don't have the content packs in their unpublised form, so it's hard to tell what's going wrong with problems with adding it as a dependency. If the editor isn't seeing the pack when you call up the dependency list, you can get it to 'see' the pack by opening it first, and then opening the pack you wanted to add it as a dependency to. It may be safer to unzip the pack ???\Shadowrun Returns\Shadowrun_Data\StreamingAssets\ContentPacks, then open the 'unzipped' content pack in the editor, then try adding it as a dependency.
Kanjiimufu 5 Aug, 2013 @ 4:36pm
@DeBaser485: I tried adding it to DMS, following the guide Muffintruck has posted in his Cyberware-UGC, but the scene i edited is not loading. I am currently trying to find out what went wrong.
Gimmelots 5 Aug, 2013 @ 3:54pm
Trying to add this to DMS: I opened the editor and opened the edit content pack dependencies, but this pack isn't showing. All that is showing is SNES Reboot and Life on a Limb. However, the comtent packs I've subscribed to show up in the content list in the game just fine. Am I missing something?
DreadPiRo485 5 Aug, 2013 @ 3:09pm
@Kanjinmufu: to what do you add it as a dependency? Do you need to create your own content pack? Is there a way to safely integrate this into DMS? My previous efforts corrupted the content pack or something and I had to reinstall. I'm going to go on a limb and say I did something wrong...
Kanjiimufu 5 Aug, 2013 @ 2:49pm
@Sugoi: had the same problem. I was able to add it as a dependency after I took the .cpz-file (it's in the Steam/ userdata/ etc. directory), moved it into Shadowrun Returns/ Shadowrun_data/ StreamingAssets and extracted it with 7zip.
Sugoi 5 Aug, 2013 @ 4:48am
I can't seem to reference this as a dependency for creating my own packs. It shows up correctly in content listings, but isn't an option in the editor. I've made sure that it downloaded to the correct location, so this is something of a mystery.
Muffintruck 4 Aug, 2013 @ 10:16pm
That's cook, Maja! thanks for the info. I haven't taken a look at 5th edition at all yet. I'll have to take a look!
majaguru 4 Aug, 2013 @ 9:13pm
Roku and Muffin, 5th edition has brought back some magic tattoo goodness especially for adepts. They're called Qi Foci and grant adepts specific powers. This is a brilliant adaptation tamerlanemohammad! At least right now in SRR cybered street sams walk all over the melee fighting adept, so these are badly needed, and even if they fix chi powers it's still good to have some kind of alternative to cyber for them. That said, I'm as bad as everyone else and also cannot seem to make my editor do the things I want it to, like adding your back to other sets, so I'm looking forward to your version of DMS!
Muffintruck 4 Aug, 2013 @ 8:29pm
Roku, I can't remember distinctly from 2nd edition (I'm still pulling out all of my books for creating content contemporary to DMS); but I do know for certain that tattoo magic exists in 3rd edition. It is a type of metamagic ritual that combines Enchanting and Quickening to anchor a spell into the ink of the tattoo. The ritual must be done during the actual tattooing session, you can't quicken an existing tattoo. Details can be found in "Magic in the Shadows" on page 78.
MasterRoku 4 Aug, 2013 @ 6:39pm
question, is this based on the game? I never played 2nd or 3rd, played 4th though, and also, i feel like the adepts don't need as much help as the cybered up streetsams
DreadPiRo485 4 Aug, 2013 @ 2:41pm
When I've tried to add the Content Pack Dependencies, it crashes the Shadowrun Editor and I'm unable to load the Seattle content pack...? I can't seem to add it to DMS.
Violation 4 Aug, 2013 @ 12:12pm
you may wanna touch base with Tracker.bmp he is working on shadowrun core book sets complete to 2nd / 3rd edition books. I believe he has most or all the ranged weapons done and is currently working on cyberware for his pack now.
Crusher Bob  [author] 3 Aug, 2013 @ 10:30pm
If you are just having problems with packs you downloaded not showing up in the 'content' section, then it's probably steam sending the downloads to the wrong directory. See here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/234650/discussions/0/864974880575881666/ for a sample tread about it.
Crusher Bob  [author] 3 Aug, 2013 @ 10:23pm
If you aren't familiar enought with the editor to add this stuff to merchants, I'll be publishing a copy of DMS in the next few days in my mods cooked in. But working on getting cyberwear sorted out right now.
Langreda 3 Aug, 2013 @ 8:07pm
This is legit man, good job
Phonyxus 3 Aug, 2013 @ 4:19pm
Hi tamerlanemohammad I'm really interested in this mod, but unfortunately I'm hopeless in modding, could you give a step by step instruction on installing this please?
Phonyxus 3 Aug, 2013 @ 4:06pm
No I don't think this would cost essence, the very point of adept is to utilize chi-skill enhancements on close combat. Yet they don't get the same buff up as cyborg samurai does, which undermines Adept greatly.
Sol 3 Aug, 2013 @ 3:22pm
do these cost essence?
0utlaw 3 Aug, 2013 @ 2:56pm
Sovereign, S.Samurai have hand grenades and spread damage by weapon. They have to spend an AP to reload, but thats about it. My mage ends up carrying a rifle most of the time only until he hits III spells and ends up being a buffer/healer with some AOE spells.
Muffintruck 3 Aug, 2013 @ 1:53pm
And by no means am I dismissing those who chose to go chrome . . . afterall, given the stuff mentioned in my las comment, that's what my adept ended up doing.

I hope we see more things like this to make adepts a little more attractive.
Muffintruck 3 Aug, 2013 @ 1:52pm
This seems a step in the right direction. I found myself terribly let down by just about everything having to do with adepts. Having to dump a buttload of karma into chi casting to get access to an incredibly limited selection of abilities, that were lackluster to begin with, put a sour taste in my mouth. There are absolutely no options for a ranged adept in the game, no options for a social adept, not even options for a basic athletic adept. Not to mention having to use AP to activate abilites that in the PnP were passive just further taints the adept path. A sammy just dumps some nuyen on some chrome, loses a stat that doesn't affect them at all, and gains stats that are constant at no AP cost. Meanwhile an adept must dump karma into a nonsense skill, diverting said karma from the skill that are needed, must then dump nuyen (though admittedly less) on abilities that are not constant and consume AP to use.
Metushelah 3 Aug, 2013 @ 11:32am
but isnt the samurai suffers from losing the essence by high recharge rate same as mages or adepts? though he usually has less abilities to charge but still?
i mean mages and adepts have pretty neat stuff as is that does area damage or ignore armor, what does the samurai has to compensate this?
autoexec.bat ☢ 3 Aug, 2013 @ 10:03am
i don't get it. it isn't showing up in the list, just "seattle" and "shadowrun_core". maybe I'm just too dumb or it is too complicated ;-)
think I'll just wait for u to finish this up^^ (well, maybe I'll try it again later)
Crusher Bob  [author] 3 Aug, 2013 @ 9:52am
If you have a chi-casting of 4, you are already heavily invested in Adept abilities. Adding any essence cost would simply make the adept abilities you invested in much less useful. Compared to a samurai who doesn't need to buy will power or chi casting, and can then spend essence, which they don't need anyway, on getting more abilities through cyber wear.

I made the chi-casting requirements high (skill 4 and skill 6) so that dipping into it just to get access to tattoos would be costly.
zel 3 Aug, 2013 @ 8:26am
This seems potentially unbalancing if there's no essence cost to these
Crusher Bob  [author] 3 Aug, 2013 @ 8:24am
Once I get some other background packs done. I'll try to republish a version of DMS that includes all of them.
Crusher Bob  [author] 3 Aug, 2013 @ 8:23am
If you want to use them in another pack, open that pack with the editor. Choose File->Edit Content Pack Dependencies. Check off this pack. That makes the pack you want to play able to 'see' the new gear.

Now, to add it the the game:
In the editor, find a merchant you want to add the outfits to. Open up thier character sheet, goto the equipment tab. Then in the equipment lists, look for Merchant_Magical_Tattoo, and add that equipment list to the merchant. Save everything in the editor. Note that the Tattoos count as cyberwear, so you'd have to add them to a doctor.

Now, you should be able to goto that doctor in the game and get Tattoos installed.

As this is built as a 'cooked' pack, this procedure should work even in other cooked packs, like Dead Man's Switch.
Gimmelots 3 Aug, 2013 @ 7:57am
How do I activate this with my copy of DMS?
autoexec.bat ☢ 3 Aug, 2013 @ 6:53am
sounds interesting. where do i have to put it?
