Creating gas relief valves for the fuel/ballast tanks helped a lot too with the compressed gases update.
You're welcome! And yeah unfortunately it sits quite low in the water now.
Took me like a week of looking over everything to make sure there were no leaks or fluid in the wrong place. Old engine version sits normally, but the modular one sits low. Dry weight is also almost the same. So I'm pretty sure it is all the coolant in all the long coolant pipes that is weighing it down.
Had to put radiators pretty much everywhere and pipe coolant there to cool the ship with the new modular engines, and then finding out that each radiator & heatsink lowers coolant pressure as it passes through. So I had to create multiple coolant loops with a total of 20+ radiators & heatsinks both large and small. Must be thousands of liters of coolant in total I realize now that it is done lol. Not the most efficient system I know.
On the plus side, you can pretty much run the engines at full power in 3rd gear at I think roughly 40kts without overheating, even in the warmest parts of the map.
Thank you. And I may update it again at some point, haven't played the game in a while so I have no idea how many things have broken over the last year or so of updates.
Thank you very much. And I don't have any real plans to update it at this time. But at some point I may get interested in the game again and then I may update it.
Depends on what you mean, in the game itself you have the option of using the already existing fuel tanks or build your own larger tank using the various blocks and components, but there are some tutorials on the internet on how to do that as it would be long to explain here.
If you mean on this ship itself, there are two tanks placed in the rear and one large in the front.
Thanks a lot! And I'll try to keep things updated over time as long as I have an interest in the game. Since I don't really use any game exploits in the design I have been lucky enough to avoid it breaking completely, for the most part. Which is good as I swear that every time I come back after a longer break I lose some of my sanity trying to figure out the interconnected spiderweb of logic systems that I and others have made. lol
Thank you very much, I'm glad you like the ship and the various details! And yeah the old stuff is more or less there for the time being as a backup while I was testing some things. In the future they will be removed at some point.
My only complaints (if you could call them that) is that the deck winches and fluid pumps are outdated. Regardless this is an amazing ship.
Yeah it can do that sometimes.
They changed how some things work with the engines a while back so they have been a bit weird like that, particularily since the water jets were changed to be more powerful while also running "heavier" so to speak. But yeah depending on what gear you are in the engines might not have enough power to actually turn and will just die.
When starting it is a good idea to throttle up a fair bit or alternatively manually switching to props instead of jets.
I might get around to optimize the engine setup in the future, but no promises. As it is the 4th time I have done that since release now haha.
There is no automatic navigation system on this vessel, so you'll have to do the piloting yourself. However there is a heading hold which will maintain the current heading.
Thank you very much!
When the ship was first uploaded it did reach the top of the Stormworks workshop for a day or two. But unfortunately I uploaded it when the arctic update was released, so it had to compete with many of the more skilled creators who uploaded their own arctic versions like the Arctic Dolphin for example.
So unfortunately I think the odds of her getting any real attention anymore is rather low. But I'm happy in having made a vessel that people enjoy that luckily enough also hasn't completely broken, yet at least... lol.
Hmm, that is strange then. There has been a few others that have had problems with engines from time to time and I have never had any issue with them myself, so I wonder if there is some kind of error in the game itself or something like that.
I just tested it myself and I had no problems starting any of the engines with either the engine room starter buttons or the ones on the bridge. Stupid question, but did you enable both fuel and either the main or emergency battery?
I added the handheld locator and there is a larger locator and transponder built into the ship as well.
The various handheld tools.
Fire hose with pump and water tank belowdecks.
The annoying yellow error triangles have also been fixed.
I also tried converting the radar system into the newer LUA type of radars, but discovered that they can only detect moving objects and not terrain? So for now the old radar will stay, but in the future I will probably add one LUA radar on the roof and keep the current bow radar for terrain avoidance.
It is on my list of things to do whenever I feel like playing Stormworks again. Got a bit burnt out on the game for now.
But yeah, the new radars will be implemented at some point along with the updated Marine radio as the current one may be broken.
It used to work before, but I'll check it out as I must have disconnected something there at some point.
I'm taking a break from the game for the moment, but I could add it as a separate Workshop item at some point in the future. However, feel free to just copy and paste it onto a different ship in-game if you want to use it.
I looked it up quickly, and for some reason the radio channels were set from 8-72. I also seem to have a way older version of the microcontroller compared to the latest one. But I set the available channels to 1-72. Not sure if that will still work or if I'll have to rip it out and add the new microcontroller.
Gonna have to be a future project though as I just moved and started working this week.
But one day when I get back into the game I'll add it as well as some other changes I have planned.
I'm not actually sure, it was like that when I put it in. So it is possible that I made a mistake when adding it to the ship or it is designed to be like that.
Glad to hear that and I hope she will not let you down out on the rough seas!
Thanks, I will probably not update it in a while as I'm taking a break while moving and also taking a break from the game. Though I'm sure I will update it at some point it the future as they add more new things to the game.
Thank you very much! And maybe not the best one out there, but certainly quite a good one!
Thank you for checking in on it for me!
Hmm, I did some testing with everything running, and in my testing it was only the radar that caused any serious power drain at around 3rd gear.
The reason radars use so much power is because the rotors started using alot of power around last summer if I remember right. Though I do have plans on switching out the old radar for a new LUA one at some point. Just that I'm closing in on my final exams in school at the moment, so it might take a while.
