How do you build bases like this? I’m still somewhat new to Kerbal, and I’m not sure how to build anything like this.

Hi ThreePounds, glad you like it! I always build the fairing first, without clipping into anything, I think it's the only way to make it work! Another technique is that I:
1. close the fairing around a small round part on the top
2. take away this part, then attach it back into place
3. The fairing now disappears
4. Ctrl+Z, so that the fairing reappears and the part disappears, but it can be added at will without influencing the fairing.
5. The faring is now "hollow" and independent.

Hey Juggernoob! Absolutely impressive base. The idea to use fairings to build free form shapes is ingenious and I wanted to test it myself. However, when I try to place them clipped into other parts the text turns orange preventing me from placing the sections. How to you circumvent this problem? I've tried the debug menu option for part clipping to no avail.

Lol that's a lovely coincidence! I can't remember when did I hear of this idea, but I found it pretty impressive. Before seeing this, I didn't really take these threats into account when thinking about surface bases.

Ok, I will upload the rocket in maybe one week because right now I have to travel a little bit. And that rover too. When I do I will leave a comment here.

I added two parts to the base: One for fixing the ladder that Kerbals often couldn't "climb out", and one command chair by the entrance as a last resort to leave the base if the ladder still doesn't function well. Have Kerbals stand inside the dome near this chair, then right click on the chair and teleport to board it.

Yes this base is exactly named after this place in Norway!
It's that buggy ladder that prevents you from getting out of the base...I hate it but I may have to add a command chair somewhere to enable Kerbal teleportation...I'll take a look of the ladder and try to solve the problem too.
Yes this is stock, as I wrote in the title!

Nordkapp? Like Nordkap? That's the northernmost point in Norway! I now this because of reasons.

TJplays, yeah I got this problem too but have figured it out, check my last Design Note ;p To be concrete, I closed my fairing around a small adapter on the top.

Aww I'm curious, what else is Nordkapp? I'm actually role-playing ESA and want to name my bases with mountains (alike) and stations with rivers in Europe
