I just brake a little early and it kicks in, but yes, scary.

AM afraid i have to agree with the comments re the braking absolutely shocking i would hate to put my life into relying on them in a real life situation .Mostly when light engines used the independent as much as i could

Yes, very touchy. :)

I didn't realize on these you have to apply to what you want, then back off to Lap to hold that. Otherwise they just keep building pressure.
RBJets  [author] 22 Feb, 2021 @ 1:05pm
I think if you leave the brakes around 21 to 23% you can still apply power.

I love the scenario, great one as usual. But, I'd forgotten how annoying the brakes on the EMD GP9 were. And the cab is so dingy! I quit in frustration.

Hmm, I usually I leave enough room for a drop but yes feel free to edit those if needed. :) Thanks Tom.

Like your other scenarios, this one offers plenty of switching activity, which is my favorite form of railroading. However, here and elsewhere, I have trouble with the length of the track markers that require uncoupling from or coupling to both ends of an engine or car (run arounds, in most cases). Centering the drop-off, dropping, and picking it up from the other end leaves me with one of those awful X marks on one end or the other. I'm thinking of editing your work to extend those markers, if you don't mind. (Of course, I'd rather have you do this.)

I sometimes find the setting that works but I cant remember now. :) Thanks Rammy.

Excellent work RBJ
RBJets  [author] 29 Mar, 2019 @ 2:39pm
Thanks so much crlynch and welcome. FYI: 2 scenarios uploading in the morning. (Soldier Summit)

Nice work great to leave the main track,as usual full of interest.thanks again for all your great work which never fails.
RBJets  [author] 27 Mar, 2019 @ 4:26pm
its all good, just remember I work them when I can and upload them as soon as they are done.
Robbie 27 Mar, 2019 @ 4:23pm
sorry i don't mean to ask but some of other scenarios on the workshop have rolling stock that is not available because of BNSF licensing restrictions
RBJets  [author] 27 Mar, 2019 @ 4:11pm
Cool, yes. End of next week and every time u ask if its ready I'll push it back 2 days. :)
Robbie 27 Mar, 2019 @ 12:35pm
I finally got a hand on the breaking systems on these GP9 locomotives witch is very tricky but I think I can manage on Soldier summit witch is probably what you’re working on next
RBJets  [author] 27 Mar, 2019 @ 3:36am
Thanks Warren. Fun one to make.
wadawes 26 Mar, 2019 @ 11:37pm
Very good again RB. Yet again, I got to see places I'd never been before.
This one was a little trickier than usual with the combination of "dodgy" brakes and inclines. You need to carefully plan speeds well ahead of time on this one, but it kept me on my toes.
Many thanks RB. Cheers, Warren
Robbie 26 Mar, 2019 @ 7:51pm
I will try that tomorrow one of the hardest routes I have had a hard time braking is Cajon pass and even Stevens pass and Marias pass because the dynamic braking sucks on the ES44DC locomotives and the ES44AC locomotives as well
RBJets  [author] 26 Mar, 2019 @ 7:27pm
When you apply the brake and what it to stay at a certain setting lower the brake and you'll see the lap option, it will hold the brake and most of the time you can still use the throttle to maintain a speed. every loco is different. you just need to experiment.
Robbie 26 Mar, 2019 @ 6:42pm
what is the lap setting
RBJets  [author] 26 Mar, 2019 @ 6:14pm
Use the handbrake, it helps when stopping and use the "lap" setting while moving.
Robbie 26 Mar, 2019 @ 2:29pm
Great scenario but very hard to stop these EMD GP9 locomotives on steep grades but one way or another I will manage to get it and I know you’re working on something else right now
RBJets  [author] 26 Mar, 2019 @ 8:04am
LOL, yes...thanks Chris. :)
chris5012 26 Mar, 2019 @ 1:39am
That was a superb scenario - one of your best RB!! Took me 100 minutes to complete but I do like to take it a bit slower to make sure I have all the switches done correctly!! After all there is a lot of truth in that saying "slowly slowly catchee monkey" or at least I think that's right!!:steamhappy:
Robbie 25 Mar, 2019 @ 1:41pm
My dad used to work for CN rail for about 37 years so he was always gone out on the road for long periods of time and you could emagie how tiring it would of been to go towards northern Ontario and back to Toronto
RBJets  [author] 25 Mar, 2019 @ 1:36pm
Really theres no time to reach max speed (60) before next stop.
Robbie 25 Mar, 2019 @ 1:22pm
That’s okay somethings you can go a slower speed then main line track speed
RBJets  [author] 25 Mar, 2019 @ 12:58pm
I didnt run full speed on the mainline so it could be a little shorter.
Robbie 25 Mar, 2019 @ 12:26pm
Wow 90 minutes that’s your longest scenario ever I will try it later tonight
