Agreed. I've tried to argue the same thing. But there are many others who claim that the output is "fine" as it is. I've also argued that if this mod had a [Mod Options] menu to adjust the output, that could satisfy everyone. But such arguments seem to fall on deaf ears. And the author hasn't replied to comments here since July of 2021, which was just to notify that the mod had been updated. The next most recent comment by the author was March of 2020.

Assuming an average weight of 200lbs/91kg and average body comp, an amateur cyclist should have a sustained output of 63w/min using some simple math: 3.5*91/5=63.7w
That's only sustainable for a few minutes, so in reality it should be a little lower... although I'm not sure how that would stack up taking into account minutes per game tic.
I now have a use for all my "willing" prisioners that I force to work (:
These human powered generators are not treated by the game as a recreation or joy activity... are they? If not, then how can the Prisoner Recreation mod help? Is it to prevent one's prisoners from being too moody or depressed to do labor?
basically my kensi camp gets attacked by raiders, and i capture some and then the join me (at the cost of some food), and then they work the silver mines :)
time to do le slave labor
If there was a setting in Mod Options, then everyone could set it to whatever they want without resorting to .XML file editing. Then everyone could be satisfied and this discussion would be moot. BTW: While I haven't tried it yet, I've read that
XML Extensions can allow for easier creation of mod settings.
I think the 500W is more about balance, not realism.
I think the value is fine.
"Fitness Level. Your sustainable power output depends on your fitness level. Some elite athletes can maintain 350 W or more for more than 30 minutes. A fit recreational cyclist, you can probably maintain about 200 W, while the average, untrained person can produce about 75 W."
Consider that some players want to play with multiplayer with friends. Or, maybe, they want to do a let's play video and provide a mod list for others to follow. Do we tell everyone else to load up an .XML and change the file like that?

Would use again
Would it be possible to allow the seating spot on the cycle to not block out things like TV viewing area? It would be nice if my colonists could watch some tv while they do their workout :p
Cons: Prisoners can get buff as fuck and snap your warden's neck with two finger.
