Someone absolutely needs to nab this mod from the depths - this character was so fun but because of recent updates and mod incompatibilities, this character is unbelievably broken. Anyone salvaging this mod would be a blessing.

I've always kinda liked this character myself, but I have noticed a couple of bugs with it:

1. With more recent updates to the base game, acquiring the "Memories" relic makes it so that you can no longer remove cards from your deck (attempting to do so instead adds a copy of the card you just tried to remove).
2. I had noticed upgraded 'latent' cards not maintaining their upgrades myself, but hadn't found the cause. This is mentioned in the "bugs" thread: Cards that upgrade to different names (rather than just card+) don't retain their upgraded status if you save and quit a run then resume it.

While there are balance problem with this character (Amnesia, Bravery/Blizzard) I would absolutely love to see this character updated again, even if it's just to fix the bugs mentioned above.

Great mod, but it's relics are available to any class. Making it annoying when I don't wanna see some of them and just want an egg.

I play a lot of mods and this is probably the one I go back to the most. I love the feel of this character. There are a few bugs though.

I hope you make more Guileless. I've thoroughly enjoyed your Tifa mod too.

I actually hit the same quirk as the last poster: I had "Reflect" active and used the "Dark" card, so the self-imposed damage reflected against me infinitely as the Slime boss just watched. Was very confused, then very amused.
I do like the mod, though. Nice work.

Great mod!
Not sure if it's exclusive to this mod, but if I use the card "Reflect" and end my turn with at least 1 "Constrict" debuff; it gets stuck into an endless loop of hitting myself for 1 and blocking that damage - without block ever actually getting reduced or otherwise. Had to restart the combat, which is fine. :shrug:

Off course, right after posting that I read the actual description of the character, duh. However, I still think it should be mentioned within the game. All information should always be available on the screen.
Bug: the card "Astra" only let's me keep 1 card of the 5 instead of 2. The upgraded version doesn't change anything.

When playing this character, before each combat a curse called "amnesia" enters my deck. This curse is not in my deck to start with so I can't remove it at the shop. There is no explanation anywhere though that this curse is something this character gets. The starter relic also doesn't say this. If this is intentional and it is in fact a part of this character itself and not of a relic or anything it should be mentioned somewhere. Also, I think it's too powerful and random. When you draw this curse, it immediately discards another card in your hand, effectively leaving you with 2 less cards then normal (one unusable curse and one discarded). This is too unpredictable and too much of a drawback when you get it at the wrong time.

Hey, quick glitch I noticed

If you use JAX while under the effect of Reflect, you softlock

if that changed anything, I also had tungsten

This change is really just on the technical side. I didn't add anything that would make such combinations common or likely but if you did want to do some sort of custom run that combined them then the retains would work off each other.

Is this meant to be purely on the technical/code side, or did you intend for double-color decks (e.g. via Prismatic Shard) between this mod and the Watcher to interact in some form gameplay-wise?

Thank you for the kind words and being patient. I'm uploading a patched version that works with v2 (and doesn't add all her cards to the Watcher's card list). I've also changed her version of Retain to function in the same way the Watcher's does so that the cards can have synergy between them.

I made another character mod, "Bartender" (Tifa from FF7). It wasn't my intention to make another FF character, let alone one from the next game in the series, but it just kinda turned out like that.

There isn't an easy way to toggle the relics, so after thinking about it I decided to put them back into the general pool (excepting Pendant and Memories). If you don't want to see them then just disable the mod which is an easy toggle.

Minor Tweeks -
Reflect: Effect applies before block and not afterwords.
Quick: Draw a card when played
Dispel: Now only dispels non - unique buffs(thank you Jen for suggesting this in bugs/fixes)
Mystery Veil: Upgrade allows you to choose which cards are discarded, still exhausts, is now Rare.
Bug Fixes-
You properly turn back into Terra if you die while in Trance.
Her relics now only spawn for her.
Fixed bug upgrading Haste and Slow.
Unchanged- Amnesia is still in there unchanged, sorry folks but I like this mechanic for some reason.

I made some significant changes in this patch
New Keyword: Fast - Discard card if another card is played while this card is in your hand.
Balance changes to - Balance, Minerva Bustier, Falchion
Removed - Berserk
Added - Stop: Stun enemy and apply a stack of Intangible.Fast, Exhaust.
Major Card Changes -
Diamond Shield: Gain 4 Block.Fast.When discarded by Fast draw a card.
Tornado: Deal 1 damage to all enemies for each card in your hand at the end of a turn.
Transpose: Keep up to 1 additional energy between turns.
Libra: Select cards to move from your discard to your draw pile. Draw an extra card next turn.

So. I downloaded the character recently and either I'm doing something very wrong and my standardized tactics that work for the basic characters have no effect here, OR the character is severely underpowered. I seem to have trouble even reaching the second boss, sometimes dying to the first one, even if I focus on a build, unless I get the chemical X and Valor, in which case I can get to level three and no further...

I'm probably doing something wrong.

I am a long time Final Fantasy nerd and absolutely love this mod! I found a way to seriously break her using Esuna and using the temporary buffs like Faith and Barrier just get the temporary buff to max and throw Esuna buff is now permanent! I'm still new to playing (relatively speaking) and haven't beat the game yet but definitely have fun playing it overall and this character has given me something new to work towards! I have found running with Amnesia the entire time is sometimes frustrating and I like seeing that you can get rid of it with a boss relic. I haven't noticed anything terribly buggy or misfiring with the cards or there effects very well done all in all.

Naw that was just a goof up on my part. Holy is supposed to get a damage boost when upgraded but in order to make it not scale with strength or other damage boosts I am instead using its magic number to determine damage. So the increase in damage is ignored because it doesn't scale with damage. I fixed this, I also buffed the card a little bit because this made me realize I never use Holy. I'm uploading the update now.

I've played over half of the custom characters at least once, and this is for sure my new favorite! More than a few solid combos available and basically every card is understandable. I love the nod to the Final Fantasy magic system with the Latent upgrade trees. This character's a blast!

I will note that Holy+ doesn't change the card at all; is that card not upgradeable on purpose?

That has....NOT been my experience. I tend to lean towards thundaga or watera (with the snazzy new str down effect, you're great btw) over blizzaga personally.

the following cards are busted: ice brand in conjunction with bravery, the card that gives block and 1/3 attack 1/3 damage reduction, the card that gives block and 2 shell take 2 shell away in conjunction with the artifact attack. The blizzard attack is also nutty for the same reason ice brand is. Most other cards don't really matter.

Bug report. Multiple uses of shell power decrease the total amount of damage block received. second use lowers from 2 to 1.

the fact that amnesia is unremovable is not fun. if pendant is too powerful and needs a curse to balance it out, maybe reduce the power of pendant? i'd be happy to play with a weaker pendant or no pendant at all, but i'm not happy to play with a curse that i never get a choice about having or not having. it insta turns me off of the mod.

I did make special exception for some buffs not being removed by Dispel, for instance without Mode Shift The Guardian just throws haymakers at you non-stop, but wasn't able to come up with a way to concisely and accurately convey the idea of "removing all the not-interesting buffs". Doing so I feel would always surprise people about what Dispel did and didn't actually remove.

I was concerned about Dispel making fights less interesting, as a general rule transformation is more interesting than negation. So for instance Mama is more interesting than Esuna because Mama makes new things happen but Esuna makes things not happen which, as you said, can lead to sameness as everything reverts to the norm. I included it because I wanted to respect the FF6 spell library and also because I didn't think much of it I wanted to explore the design space and found it more interesting than I had previously given it credit. Firstly because it has interesting synergies with cards like Water (which temporarily remove strength, but if you Dispel them after casting Water they just permanently lose that strength), and secondly because I feel the power fantasy of it is satisfying while not being generally over-powered. You get to be Alexander chopping the knot in half, which while less intellectually stimulating of a task than solving the knot is fun in its own way.

another bug with thundaga, against enemies with thorns, you only take the thorns damage when all the thundaga attacks are done, not once every attack.

bug report: thunderga has a weird interaction with pen's nib, if i have it active, then it does no extra damage, and when at 1 attack to activate it, the first hit activates it and the other hits get boosted and dont waste the relic effect

You currently have an ability that removes enemy buffs. It feels pretty reasonable in terms of power level -- however, many enemies (particularly in mods) implement unique combat mechanics primarily in the form of buffs. (Examples: Holly Bat, Snechameleon, Goblin Nob). The removal of their unique buffs feels like it makes those fights kind of same-y, since it removes the things that make them interesting combat encounters. I suggest either making the buff removal temporary, or having it just remove non-unique buffs (e.g. strength, plated armor). Mull it over!

Also, I like what you did with Amnesia. It's an interesting way of granting an otherwise-strong character a flaw, and can be played around with a thicker deck or Poisona.

Bug report: Upgraded Thornlet is strictly worse than un-upgraded thornlet. (2 dex and 2 vulnerability upgrades to 2 dex and 3 vulnerability. I suspect the increase was meant to go to Dex.)

Thinking about Amnesia being irremovable. I made it so because originally you would just go to the nearest store and remove it first thing and I felt it was an important part of her characterization. I do like Papa Steel's idea of having a boss relic upgrade that would upgrade pendant and remove Amnesia but I don't think that alone is powerful enough for a boss relic. Perhaps making it also give you a choice of a fully upgraded Latent card?

Fixed: Bravery, it now stacks properly. Mythril Glove now activates when bought bloodied.
Buffs: Remember, Crystal Sword, and Vox.
Changes: Water now temp removes target's strength, Thornlet and Focus now give stacks of Weak and Frail respectively.
+ Probably other things I did but forgot to write down.

I've been unable to replicate the Magnus_Hat bug, is it possible that Amnesia was discarding it? Introducing "Retain" and then giving player Amnesia is my favorite joke.

Working on figuring out the problems with damage calculations, seems to be an issue with the order of operations of the adding/subtracting/multiplying working incorrectly.
