That is correct, OP.

The latter Mod adds full suport for breeding VFEI Insects, but has none of your improvements or advanced changes. I would like to see that either incorporated by a Patch or have you add that in yourself.

As for Kwamas (as Veronicafoxx brought up), that's impossible with their canonical cycle. A Kwama Queen produces baby Kwamas that grow up into different castes, like the VFEI Insect Queen does.

The only thing that I would really be after is cross-compatibility with VFE Insects, since I just started using that mod, and the Alpha Animals Black Hive insects. Possibly also Morrowrim - Kwamas. Some of the Black Hive insects don't breed, and the kwamas don't at all, but they also have an odd life cycle with the scribs turning into multiple adult forms per lore (but not in game). That last might be something too complicated to manage in this. The Black Hive from Alpha Animals is enough for me in that regard. I don't know all that much about VFE Insectoids yet, but knowing that I could tame and breed them via this mod would be amazing! I've tried taming a few, like the gigalocust, that immediately untamed and reverted to their hive. Doing whatever it was you did for the bugs for this mod to make them neutral after downing would be perfect.

You want this Mod's features and his combined, with yours taking precedence when they overlap. I miss my Adamantium, I miss my eggs, I miss my Makeshift Hives... but I love Taming the VFE Insects...

I ask because I remember you talking about these two other mods in the past at least once, so I want to understand what you're looking for from each of them is all.

I need to refresh myself with everything before I can take a dive in so let me know.

VeronicaFoxx - I still can't remember why I didn't update it to 1.4 so it may run fine as you state. Is their anything you dislike or wish was different etc? Since i'll be in it soon may as well ask :)

Please consider cross-checking it with the Vanilla Factions Insectoids Expanded Mod when you finish that. The Insectoid Improvements Mod covers them, but like I said a long time ago, yours is better than theirs in every conceivable way.

@TheGoofyOne I've been using it for all of December and January with nary a problem. Seems to work perfectly, just needs the tags to say that it is compatible.

Yes let me know. If it has issues and it's a simple enough fix I may get back into it and update it. I just rarely play with insects any more and lost the drive for this mod.

Out of sheer aching to use this again, I loaded it up in 1.4 at near end of my mod list, and it appears to be working at first glance. At the very least, it hasn't made anything explode and my game hasn't crashed. So, I'll play with it turned on for a little while and let you know if it borks everything.

I once thought about making a Patch between this and the Insect Improvements. This Mod never had support for the Vanilla Factions Insects Expanded Mod. This Mod is vastly superior to the former, and I'd love to see it updated and even made compatible.

It made having an Insectoid Supremacy ideology actually viable and worthwhile, as the insects provide you with resources instead of just bodies for the grinder. I also really loved making tons of giant insect statues to put around my colony and make it more insecty. So, please do!

I haven't looked close at the errors when trying to update it to 1.4. I wasn't sure anyone used this mod still. I'll try to find some time this weekend to peek at what it may need to update. :)

The lore on the insects has changed. They are from a different world now and not engineered for combat.

I get these errors on boot-up of Rimworld every time, is this something you're able to fix at all? Or it this something causing a conflict?

Insect Husbandry is much thinner. It just lets you tame and use the insects.

I feel that it would be a good idea to contact the man behind the other Insect Mod and ask them for help. Or better, work with him to combine your Mods.

That other Mod adds taming VFE Insects, but it also causes Vanilla rendition Insects to give live birth , eliminates their ability to carry anything, and other changes that are good, but so limited.

I pine for your Mod every day, but I can't give up that good VFE stuff. The Insects you listed there are part of the VFE Insects Mod, not his creations.

Basically, I want your Mod's features and his combined, with yours taking precedence when they overlap. I miss my Adamantium, I miss my eggs, I miss my Makeshift Hives... but I love Taming the VFE Insects...

safe to use both? well i will try i don't really care about taming insects i just want stronger and more variety the armor and skulls will be nice

@Turtleshroom - What compatibility are you looking for exactly? To have all the insects from VFE Insects be just like this mod changes vanilla insects to be? Be able to be tamed and to breed with eggs? I've never used that MOD but have downloaded it and can start a play through with it to learn and understand it all better.

From the code I see it adds the following insects:
larvae
megapede
gigalocust
royal megaspider
insectoid queen

@Turtleshroom - You're right, any insects that spawn due to higher difficulty world generation inside caves attack even after their hive is gone. I have found the only way to get insects is to tame the ones that show up on the map like random animals do. They show up in all biomes but will test that as well to make sure.

I have read and hear everyone. Let me see if I can put it all together here.

-- If you unload mid save you will loose eggs and anything from this mod and get errors on the first load, but you should be good on the second load. I would save it to a new name first, then uninstall so if it ruins the save its your renamed one and not your real one.

-- Adamantium is used in many other mods, so we will change its name here in this one. HoneyDew sounds doable, TY for the suggestion.

--We want this MOD to also let other insects from other mods reproduce? Be tamed? What exactly do we want here?

--We want to be able to tame insects ....... but RW1.3 makes them never leave attack mode? I'll have to test this out later and see what's up.

I'll work on the simple things while I wait for the cross MOD compatibility details from you guys.

Your Mod is better than the Advanced Insects Mod, but yours doesn't have support for the Vanilla Factions Expanded Insects Mod. I've been trying to convince you and the Advanced Insects Mod author to collaborate and combine each other's works into one perfect Mod. The Advanced Insects Mod author is interested in writing Compatibility Patches for your work, but he is busy with RL. He could use your help!

Or, you could just add Vanilla Factions Expanded Insects Mod support to your Mod, and I can come home.

BTW: "Honeydew" is the name of a liquid secreted by aphids and some scale insects as they feed on plant sap. Certain kinds of ants are known to tend to, protect and "milk" alphids for this liquid almost as if they were ranchers tending to livestock.

Suggestion:

Please consider changing the name of "Adamantium" to something else. For one thing, Adamantium is a popular fantasy metal with a history going back to early Marvel comics and Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. It's also a metal added by various mods, including MorrowRim - Adamantium , Astra Militarum Imperial Guard Core , RimForge , RimForge Rebalanced and many other, older mods.

It'd be extremely confusing to have pawns mine Adamantium ore, smelt it into metal to craft weapons & armor or build walls, and then go milk Spelopedes for a different Adamanium to drink.

Maybe call it "Honeydew", "Manti juice", "Spelopede dew" "Spec dew" or "Sebacium"?

The only conflict issue I had was insectoids not staying in their areas and despite being at 100%,never laid an egg.

I'd be interested too because I love the ability to make your own hive and armour specific for the insectoid, however, I really want the meme stuff. I'd switch mods, but not sure what it'd do mid-game...

This is one of my favorite Mods. In the V1.2 version of "Rimworld", though, Insects went docile after you destroyed their Hives, allowing you to tame them. Now, though, they are permanently in attack mode, making taming them impossible because they continue to attack you until you are Downed.

Do you think you could fix that, please?

Ahh great! I think there was a conflict with another mod that made them lay eggs because they were at 100% but didn't lay any eggs.
