That was brilliant. It took me a week of on/off solving, and cumulatively around 5-6 hours + one tiny peek at the solution vid near the middle of the solve, but holy shit that was very worth it.
Everything about the chamber was very well thought out. The convoluted opening sequence to get even to the laser room, the elusive cube stack to get the third cube , having to play around with the track platform to get all three cubes to the funnel (sadly I did cheat at that part, I didn't even come close to thinking of that ), and just when I thought I was done when I got the white cube at the top, I then had the flickering funnel to deal with.
It's genuinely terrifying how well this all flows together. The only nitpick I had was that I found it very hard to pull of the fling near the beginning (around 2:30 in your solve), It felt a bit less forgiving with the quick portal shots but that aside, absolutely one of my all time favourite puzzles. Outstanding job on making this!
let the companion cubes accompany me to the end at the end, maybe the best end!
Good bye Whole Shebang! Thanks for creating!
My playthrough https://youtu.be/JFIIegaoBn86 (>90% intended I guess)
I also uploaded the way I put the 2nd cube to the edge of 1/2 panel, but when I completed the video,I found it didn't break anything.
so many steps but still with a very clear layout, really remarkable work, big thumbs up! I stuck for a long time with getting the 3rd cube,I didn't realize I should keep two cubes like tutorial room ,I used one cube to practice many times but always failed,my idea was:I wanted to slow down its speed by the funnel when it was born and then let it fly to the lightbridge, hmm required some quick move and shooting……well
which attractive me is that you had to bring them all together, this was the most challenging thing throughout the map imo,I would never imagine that can be established,it was a bit counter intuitive, but when I found this “fairly tame movement”,I had no fear of goo anymore.
Thanks for the note.
A very big compliment to all who worked on this masterpiece.
It's all from the best: very good design, very challenging puzzles in each sections and an entertaining carrying out.
I think I did all intended, it just felt a bit unintended to get the third cube, but it was the only way I could figure out:
The only thing I have to complain about is that you can not turn off the music in these huge maps.
Only the music, not the background noise - all the noises of the whole mechanics and the voices of the turrets are an essential part of this game. But even the best music is a bit annoying after a few hours of playing time.
But nevertheless this map is probably one of the best in Portal 2 !!!
