Sorry for the slow response. I haven't been maintaining the Companion. It is only available via the Workshop. If I find time to return to Editor work on SR:R, I will be sure to update the Companion and get it listed in additional sources. For now, I'm finding all my spare time taken up with Golem Arcana.
I've been totally away from SRR. I've been meaning to fire up and play Dragonfall though.
I'm toying around with the idea of a last update to the Companion to make sure it's compatible with Dragonfall and takes advantage of the little improvements have been made, but doubt it will ever exist in the form I imagined in my mind. There were just too many frustrating limitations with the editor.
I'll try and make time to get back and post another update though smoothing out a few of the rough patches.
The SRC is dependent on @tracker.bpm's Street Samurai Catalog (SSC) for the revised and expanded weapons and cyberware. Your destination UGC will need to utilize the SSC for your weapons and cyberware to properly Import with your character.
Thanks for checking out the SRC and leaving your feedback.
1. Did you Import into UGC that uses the SSC? Your cyberware should transfer if your destination UGC uses the SSC. It won't transfer if it doesn't.
Nuyen won't transfer. Anything you don't spend will be lost. There's no way to track nuyen from one UGC to another.
2. Race does cost Build Points in the SRC. I'll try to make that more explicit, but there's a built in cost in BPs based upon the Race you've chosen. Same as the P&P.
Thanks again for checking out the SRC. Let me know if you have any other questions, comments, or concerns.
1. I have a bug : I have created a character, but when I use him in another scenario, all cyberware and nuyens have diseappered !!! But my Essence was at 1 !! Such a shame for a decker to not have a datajack !!
2. I have played at SR tabletop several years ago, but with Build Points, Race costs some points, and in your version not. Is it normal or just a little mistake ?
Thank you for your job and excuse me for my English (I am just a poor French Guy)
I wish you a lot of success !!
I've been communicating and working with @tracker.bpm on a number of issues. He's returned to the Shadowrun Returns community and updating he SSC which as just gotten a new update.
We have a lot of great ideas for balance and item adjustments that will directly impact the characters you generate with the SRC and then be ready to Import to the many fantastic UGCs that utilize the SSC.
I've been digging into item and ability files lately, but I should be able to turn my attention back to polishing the SRC and taking advantage of the new options in patch 1.1.0.
Thanks again for supporting the SRC.
Big update, but lots of work to the backend that may not be immediately visible. I held off on any changes that would draw upon new functionality in the 1.1.0 patch until it comes out of beta. The changes I made to Triggers/Events/etc though will pave the way to take advantage of new editor options with 1.1.0.
Build Points are now a resource that is awarded and then spent, this will allow for variable Build Point budgets in a future build.
Skills now have the correct cost of 1 or 2 Build Points depending on the Linked Attribute.
Just a warning, there is a bug with Trolls regarding Body and Health. Trolls seem to be getting bonus Health when they are imported to other UGC. I can't find a problem within the SRC and have submitted a detailed and bizarre bug report to HBS. Hopefully we can find the problem, but only Troll characters are affected.
All this is to help with the clarity and ease of tracking information. Cleaning up the original dialogs so I can go back through and add tracking information and UI tips with the new editor options from 1.1.0. Full revision of Mr Skills and Mr Resources dialogs are pending.
Version 0.4.0 of the SRC will be the biggest improvement yet to the SRC and will herald the official arrival of what I consider the Beta version of the SRC. Still lots I want to do, but it will represent a stable version with coverage of all the major Archetypes for Shadowrun Returns.
Expect it in the near future.
I'm reworking the BuildPoints (int)variable to work on a budget like SpellPoints. You probably won't see it on your end, but it makes more sense and will allow for the option of user set Build Points in a future build.
I'm also neck deep in reworking purchasing Skills. Cost of buying Skills will now take your Linked Attribute into account. Up to your Linked Attribute costs 1 Build Point, over your Linked Attribute costs 2 Build Points. I've got the proto-trigger worked out and now I just need to do the full grunt revision of the existing conversation.
Lots of refinements coming soon . . .
Drones are now available to purchase via dialog with Mr Merchant.
This is a basic update offering all the standard drones from Shadowrun Returns at modified prices to match the Resources available in the SRC.
Patch 1.1 should be out soon with some new funtionality that will really help clarify the chargen procedure in the SRC. I'm already brainstorming how I can use the new editor options to better manage info in the SRC.
I'm also preparing to launch the next phase of the SRC which will involve new and rebalanced items, abilities, and spells. This will mark a change which will require supporting UGC content to add these files in addition or in replacement of files they're already using, like the Street Samurai Catalog.
Expect to see a new update this weekend and thanks for supporting the SRC.
A few minor tweaks. Added Mage Sight to all Full Magicians when you pay your 30 Build Points to Awaken. Yes, that means both Mages and Shamans.
Also, added (int)variables to track current Attributes, one for each Attribute. Then added triggers to recalculate that variable when those Attributes are modified. Then set the triggers up in Mr Attributes dialog. The end result being that Mr Attributes will let you know the current value of each given Attribute while you are in the dialog. No need to jump in and out of your PDA to keep track of your current Attributes.
I may make a future change to Skills to do the same, but that will take longer. I had to make 6 (int)variables and 6 triggers, one for each Attribute, and then tie them to the dialog. Doing that for each Skill does not appeal, so for now you'll need to reference the PDA.
Ok. Another significant update to polish the (0.3x) version.
Most significant change was a reworking of the SpellPoints variable. I turned my previous triggers upside down and greatly simplified the system. This really clarified the interaction between Spell Points and additional Spell Points converted from Resources. Most of the changes aren't visible, but really smooth things out on the backend. Expect a similar change to occur with Build Points in the near future.
Lots of conversation polish to improve the foundation laid, or to fix gross oversights as I was trying to clean up conversations. Mostly centered on Magical Archetypes and Skills.
See the full Change Notes for all the details.
My apologies to anyone struggling with a character's Skill choices right now due to this problem. I've fixed the issue and will upload Version: (0.33) tonight. I have a couple other fixes in progress for the same build though, so it might be a couple hours before I upload that.
Apologies again though for anyone that has encountered this.
When I was cleaning up the Etiquette conversation for build (0.31), I accidentally erased the branch of the conversation that would let you finish with Etiquette Skills and go back to Charisma Skills in general. The whole Etiquette conversation should flow better now and the conversation looks a lot less messy than it did earlier, but even better, you can now get out of the Etiquette loop.
Thanks to @ceteramneverdies for finding the loop.
Was wondering if you finally got things working. Glad to hear you sorted it out. What finally fixed it?
Where in the Etiquette menu? I just tried to smooth it out in the last update, cause it was linking back to an awkward stage, but I may have messed up the option to retreat a full step back to the Charisma Skills. I'll look at it tomorrow, but if you have anymore specifics that would be great.
Definitely give a Magic Archetype a whirl when you get a chance. It's rough, so I could use more input from people working with it to help find the problem areas.
Thanks!
finally got the SSC working correctly, loving your update. One minor problem in the etiquette menu, i can't get out! haven't tried a magic type yet. Good work!
Corrected some basic mistakes in Mr Magic's conversation. You will now only be able to choose to Awaken your character once. You can only choose to be a Mage or a Shaman (eventually an Adept and maybe even Aspected Magicians). You also can't choose to be Awakened if you don't have enough Build Points which was being allowed in the first build.
This update is going to have a lot of rough patches and I'll be making numerous small tweaks over the next several days to get it feeling more polished and functional.
Feedback is welcome if you find anything not functioning or have suggestions for better clarity.
Create Full Magicians, Mages & Shamans. Buy Spells and Bound Spirits. Read the Change Notes for full details.
This was the biggest update so far. Lots of new triggers to enable Spell & Spirit purchases. I'm almost sure there will be bugs, so please let me know if you find wonky behavior.
We're approaching a Beta version of the SRC. Look for Adepts and Rigger Drones soon. After that we have lots of clarifying, polishing, and balancing through Beta.
Thanks for supporting the SRC.
Hmm. You might try unsubbing from the Companion. Remove it from your Content menu from the Shadowrun Returns Content menu. Then restart Steam. Resub to the Companion after Steam restart. See if you're still having an issue.
In hope for another solution waiting,
Michael
The SRC currently uses Tracker's Street Samurai Catalog as a Dependency, so you need to be subscribed to the SSC. Over the coming weeks, I'm working toward a solution that will replace the SSC, which is no longer supported by Tracker, but the solution will likely mean a new dependency.
If subscribing to the SSC does not fix your problem, please let me know so we can find the solution.
Thanks
when I startet your Companion, I get always only a blck screen. So I must kill shadoiwrun through the task-manager. The normal game works just fine and also the other workshops I have used until now.
Have you an idea why this happens.
I use Windows 7 with AMD a-4000 3GHz, 8GB RAM and a GForce GT 610 graphic card.
Do I need another workshop for this companion to use?
Best Regards,
Michael
I've been chatting with MrWiggler2U, Allarion, and other about how to tackle expanded resources for the community. I'd love to chat more with you. I'll add you on Steam and look for you today. Trying to get Magic coded into the SRC today.
Cheers,
-M
Version: (0.21) is out now though and makes some minor changes in conversations to improve clarity and cost of Build Points. This build also introduces Cyberdecks to the SRC for the first time. Now you can buy your Decker a really, really expensive Sony CTY-360. You probably have nuyen to burn anyway, but the price will sting if you're still thinking about the economy (or lack thereof) in DMS. You do have to have at least Decking 1 before Mr Merchant will offer you a cyberdeck. More cyberdecks coming soon.
The immediate focus will be on getting a stable and supported replacement for the SSC. There's a ton I want to do and plan on doing. While doing that, I also need to expand the tech to cover Deckers and Riggers. I also need to figure out how to adapt Magic Archetypes in the SRC BP system.
Currently, Tracker does not plan to continue to develop his SSC. As the Companion relies heavily on the expanded gear & weapons, my top priority is refining and iterating on Tracker's excellent SSC. He's laid the all the groundwork, the intent now is to smooth over some of the bugs and rough patches and work on balance so that more UGC developers feel comfortable including the expanded weapons and cyberware.
Today, I'll be updating the SRC so that it includes all the SSC files thanks to Tracker providing his SSC uncooked.
I'll also be updating the Heavy Pistols list to bring it up to date with the Cannon Companion from 3rd edition. The seperate SRC equipment lists won't be functional in other UGCs until developers include the SRC as a Dependency. The goal ultimately is to create a solid and supported UGC that many developers can rely on.
Thanks, chummers.
Has the SSC worked for you at all? If you just start a new character in FM, can you see the weapons and cyberware at the vendors? Have you tried the Training Room UGC that supports the SSC?
Really not sure what might be going on. I played FM for a couple hours last night with an Ork Sammy that I generated in the Companion.
Not sure why the weapons would work for you in the Companion, but not register when you go to other UGC. You have the most recent version of the SSC?
What exactly happens when you load Fragging' Marvelous with a Companion generated character? Is everything about your character correct except for cyberware?
Check out Fraggin' Marvelous by MrWiggler2u for a fun UGC that uses the SSC.
I'll be focusing on getting a new Resources list up and functional to replace the SSC since the Companion loses a lot of focus if there are no expensive Resources to burn your nuyen on.
