No sorry
Han 9 Aug @ 3:27pm
Could you possibly add the increased Skill/Attribute point mods to this?
DeSade 7 Aug @ 9:33am
Thank you for response. Actually patcher is the fix ! Installed it and it didn't crash even once !
Cheesey_Chicken 7 Aug @ 2:32am
Awesome, thanks so much :)

The boss pool files have 3 variants of each boss, and the game will spawn all 3 if you increase the multiplier to 300 or more. I removed the 2 lowest level variants from the files in my x1/x3x1/xmax- versions so that only the high level one remains. You can download the files separately in my "1x High Level Bosses" mod.
Cheesey_Chicken 6 Aug @ 7:45am
Hi, I notice you have a mod that multiplies spawn rate for regular monsters but not bosses - I'm trying to make a mod that does this among other things. When I try changing spawnMinModifier/spawnMaxModifier is seems to multiply the bosses, could I ask how you manage to stop multiple bosses spawning?
Nappa | Argonil  [author] 5 Aug @ 2:53pm
It's a combination of the game engine not being able to handle it and your hardware not being able to make up for the game engine's shortcomings. The game does also crash even without any mods, it's just that dialling the spawns up to 11 also exacerbates the vanilla crashes. Using the 4 GB patcher for 32 bit executables might be able to help, but it can only do so much before excessive compute power is the only thing that helps.

I made the x5 version because it's almost identical to the xMax+ version, it just avoids certain extremes that are very hard for the engine to handle. It should crash less.
DeSade 5 Aug @ 2:42pm
Hello, first of all thank you for this mod its so much fun.

But recently my game sometimes crash when selecting xmax + version. That version afrter xmax5. Do you know any fix to this issue or it is standard ?
Serchant 5 Aug @ 9:10am
Awesome, and thanks for the mod and quick response :)
Nappa | Argonil  [author] 3 Aug @ 8:57am
No mods disable achievements. They did at some point but it changed in an update for unknown reasons.
Serchant 3 Aug @ 6:50am
Does this mod disable achievements? I heard some bounce mods didnt disable achievements..
Skeleton Mage 22 Jul @ 3:06am
Frustrating but it is what it is - thanks for trying to help.
Nappa | Argonil  [author] 22 Jul @ 2:50am
Linux isn't officially supported by the game. The game is a bit janky with regards to loading mods (or even reloading the vanilla game multiple times in a session), so the jank might just be too much for Linux to handle.
Skeleton Mage 21 Jul @ 10:28pm
In addition file verification found nothing missing.
Skeleton Mage 21 Jul @ 10:24pm
I do have a fairly good idea how it should work from when I was playing immortal throne but it was crashing to desktop in a repeatable way.

Steps to reproduce:
Start up the game via steam > Select custom game > Select variant of xmax > attempt to start the game with my bounce character (For the requirement to start the game - not an actual character I have played with) > Game starts to load (the spinning shield icon) > Game gets stuck shortly after > game crashes to desktop with no error message and no mention of being a bounce mode.

The only thing I suspect may causing problems is the fact I'm running linux not windows (or mac ? no idea if it works on apple computers) however the vanilla game starts up fine leading to me to think ether the mod is a fault or the linux version does not support the mod.

Also of not is I'm not trying to run any other mods at the same time.
Nappa | Argonil  [author] 21 Jul @ 8:16am
You are probably not doing it right then. First you launch the mod in Custom Quest, then you get a message telling you it's a "bounce mod", which redirects you to the normal Play Titan Quest character menu. You just choose a character there and start the game, you don't have to go back to Custom Quest after launching it the first time.
Skeleton Mage 20 Jul @ 10:56pm
Does not work for me.

Tried all 4 versions that looks like the standard xMax mod and crash to desktop 100% of the time.
FDK 10 Jul @ 2:57am
Gorgon boss was my first roadblock, was very fun cheesing it with Hunter build. Can somewhat aggro them without entering the room fully to draw 1-2 at a time. But yeah the healing on 3x is wild.

Very fun mod.
Nappa | Argonil  [author] 28 Jun @ 4:13pm
If you are still early in act 1 then there just aren't many hero spawns yet even on Epic, you start to see more later.
DailyFoe 28 Jun @ 7:38am
Hey brother, thank you for such an amazing mod! I love all of the improvements for skills, bug fixes and QoL stuff you included in the mod. It's the best mod I've played for TQ. Great job!

I have a question about hero monsters spawn rate. I'm playing on x4 modifier and I feel like hero monsters don't really spawn that often. Am I'm being unlucky or it's something else?
Can my character lvl affect the spawn rate of monster heroes? Because I started epic difficulty with lvl 25 character. Or it doesn't matter?

The reason I'm asking is that I also play the mobile version of the game and it has a built-in difficulty modifier. Playing the game on x5 modifier makes monster heroes a common occasion which i find quite fun and challenging.

I want to see heroes spawn rate closer to that in mobile version. Can I adjust the spawn rates my self or what can you suggest me?
Mechanos 24 Jun @ 12:58pm
Ah.. that explains it. I ended up beating the gorgons pretty easily with x1. Didn't try the hellhound with x1.. but now I kinda want to. Thanks for the info.
Nappa | Argonil  [author] 24 Jun @ 4:46am
Yeah, the gorgon queens on normal difficulty are unbeatable for 90% of builds because they heal more than you can damage, you just turn it down to x1 for that boss and it's smooth sailing on x3 from there. The Shadowmaw hellhound in the cave is a kind of "superboss", you get an achievement for beating him before finishing act 1, but he is an optional boss. If he destroys you then tough luck, that's what he's supposed to do as a superboss.

The gorgon queens are surprisingly easy on Epic and Legendary difficulty, but on Normal you don't have a build going yet so you're very limited in what you can do.
Mechanos 24 Jun @ 12:29am
Yeah, it's impossible with 3x gorgon healers and a pet build. I'm gonna have to switch to x3x1 or xMax- sadly.

4GB patch does seem to have helped the stuttering though, unless I just haven't triggered whatever causes the stuttering yet.
Mechanos 23 Jun @ 10:15pm
Holy moly. Came across this and tried it today, using recommended x3 on a level 15'ish noob pet build. I have gotten absolutely destroyed by 2 different bosses now lol. Like the gorgans.. the way they spam heals.. I'm gathering some builds just don't have the DPS/tankiness to burst down the healers. I backpedaled away and tried to do previous areas to get extra levels, to make up for bad build.. and ran into some giant hellhound boss that's even worse (when x3). Just melts both my pets, and me, in under a second.

Not throwing in the towel yet. But sheesh. Also, I've noticed the game starts stuttering after a bit, presumably from the extra spawns, as it wasn't doing it before. I think I saw a 4GB patch somewhere.. think it'd help with this mod?

So my recommendations are to play on x5 instead of xMax+, as it's extremely similar except x5 isn't as demanding for your hardware and the engine, and avoids the occasional superdense clusters of mobs which stress the engine to its limits. It's almost the same challenge but less buggy.

I also recommend x3 because at that point some of the RNG and spawn variety is preserved. The level range of bosses is properly randomized, it's still a coin flip whether heroes are going to spawn, and you never quite know how many champions you will be facing. x5 produces much more consistent results with heroes spawning almost every time. It's also much more balanced to play on x3 as you can still engage with mechanics instead of being forced to ignore mechanics and overpower your way through.

[2/3]

The original xMax and this mod's xMax both set the spawn multiplier to 10x. The reason it's only theoretical is that the pools of mobs usually don't contain 10 different mobs for it to spawn. Nothing has changed in that regard from the original to here. It does appear that maybe (?) the bug has a higher chance of occurring if you play on a high spawn multiplier like xMax+, but ultimately it can happen even on x2. I think it might have something to do with how many entities the game needs to keep in RAM, but I'm not sure. It's very difficult to troubleshoot when it can't be reproduced consistently enough to test it, and no long-term changes seem to have any effect. I've gone over every little thing that's even remotely related to it - multiple times over several years - to no avail.

[1/3]

The issue is hard to explain and isn't something that can be easily resolved, unfortunately. The first time you load certain bosses, there's a chance that they don't spawn. It's only possible the first time you load them on a character. You did not need to turn the difficulty down to fix the bug, you only needed to reload the game.

I should stress that it doesn't happen very often. It can happen in the original xMax too and appears to be a bug in the engine.
SwiftRosenthal 3 Jun @ 7:37pm
I played up to Sparta in xMax+. Helos Farmlands was the hardest I've ever experienced it and I died 4 times before clearing the area (Theurgist, so I could barely take any hits and spent a lot of gold on potions - I usually play melee toons). Enemy heroes spawn in threes too (that was a surprise compared to classic xmax), and the earliest hero trio I encountered was in Laconia Woods. I needed to kite the brute satyrs first and then the heroes, one at a time, and then come back with another level-up after clearing the nearby graveyard. I was only level 6-7.

The difficulty was much lower after I finally got my lich, but then I reached Nessus's arena and he failed to spawn. After I restarted, I continued the campaign in only x3 just to avoid that bug, and reached Megara at level 11.

IIRC, classic xMax avoided this problem because the x10 was only theoretical. Most actual enemy spawns were lower. Classic xMax boss spawns were also only x3, not x5.

Thanks for the reply, looking forward to trying out your mod!

Does this mod disable achievements?
Nappa | Argonil  [author] 12 Feb @ 3:15am
Don't overwrite the file at records/xpack/game/gameengine.dbr, keep the one from this mod. Also make sure that you transfer all the files from this mod's resources folder to your merge's output folder, the art manager will try to break them so copy the originals back after building the merge.

It is likely that you will break some thing regardless though, this mod is not easy to merge due to how many parts it has.
Marius.Servius 11 Feb @ 10:00am
Hello, thanks for the mod. Can you give me some modding advice? I try to add modded abilities to this mod, but I break increased monster spawn no matter what I try.
manolistog 27 Jan @ 9:02am
Congratulations and thank you very much for this! I feel like playing the retail back in 2006 with
bug fixes! And the difference is remarkable! And, at last, some loot dropping as it should be!
Be well!
kajad000 26 Jan @ 11:03pm
Thank you for all this!
Skarn 4 Jan @ 10:48am
alright, thank you for your answer
Khaziir Everflight 4 Jan @ 9:14am
To me it seems fairly baalnced. you do get more loot (due to more loot drop opportunities) but that means more trips to sell/store. experience seems to be fairly well balaanced by reducing "per kill" exp gain as mentioned in the description. I personally'd say, even if you use the 1x variant, it's a clear improvement over vanilla in my books.
Skarn 4 Jan @ 9:08am
I was curious, how balanced is this?
Edible 4 Jan @ 8:11am
does this disable achievements?
Arfenik 6 Dec, 2024 @ 8:43pm
I love this mod. Thanks for it.
endersblade 18 Nov, 2024 @ 10:41pm
I figured it out. I combined this with Soulvizier, and ended up unpacking Text.arc, combining both modstrings.txt, and then repacked.
Nappa | Argonil  [author] 18 Nov, 2024 @ 7:41pm
endersblade that is a good question. Can you give me some more details about which item it is? Are you using this mod as-is straight off the workshop without any personal edits? It indicates that the mod's database didn't load properly for you. Did you go back to the main menu and reenter the game without launching the mod again?
endersblade 18 Nov, 2024 @ 5:14pm
Why am I seeing items with AFBFtagItem in their name?
loo 15 Nov, 2024 @ 3:04am
このMODのお陰で敵の数10倍でないとプレイしたくなくなってしまいました。TQ2でも敵10倍MODが出るまで購入する気が起きないです。素晴らしいMODを本当にありがとう!
Nappa | Argonil  [author] 9 Nov, 2024 @ 9:26am
Player count will increase the mob density further. Find the setting you like.
J-B 8 Nov, 2024 @ 10:26pm
If I play six player multiplayer, will the player count multiply the amount of monster with xmax, or what is the preferred setting with multiplayer?
Thank you for your hard work.
Nappa | Argonil  [author] 29 Oct, 2024 @ 3:11pm
It is possible by replacing the normal behavior with the aggressive behavior so that both settings are the same, but then you lose access to the normal behavior which is why I haven't implemented it. I don't like taking features away. I don't think it's that cumbersome to click aggressive at the start of a game session anyway.
Nappa | Argonil  [author] 5 Oct, 2024 @ 2:52am
Oh, yeah the mod is not just an XP farm, I don't care for that. Use the original XMAX or Massbosses or Chuck Norris mod or whatever if that's what you're looking for.
TwelveYO 5 Oct, 2024 @ 2:44am
@Nappa | Argonil
Oh thank you.
I didn't realize there was another version of the file. I appreciate the loot plus as it can get in the way when I want pure leveling.
But I guess it still diminishes the experience gained...
Nappa | Argonil  [author] 2 Oct, 2024 @ 11:39pm
If you use the XMAX FTW version linked in the description, you can play the x3Hardcore version which is my personal favorite with 3x enemies 1x loot -50% XP per kill which makes it closer to 1x experience, or the x3x1 version if you don't like fighting 3 bosses. Read the description of XMAX FTW in the link.
