These overlapping problems should only appear on New Game species creation in any case. The Modify Species screen works ok regardless of scale.
I'm sure the Creation Interface Mod would solve all those problems, anyway, so that's my recommendation.

@KYDuck I'm planning a mod to "scientist" most of the game's localisation, which would also expand on the rest of the traits, so keep an eye around.
Might try the creation interface mod and see how they play together
