No problems so far with this mod, thanks alot!
@GodofDrakes
Just thought I'd let you know that proper, original popularity competition has arrived. Do you plan to start working on an improved version of your own, with different unique twists?
I've gotta agree with what you're saying; I always thought that's what Audiosurf should be from the moment I saw Audiosurf. I was initially disappointed with mono mode, but since I discovered this mode... well just look at how many hours I've racked up on Audiosurf thanks to this mode xD
Have you seen the "Tough Songs" discussion I started in the "discussions" tab here yet? (Or anyone, for that matter) xD I posted a few songs that I find particularly challenging in crash mode there if you want to take a look (;
Traffic: 1737
Length: ~7:29
Block density: ~3.87/second
Best search terms: "fire and flames", 1st result
Here's another fun one for y'all:
Traffic: 952
Length: ~3:12
Block density: ~4.96/second
Best search terms: "lily scarlet rose", 2nd result
Hopefully people have fun with this one ^^ If you know of any SoundCloud songs with a block density of ~3.75/second or higher, please share right here in the comments where everyone who has crash can look before playing songs (;
In short, the mode is more a streamlined Mono than a mod to Freemode.
Part of the fun for me is in the challenge. 'Through the Fire and the Flames' is crazy fun with a block for every note. I get where you are coming from though. It takes some getting used to.
Otherwise though, the idea behind this mod is exactly what I was looking for; only color blocks with no grid puzzle, no randomly awarded points (freeride mod is guilty of that), and no option to let the computer take over (freeride mod even giving me that option quickly obseletes my normal play, which makes me feel like trash when I try to normal play any songs that I've already let the computer do). Many kudos to you @GodofDrakes (;
Thanks! :)
I made a slight modification of this that makes you go almost four times faster, since I've really gotten into going super fast with this game. It's incredible how fast this game can go just with the changing of a few variables.
Great work here! I love this!
I'll be sure to get this mod once I get AS2.
Yes there is. In AS1 you can insert tags into the identification information of the song that allows you to change how AS generates the track for it. I use [as-monoonly] [as-nogrey] [as-nostlth] [as-hidepuz] [as-steep].
You can do this manually by putting the tags after the name of the song (whihc is different from the name of the file) or by using a tool like Yet Another Audiosurf Player to do it for you.

Fixed it by changing trackwidth (string 39) to the default 5.
uphilltiltsmoother = x,
downhilltiltsmoother = x,
The value works the other way around. Closer to 0 is more smooth, while closer to 1 makes it steeper/less smooth. Tried creating it from scratch and got it working.
