[WOTC] Sawed Off Shotgun Overhaul

I somehow managed to get it to work and have dual-wield sawed-off shotguns, but now for some reason every time I want to melee enemies, it says that I have "sawed-off shotgun range damage modifier -4" for some reason even though I have the akimbo mod and akimbo class on the character with the dual-wield unclocked so I don't have the damage restrictions in theory. But somehow my akimbo dual-wielding soldier can only deal 2 damage to any enemy now. Does anyone know what to change in the mod so it doesn't penalize Shotguns?

I can, in fact, use double sawed-off with the Akimbo class but they're not able to shoot with them, only overwatch. That may be an issue because the sawed-off is not set as a "pistol" category but I'm not sure

I can confirm the conflict with PCP Marine. I had the same exact issue and disabling this mod fixed the issue.

Just a PSA: This mod seems to not work well in my Proficiency Class Pack mod list. Adding this mod causes the Marine from PCP to not have a pistol shot ability (or point blank for that matter), just pistol overwatch. Removing the mod fixes the issue. And no, resetting configs, restarting campaign don't help.

Could be a bad interaction with a specific mod somewhere on my list of course, but I post this because several people on the PCP thread have reported being unable to fire the sawed-off and have no clue of what's going on. So if you decide to try this with PCP, check if it breaks for you.

Hello! I've discovered that this mod is missing Open Class Weapon Restrictions as an requirement. I've found that it works reliably with that mod. Even managed to make work with True Primary Secondaries.

Rebalancing really makes sawed-offs an option that organically fits as a trade off. Will admit to having some teething problems in getting it to be compatible with some other mods, but that's why I'd like to thank how configurable this is. Nice!

Anyone else having trouble with the sawed off primary animations? As a secondary weapon and duel wielding they work great, but when used solo as a primary weapon they're using the same animation as the secondary sawed off shotgun. Also the inventory image for the mag sawed off primary is broken for me

Well, good news is that it does work, whatever the actual balance winds up being. I just had to go to the LoadoutAPI config and add it to PistolCategories in Mod Jam. Thanks for the response!

This mod is not meant to work with LWOTC out of the box. I don't know what Mod Jam does to this mod, if anything.

Asked on Mod Jam, but will ask here, in case this is a question you might be able to answer.

Despite having primaries assigned to all turned on in this mod, ASR assigning sawed offs to pistols, AND TPS assigning sawed offs to lrimary slot, both mod and mod jam configs... no sign of a primary sawed off shotgun. Secondary works a charm.

Am I missing something obvious? I assume it would be something Mod Jam related, due to scope, but I can't think of what.

Hi! I equiped the sawed off shotgun and try to shoot with it but the damage is blocked to 1. Strangely the weapon stats seem normal and show 3-5 damage. I tried to check the config file but all seem in order and even when I change the damage point, in mission it stay at 1.

Everyone who have proplem with primary sawed-off shooting: subscribe ability to slot reassignment. Then go to config/xcomabilitytoslotreaasignment and on the right top corner there is WeaponCategories=(pistol, sidearm)). Change it to WeaponCategories=(pistol, sidearm, sawedoffshotgun))

Base game pistol abilities like the standard shot and lightning hands (But not pistol overwatch oddly enough) do not appear as an option, and the issue persists with or without Ability to Slot Reassignment. Modded in abilities seem to work though, both Aimed shot and Gunslinger function just fine.

What kind of abilities are you trying to use? And what do you mean by "can't use". Do their icons just not appear or the icons are there, but are inactive?

Do you have Ability to Slot Reassignment? (You're not supposed to have it, it might mess with abilities)

Alright so the issue of not being able to equip it in a primary slot was because I had beam shotguns already, standard mid campaign issue there, my bad, it also seems it doesn't start you with a primary conventional sawed off, so you can't use one in primary slot until you get mag shotguns. Also I still can't use abilities on them.

This mod does not enable dual wielding out of the box. In order for it to work, you need all the required mods + all the companion mods.

I cannot for the life of me get this mod to work, even with only this mod and it's dependencies it only allows the sawed off in the secondary slot, and the only ability it can use is pistol overwatch, nothing I do seems to fix it.

Other pistol perks should work, except Quickdraw, which works only with secondary weapons. I don't recally if it also checks if the source weapon is a pistol.

Seems like a fun mod. Would love to create a soldier with a sawed-off as their core. But I am curious whether the shotgun or pistol perks work on them. I read in the features that fan fire and face off wouldn't work but does that mean the other pistol perks could?

@Iridar, so I am testing out this mod and I have run into a curious issue. The Sawed off shotgun is getting its overwatch ability, but not the standard pistol shot ability. However pistols are now getting two pistol standard shot abilities. I am unsure what could be causing this to occur. Any suggestions I could do on my side as a potential fix?

Those are sawed-off shotguns. The same ones as on this mod's screenshot. This mod allows you to dual wield sawed-off shotguns, added by LW2 Secondary Weapons mod.

It does not do anything for any other kind of shotguns.

I don't understand the question.

It works fine on my end, so you're either doing something wrong, or you have some other mods that somehow conflict with this. EIther way it's up to you to figure out.

There's no "secondary primaries" mod.

Yes, you need to remove these ; in the XComClassData.ini:

It's just not letting me use the shotgun as a primary, I mean I can't use it in akimbo either, there are also classes where I can't use it as a secondary

yes i did that but what exactly do i edit? I remove the ; and it doesn't work, I think it has to do with the compatibility with the secondary primaries mod
