sorry for the super late reply but thank you for the advice, ive gottten it to work a while ago and also i can confirm this mod still does work ive never stopped using it

Just a heads up: As far as I can tell, playing the game with other mods such as Bt anyhow, this mod on my end looks like it is working as intended.

@Elon Musk -- also this mod doesn't currently work properly, and I don't know why, so maybe take my advice with a grain of salt. If you get it working let me know what you fix, or feel free to put up your own version.

@Elon Musk -- look at the reddit thread linked in the sidebar, it tells you how to make this mod. Download the mod and add a condition to the can_colonize_province section that duplicates the is_colonial_nation condition but make it be for client states (I don't know what the actual condition tag is, you can find them on the EU4 wiki, it's probably something like is_client_state).


So you'll have a section that's something like

FROM = {
is_client_state = no
}

below the part that stops CNs.

could you make a mod where client states cannot colonize? im looking all over the workshop for a fix and i have a mod where i can make client states anywhere, so, im having an issue with British Malayan Siberia and British Fiji baja california. If you know where to go in the files to change and modify this pls help bc im struggling and I can do it im just not sure where to start.

Also anyone noticed that CN cannot colonise oversea provinces on their colonial region? they can only colonise provinces land adjacent. anyone known why? anyone knows a mod that fixes this?

any possibility to limit the colonial nation expansion to their colonial_region ONLY if there are empty provinces available on its colonial_region? by other words if the colonial nation has no colonisation target (province) on its own region it can colonise anywhere (other regions)?

@Chef Boyardee -- descriptor file is there, I don't know what to tell you. Sounds like Steam Workshop and/or Paradox Launcher being weird, sorry I can't help more.

Doesn't work for me now, Caraibas started colonizing Colombia. (on 1.30.3, before 1.3 it worked fine for me)

I've been looking for something like this for a long time but was unable to find it. My question is that is this mod compatible with Beyond Typus? A mod which adds new provinces and for colonization, new colonial regions.

Is it possible to add this as a toggle in the Vassal menu (or decision to begin with)?

Paradox added a "colonize", "don't colonize" toggle in the vassal menu, would love if this feature could be moved there, but I am unfamilar with EU4 UI modding, so I don't know if it's possible.

@colorlessness I colonized vinland as Norway in the new 1.30.1 version, and found out that the new feature to block settlement growth is not about stopping the colonies from expanding. But from using it's colonists to give new development points to already colonized provinces. Your mod is still very relevant. It doesn't work as of now but take your time and thank you.

@gus_ral -- yeah, I'll probably update it for 1.30.x, might be a bit tho. It was still working with the last 1.29.x. I need to see how the new colony management thing works; one of the dev diaries made it look like this mod might be less necessary now.

Could you change the title of the mod or something? I was looking for a mod like this for a long time and I found it by accident. It might be easier for people to find if the description of the mod or title had more keywords

@nfaaz616 -- Yes, CNs can conquer land. This mod just stops them from sending colonists outside their own CN. Adding logic about wargoals is outside the scope of this mod.

@Grey-Warrior — that’s an issue with the new launcher, not this mod. Try deleting all files in the mod directory and let Steam workshop redownload everything. If that doesn’t work, try unsubbing and resubbing.

@kill_off -- this mod doesn't do anything to the map; the only issue would be if the other mod also touched 00_scripted_files.txt. So (for example) I use it with Beyond Typus and it works fine. But things like MEIOU&Taxes probably touch some of the same files and wouldn't work (I haven't looked, that's a guess).

Hey man I dont know how to mod however this is amazing. However something i would love for u to add/change if u dont mind. Once a cn has all of its cn territory it starts colonising for your other cns if it is loyal. If not loyal it takes land outside for itself(once it has all territory in its own area). I dont know if u can or anythig however appreciate if u want to talk over my idea more in depth in a discord call or something. :D

Turns out I had a custom nation mod still enabled that was messing with you mod, disabling that mod fixed it

While this mod does work, it doesn't allow my CN's to make boats, at all. Effectively making them even more useless than they were originally. I'll gladly bite a territory bullet over not having their forces at all.
