@Mailleweaver : did you find a mod which moves the ore detector's detection to only in front of the ore detector?

Aaaah, I can see that, because they BOTH have to access the same cubeblocks entry. You could make your own patch of it fairly easily; you just would need the permission of the other mod creator to do so.

i moved it too the very top, the problem is with the mod that animates the ore detector and antenna

Do some testing on it, let me know if you're running into any errors or anything with the mod that you can get logs on. But I didn't run into anything with my usual battery of mods.

So I'm testing this and I'm not running into any errors and it's working as intended. Do you think it could be possibly conflicting with some other mods?

to be honest i did try it and couldnt get on with it haha, with this mod just extending the ore detectors its helped me find alot more ores, especially with me using a deeper ores mod, if you wouldnt mind updating it that would be hugly appreciated i believe its literally down to how keen have changed how plugins ect work that it broke this haha, havent been able to find a single one that works and ive used your mod since you released it xD

I actually just got back to playing after being away for more than a year - you probably should check out Draygo's mod, I think of the same name - way better than this with a lot of functionality. But if there's any desire for this mod it's not too hard to fix I'd just have to re-release it as a new mod since I've changed computers and haven't figured out a way to update existing mods I've UL'ed from a different computer.

it just makes the sphere a bigger sphere, AFAIK the detector bounding box is hard coded as there weren't any other variables or hooks in the entry except for its radius.

So, does this make ore detectors directional like telescopes or did you just make the existing omnidirectional ones more omniscient? I'm on the hunt for a mod that changes the detection range to a cone (or at least shifts the detection sphere away from the detector) so I can point the detector at what I want to scan and not detect anything behind the detector.

If I had any scripting ability I'd try to implement that idea - but sadly, despite all of my mods being code tweaks and overhauls, I'm just a game design grad, so I can only work within the mechanics of the game, and most of their resources are dated or don't exist so it's just up to whatever I can figure out on my own.

You know what would be cool... Is if this added a sensor block that we could point at a roid and get graphs like in the picture. We then have to interpret those graphs. The graphs could have noise and interference from Fe, Ni, and Si in the stone. I'de be fine with that working from 50km+.

It's been less crashy and laggy these days though it still seems to lag after playing in a world a while with voxel deformation building up and just general happenings but that's just all on its own. I haven't noticed any impact with this.

nice, when i first attempted offline in 2014 modding the files directly it was catastrophically lagging... i guess they worked on the code of the scanner... an other dreadful bug was increasing the laser antenna... it gave me not "Blue Screens of Deaths" But Black Screens! i had "Windows ME" and even "that" never had those! (tho Blues ones came by the dozens per day!)

a long time ago i modded the game files directly doing this... it lagged to no end... does this also or did the game change enough internally since 2014 to not suffer as much?
