Russian dude... I would also suggest that the Ottoman Empire be given a blocker for the printing press for a certain period of time because printing books was banned for Muslims, especially religious texts in Arabic script (e.g., the Quran). This ban was in place from the late 15th century onwards for religious reasons. Initially, only non-Muslims (Jews and Christians) were permitted to print in their own languages. Book printing was not officially permitted for Muslims until 1727, but only for secular works. The Quran was not permitted to be printed until the 19th century.

Would it not be easier or at the least possible to get rid of or make institutions useless then add effects for tech groups again?
NDefines.NDiplomacy.KNOWLEDGE_SHARING_INSTITUTION_GROWTH_MONTHLY = 0
NDefines.NDiplomacy.KNOWLEDGE_SHARING_DURATION_YEARS = 0
NDefines.NDiplomacy.KNOWLEDGE_SHARING_COST_PERCENT_MONTHLY = 0

^ Dude, every is going to ask for knowledging for every one every day, I think it's better just change the nowledge sharing speed to very very long
Printing Press:
Will never spread to Confucian or Shinto provinces.

Actually, the mod does not seem to work at all and I have no idea why because everything seems to be OK with the files. Might be a me-problem.
gavagay.real 11 May @ 6:24am
Knowledge sharing seems to work again unless I am hallucinating. At the very least, it is kept on the month tick by AI and adds progress to an institution.
Sputnik 8 May @ 1:47pm
I checked the latest file, it turns embrace speed are halved only for renaissance and all others are the same of original version, is this expected?
Cholo 26 Apr @ 7:37am
Again I thank you for this. Since introduction of institutions game has become unplayable. Very much apreciate your work.
Prinz Ramen 19 Apr @ 1:41pm
Can you increase the weight of historical birthplaces of institutions? Like, if able, Florence has higher chance to become the birthplace of Renaissance, etc.
Zarion  [author] 18 Apr @ 9:39pm
@gavagay.real I fixed that issue, thank you for finding it.
gavagay.real 13 Apr @ 12:41am
Trade company efficiency from manufacturies institution is bugged. It now gives +20% efficiency, like feudalism. It should be 125 percent.
In 00_core file in common/institutions folder "trade company efficiency" line should be 1.25 instead of 0.2

Can this mod being applied on Ante Bellue?
Bubisarma 31 Mar @ 3:26am
I m playing as Russia, year currently 1632 and Global trade still hasnt spawned, Novgorod trade node is the largest by a fair margin, please help! How do i spawn Global trade?

Regarding Knowledge Sharing, the AI is spamming the interaction to me, and between each other. Wondering if thats an issue due to other mods im using, or of its the 'downside' to effectively disabling it with this mod.

If it is, then a good idea would be to change the AIs decisions values for the interaction, making it 'impossible' for the AI to accept it/want it.

I dont know how to do that myself, have looked around but cant find the diplomatic action for it, in the meantime, ive increased the duration of knowledge sharing, so while it doesnt do anything, since it lasts longer, the AI cant ask about it
Zarion  [author] 22 Mar @ 7:28pm
@Wi-Fi Mero, I see what you mean, I've fixed it up. Thank you for finding the issue and showing it to me.
Wi-Fi Mero 22 Mar @ 2:25pm
@Zarion You don't have the 'owner' bracket. 'can_embrace' checks the province by default. if you look at vanilla Renaissance you will see that can_embrace has the owner part there.
Zarion  [author] 22 Mar @ 11:13am
That wasn't intended, I believe it was a relic of an older format of bonuses. It's been fixed.
gavagay.real 22 Mar @ 4:56am
Hi, in the current version of the mod Manufactures give +125% goods produced modifier instead of +10%. Is that intended? And if yes, why?
Zarion  [author] 21 Mar @ 7:54pm
@Wi-Fi Mero, I'm not seeing that typo in my version of the mod.
Wi-Fi Mero 20 Mar @ 6:46am
can_embrace = {
owner = {
OR = {
technology_group = western
technology_group = eastern
technology_group = ottoman
technology_group = high_american
}
}
}
for industrialization
(sadly steam edited out the tabs
Wi-Fi Mero 20 Mar @ 6:45am
Fix for enligntenment not spreading:
in the mod's common/institutions/00_core.txt file replace enlightenment's can_embrece field with:
can_embrace = {
owner = {
OR = {
technology_group = western
technology_group = eastern
technology_group = ottoman
technology_group = high_american
}
}
}
Schrader 15 Mar @ 10:44am
Enlightenment is not spreading to any provinces
✪ Tax 9 Mar @ 5:55am
Good day, the mod currently has a bug as of 1 week ago: Enlightenment does not spread for anybody. In the conditions it says that it can spread if you are of Western tech group, however it still considers the condition false even if you are Western
momo19 27 Feb @ 1:37pm
I got the Industrialization back. Either you fixed something or It was some cache problem on my side.
gavagay.real 25 Feb @ 3:45pm
It delays absolutism. Other than that - yeah, not a big deal :) The difference from trade center limit in the base game is that I never saw English Channel not having a level two trade center. My current situation would happen often enough.
Zarion  [author] 25 Feb @ 11:12am
That is currently how the system is set up, but the fallback is the same as the default fallback for trade center level in the vanilla game, so it's not that weird. A delayed global trade doesn't effect any other institutions or tech cost so I don't see why it would be a major problem.
gavagay.real 25 Feb @ 10:59am
A question about global trade spawning condition. In my current game the best trade node is English channel (as typical), England has most trade power there but they do not have a single trade company province: they directed all their effort to colonizing Americas. Does that mean, per your rules, that unless anything changes we will have to wait until after 1630 for the institution to spawn? And if yes, I am not sure I see the point of that.
Zarion  [author] 25 Feb @ 1:10am
I've implemented all the new tech groups. High American has always been equivalent to western in the mod.

The other bugs mentioned shouldn't be caused by this mod since I don't touch the interface.

I've also fully implemented the slowed spread based on tech groups. So I'd love feedback on how that works out in game.
Kaiser 23 Feb @ 4:58pm
Venice got the birthplace of the Renaissance even though Mantova did so in the institution map it shows Venice as the birthplace of Feudalism. but the modifier for Venezia says birthplace of the Renaissance.
momo19 22 Feb @ 1:29pm
A for ideas for development, there are several tech groups that are not included in current version yet. Groups like polynesian and aboriginal should be penalized more, I saw Australia being too advanced in my Japan game. And maybe High American can be equal to Europeans, seeing that it can be accessed in non-exported game.
momo19 22 Feb @ 1:28pm
Sorry, Industrialization is missing, not Enlightenment
momo19 22 Feb @ 1:18pm
Hello, thanks for updating, this update actually got me back to playing EU IV. I noticed one potential bug that does not affect me yet but probably will. Enlightenment tab is missing in institution tab.
Szabtom 22 Feb @ 1:14am
So, I am NOT crazy, hah :) Thank you for the super quick fix!
Zarion  [author] 21 Feb @ 8:21pm
I see the issue, I've updated the mod to fix it. Knowledge sharing now does nothing and should end immediately.
Szabtom 21 Feb @ 4:12pm
I just started a new game, and I noticed that Sharing Knowledge for Renaissance works normally, i.e. it does not get cancelled the next month, I am seeing this between European nations. The year is 1459.
Has it always been like this, and I just did not see it?
Szabtom 19 Feb @ 11:13am
One of my favourite mods, thank you for keeping it up to date.
Zarion  [author] 8 Feb @ 4:11am
Sorry for the major pause in updates, I should be able to keep up with maintaining this mod much better in the future.
specifically_vague 6 Oct, 2024 @ 10:37am
Please update! This makes the game playable again
Burch 29 Dec, 2023 @ 3:11pm
Will this still work for 1.33?
Wodan 10 Oct, 2023 @ 7:22am
will be 1.36 updated?
kpssitsch 12 Aug, 2023 @ 6:41am
doesn't work properly anymore
alekord15 31 Jul, 2023 @ 12:08pm
1.35.6 works?
Yeetus The Mighty 23 Jul, 2023 @ 3:56am
Is this still working?
Maddy 20 Jun, 2023 @ 2:02am
Yeah this is not working anymore its causing a crash in 1701 for me on 1.35 :( I removed it and the game worked
KappaS 18 Jun, 2023 @ 3:36am
Thanks for this mod as it's certainly much more historically accurate. But I think that we should have some events or mechanics to allow some countries to adopt the institutions.

For example east Asian countries should be able to Westernised themselves after contacts with European countries. Perhaps if they choose 'open door' policies they could be lifted from most of the restrictions (we could introduce events to make this more challenging, just like the problems that most nations encountered during westernisation? This could allow some room for alternative history and more fun when playing non-European nation's.
Schrader 10 Jun, 2023 @ 9:37pm
good stuff, thanks!
Az 4 Jun, 2023 @ 8:13am
please update
Maddy 29 May, 2023 @ 11:12am
Yeah I am getting this too almost everywhere has colonialism
Vril 10 May, 2023 @ 6:25am
You forgot about institution events like institution_events.21 in events\institutions.txt which spawns colonialism everywhere outside europe.
Ziemniak 27 Apr, 2023 @ 7:55am
Guys the mod still works in the new update just play even if the launcher says it's outdated it's fine
