Well you could just replace the cockpit with the normal 3x3x3 cockpit. Lemme update my controls guide that I've linked above so you can make your own non-DLC version.

even though it says "required dlc" and I download it without the dlc, will the ship have missing parts?

@mentor_N7 aka mass effect player aswhell but that's not the point you did it and it isnt as bulky as i whould have expected from atmo engines

Oh right! ;) @Locomotor79 check out the F-3 fowl, it was the inspiration for this craft and is an atmospheric ship, made by Mentor_N7.

I don't think this ship would translate well to atmo, but you could either check out my Tempest Atmospheric Interceptor.

Place a piston in creative, delete it, strg-x the piston head left behind, strg-v to place it; can be a bit tricky to place.

It is indeed! I find that they are a LOT easier to work with than actual landing gear, but they do have the drawback of not having collision physics. That isn't a big deal however if you do have actual landing gear blocks on other parts of the ship.
