Could we get a "Survey" satellite that finds new resource locations? For example, it could detect new oil or metal resources.

Also, maybe a satellite relating to climate change - it could potentially unlock city projects to remove buildings that make lots of CO2 or something?

Also, what about launching components for an International Space Station? Maybe a few one-time components to get the basic station operational: Command module, power module, docking station, robot arm. And once those are done, repeatable units such as habitation module, science module, cargo module.

Could maybe even extend to include space tourism?

anyone know a way to edit the XML files so only one of the tier 3 gov buildings are needed? I want to ry this for an occ. I tried editing it but it made it so that they mod was incompatible

Using both together won't make the game crash but thematically it doesn't really make sense to do so. I recommend just picking one or the other.

I'm having a glitch where, after launching the Earth Satellite, none of the other satellite options are available. I have verified I have the mod enabled, and I've made sure I had the requirements for some of the other satellites; but they will never show up.

Hey, can you help me. I never get the option to do solar satellite (I always get all the rest) . In my current game I have about ten cities each with completed industrial zones, so it's not the building requirements. Any suggestions?

yes, although they are different ways to represent the same concept, so I'm not sure if it makes sense to use them together.

just checked, it should say "Your SIGNIT operator", maybe the first letter got cut off somehow? Because it seems fine in the text file.

Oh, sorry for posting again -- but I was looking into the other comments and would like to +1 the idea of a "Star Wars" satellite but I dunno if completely removing the ability to be nuked would be fun... Sometimes a nuke is your only choice in multiplayer to prevent a win, and someone that is already about to win (Science, most often) is also able to shield themselves first, looks unbalanced...

Instead, I'd suggest a (more expensive) satellite that improves your defenses against nukes (increasing the range of SAMs/Destroyers/etc to 2 tiles of radius or just overall increasing their Air Defense score) And a "cheaper" "Targeting satellite" that is perhaps repeatable and increases the range of WMDs by one, So the "running-up" players can try to boast their ranges to threaten the leading player from safer distances while the leading player can scramble their winning efforts to choose between winning faster or improving their air defenses.

I love this mod, it's one of my favorite mods! I do have a request, if possible... Could the "Gossip messages" from the Espionage Satellite be slightly reviewed? I personally think they have a couple of issues:
- Some text standard issues (for example, it starts the phrase without a capital letter "our SIGINT operator..."
- The messages are a bit too long to read at a glance, perhaps it could be shortened a little, for example instead of "Our SIGINT operator has reported..." could be "SIGINT reports that..." and so on!

I know these might be small/picky feedback, but I think they'd be overall improvements to an already otherwise great mod!

I especially like the design of the Broadcast Satellite, the Navigation Satellite and the Espionage Satellite. Hope that Firaxis make something like those in Civ7.

I ran into an issue where only two of these projects (Observation and Espionage) were available for me. The other projects didn't appear in the list for me to build. I have no idea why that happened. In previous games the mod worked fine.

Actually managed to get cost scaling for the repeatable satellite projects to work, thanks to a mechanic added with the heroes mode.

I mean as in, you could send the satellite to view a location on the map. As current satellites do. Maybe give an option to select it, and send it over a certain tile, giving it some sort of large area radius of view?

So instead of the map just being revealed, it would be as if you have direct vision from a drone or plane there. So you could see what units are there, any combat etc.

Would be really cool to have vision over an area and then throw a nuke there, so then you get to see the animation.

Not sure what you mean by the mapping satellite. And I don't think that Star Wars Satellite would be possible to mod.

Also a "Star Wars Satellite" based on the irl star wars plans from the Cold War would be cool. Remove the ability for you to get nuked in your territory would mean that you can start using nukes without fear of getting hit (at least in your own territory)

Can you make a type of satellite that reveals the map as if a unit is watching it? Maybe change the name of the current Observation Satellite to a Mapping Satellite, and use the name for Observation Satellite to have view over a continent or sea.

the AI could, no idea if that causes crashes. Would depend on whether marking so many tiles as visible at once is causing the crash (in that case AI access would be an issue) or if the crash is caused by the rendering engine (in which case it's not a problem if the AI builds it).

it's the same as the original Satellite project, so yes, I think you'd get crashes in the situation you described. But that's what this mod is good for, you can build your space race without having to build an Observation Satellite. That way you can avoid the crashes.

Observation Satellite: the one that reveals the whole map

If I use bigger custom sized maps does this satellite crash the game?

Bigger size maps than vanilha are usually crashing when revealing the whole map

Regarding satellites, there's a game on Steam called ICBM that has a lot of unique ones. Could be a good source of inspiration.

Victor has an ability of "Air Defense Initiative". Maybe a version that, applied to a satellite, that has a lifespan of x turns? Only working on defending against ICBM and no need for Anti-Air unit within city territories? Maybe not 100% protection but 75%? An ICBM that is stopped in space, might triggers an aurora event?

Hey! A little bug report! I've played a game as America and tried to launch the broadcast satellite to win the culture victory. When i launched the Earth Satellite i tried to launch the broadcast but i was not able. I checked how many film studio's i had in my empire and i had 5. Is there a problem with unique buildings? Thanks!
