Also, I absolutely love the zero games so I love this character
For Down Special I have had a few ideas. I want to make his Charged Boomerang attack his Down Special, but coding it is an absolute nightmare due to needing to make everything from scratch.
Crashing I hadn't experienced any for myself until I played as the Yellow color. Turns out it was related to fire attacks such as UpAir, UpStrong and BackAir. For now I've removed it altogether.
As for portraits those'll take a while. I'm no sprite artist, let alone a pixel artist. I also don't have the money to commission someone to make some pixel art for me so in the meantime the current sprites I'm using for his portraits will have to remain.
TL;DR
I'm still working on him and progress is going slowly. Please be patient with me and I will do my best to make a satisfying character for everyone.

- charge shot on neutral B
Some suggestions, including some personal preference:
- down B should be either Messenkou or Rekouha (maybe both if you charge enough, no healing necessary on Rekouha)
- down-smash initial upward hit makes no sense, should just do the rod spin
- down aerial should be Saber Smash (Rakusaiga) where he falls with his sword instead
- side B definitely should be a command grab and not heal
- since Zero cannot move while shooting (otherwise it would trigger side B, down B or up B) maybe it would be better to have the buster shots slightly upgraded like Model O's Buster (Megaman ZX)
- speaking of Model O's, it's down tilt would also be better than the one currently because of range
- some way to do the Renbu combo (Omega's 7-hit EX skill)
