I don't know if I commented on this when I first subscribed, but I've been using this for a long time now, and I just have to say this mod is fantastic. The shells feel like they are properly part of the XCom 2 experience, and are a nice addition which adds variety without breaking immersion.

So, in case I didn't say it before, great work!

Thanks. I found that template and for example:
+GenericTimeOfDayMaps=(MapName="MOD_Shell_Black", eTimeOfDay=eTimeOfDay_Dawn)
will replace the sky but not the ground. And the blackness blurs and tears when moving the camera. I did check to see if anyone else had avenger background mods but I didn't see any. Maybe it's not meant to be changed?

And I had to take back two lines that causes a hung on startup:
;-arrShellMapDefs=(MapName="XComShell_DLC90_ShensLastGift", MissionType="LastGift")
;-arrShellMapDefs=(MapName="XComShell_DLC90_ShensLastGift", MissionType="LastGiftB")

which is odd. No idea why because the logs don't mention (nor does dump even occur).

@Vegeta002 It's not affected. Make sure your current campaign doesn't have any uninstalled mods.

Is there some way to use Character Pool and Barracks soldiers?

I almost never see my own, it's always either randomly generated XCOM soldiers or a generic Reaper.

Since I've installed this mod, I've opened XCom 2 10 or 15 times. So far, I've only seen one duplicated shell screen, and of the ones I have seen, only 3 of the ones in the screenshots here. Every one of them has been amazing!

Does anyone know why my game ONLY loads the shell with the reaper infront of the pod holding the commander? Even prior to installing this mod it was the only shell that I'd ever see when I started the game up

@Object1337🐺shen's shell can't be turned off, it's always shows off when game is unable to load any other shell.
So my recommendation is
1. Use "Remove missing mods"
2. Clear you config folder
3. Start XCOM2 in Challenge mode, just menu, no need to start new campaign.
4. Start game with your mods collection

If you've removed a mod from a running game without using Remove Missing Mods you'll just get the Reaper with the Commander shell screen.

As i understand it is something like a system option ingame.
I've turned off all my mods and launched vanilla WOTC + more shells, i've deleted shen's shell in XCOM2 mymaps, but after loading the game i see it again. I guess it is because i don't complete this mission at my new game save...
This is horrible.

I love this mod very much, but somehow it have a bug with always loading one shell. It is very annoying when it load only Shen's dlc shell, because i f*cking turned it off in settings. If not Shen's it loads first mission shell where saving captain. Why XCOM... :(

@polrax, after activating RMM, load save and on top of saving menu chose unbind mods and save. Then restart the game

So I tried to disable the vanilla shells because the outrider one kept appearing, and so I did and now it doesn't appear anymore, now the only one that appears is the Shen's one, I disabled it just like the other one but it isn't working.

What can I do?

This is such an amazing mod, love all the scenes.
I also wanted to confirm that I was having the mentioned problem with all the shells being the first one with the Reaper. Dragon's suggestion of using the "Remove Missing Mods" mod fixed the problem. Thank you, too.

That final shell, with Advent's city outpost (or whatever that is) - I started the game and it picked one of my wounded soldiers to do the march forward, it looked great - holding his M60, slowly moving towards enemies, as some "you can wound me, but you'll never kill me".
Too bad he fall on his knee after he got to the final position, kinda broke the magic :D:

For anyone trying to get rid of Outrider looking at the Commander, follow the guide above to the maps folder and remove the ; at the line:
-arrShellMapDefs=(MapName="XPACK_Shell_Intro", Bias=2)

I absolutely love this mod. It gives the game so much more life to it. The only issue i have with it is that in one of the shells (the desert town with the freed ADVENT soldiers) there is a group of people floating in the sky T-posing. Laughed my ass off when i saw it.

Absolutely love this mod, the bridge with the ADVENT convoy is a particular favourite.

Anyway.

Had a crash on load, checking launch.log:
[0084.73] Warning: Warning, Failed to load 'MOD_Shell_AVG_Core': Can't find file 'MOD_Shell_AVG_Core'

XComMaps.ini has:
+arrShellMapDefs=(MapName="MOD_Shell_AVG_Core", Bias=2)

But there's no MOD_Shell_AVG_Core.umap in my Content\ShellMaps folder.

@Pejerey, yes I have the very same issue, investigating now....

update: clearing config folder did nothing...

update 2: Ok, I got it. After subscibing this mod, you MUST play at least one tactical mission AND then quit the game before this starts working. It doesn't works if you load and advanced campaign game, you still have to actually complete (at least) one mission AFTER activating this mod.

Working now as indended. Thanks for the great mod !!!

The only starting screen i get is the default one from WoTC with the reaper, it is the only one that shows everytime i start the game, anyone got a simila problem?

@Shade11 It is important but not necessary. But without it, some objects and visual effects may disappear, for example, cars that appeared in wotc
