I make them one segment at a time. i set the first segment to station so it wont move while building. i mark it with paint so i dont lose track of it while building. after building the next segment i move it into place with a tug ship. then i hop out of my ship and manually connect the rotors or hinges in the control panel on each segment. as far as angles to set..... well thats just math and luck and several offerings to Clang our lord and savior. 8) if you look through my screenshots you will see some of the process in there.

how do you make rings?
jmferretmaster  [author] 6 Sep, 2022 @ 4:21pm
you might try my other station.... its better than this one and easier to navigate.
Gammastar station
jmferretmaster  [author] 6 Sep, 2022 @ 4:19pm
honestly cant recall so.... turn on the gps for the refineries.... sorry
taftr_2000 6 Sep, 2022 @ 3:40pm
Quick question.... Where are the Refineries? I want to swap out some of the modules with other modded ones... Been digging around but rather not have to start pulling things apart randomly looking
Macdoo 9 Nov, 2021 @ 8:43pm
Wow, incredible work. Very cool and impressive. Many thanks.
Andebryst 27 Jul, 2021 @ 10:51am
well... amazing build! nothing more to say
jmferretmaster  [author] 4 Jun, 2020 @ 12:54pm
@Sgtlcebox
Right on man, im glad you were able to build it in survival. this was my second attempt at a large spinning station and im currently working on a 3rd one with way better design. im sorry about how much of a pain converting the station from ship to station can be but i never intended it to be mobile. more of a deep space hub. anyway i hope you and everyone else who loved this station will be happy with the new design im hoping will be done soon
SgtIcebox 20 May, 2020 @ 11:14pm
Awesome station, built it in survival and it took me a week+ mainly because of slow component and refining capabilities.
Using the jump drives is possible but setting the 2 modules back to station again after can be a pain.
Currently reworking the station to my needs in creative mode as I use some mods that I wanted to incorporate and tbh even if I loved the spinning parts I had to remove some of the rotors and spinning parts and merge them together to help with sim speed.

Added more cargo space, sorting system, thrusters (to help stabilize after jumps), merged together the main modules, upgraded refineries, assemblers, batteries, solar panels, cargo containers, O2 generators, Jump drives, gyros, removed a lot of conveyor junctions and put in tubes or AQD conveyor expansion blocks, changed the 2 door airlocks with rotary door airlocks, added shield...

@Mahiitsoh @Warwulf13 @Dragonfang-9 Im currently working a new design of this station with a working 4 story Elevator and better station wide access to facilities
Mahiitsoh 27 Apr, 2020 @ 1:42am
@jmferretmaster, Got each section separated into individual bps now and working on piecing them together in singleplayer before I try it on the server I play on. Thanks for the suggestion of a tug ship. That will make it considerably easier as I managed it with a gyro and some ion thrusters with a flight seat. Gravity gen made things want to float away too much. The hardest part is going to be the ring sections and tugboating all those into place. Gonna be a fun project!
jmferretmaster  [author] 26 Apr, 2020 @ 1:08am
Oh and one more thing have a powerful tug ship with the dampners on, anchored on to parts you don't want flying off into space at high velocity... cause rotors.... and cause clang really loves this type of engineering.
jmferretmaster  [author] 26 Apr, 2020 @ 1:05am
@Mahiitsoh I wish you luck, just a few notes. some sections need to be set as stations to anchor the rotational sections. when connecting sections together make sure they are straight, to do this use gravity generators and toggle ship to station a few times to make the alignment perfect. at times you may need to use admin tools to stop all motion to set ship or station. and finally use the original for reference for setting your rotor displacements and such. good luck to ya and lemme know how it works out.
Mahiitsoh 25 Apr, 2020 @ 12:00am
@jmferretmaster, haha. Been working on your suggestion for a couple days now. Absolutely challenging, but worth it. Thanks for the tip on the pre-built ring. Can't wait to see what you do next!
jmferretmaster  [author] 24 Apr, 2020 @ 1:40pm
Also check out the MK 2 Solar ring in my workshop, its a pre built ring for this station
jmferretmaster  [author] 24 Apr, 2020 @ 1:38pm
im feeling the itch to build another ring design here soon
jmferretmaster  [author] 24 Apr, 2020 @ 1:30pm
@Mahiitosh @TheBudaDon For those of you that want to build this thing and not paste it, the only advice I can give is disconnect all the rotors in creative and make a blueprint of each section. then manually build by projection, and place each section together with the use of tug ships. it is 100% possible, immersive and difficult.... true engineering i would say. building the ring is very difficult to do even in creative, i recommend turn damage off when making the final closure cause you are gonna need to slam it shut. good luck to you fellow engineers.... good luck.
jmferretmaster  [author] 24 Apr, 2020 @ 1:18pm
Wow Warwulf13, Thank you for your wonderful praise. i appreciate it. and im stoked that you like it so much.
Warwulf13 24 Apr, 2020 @ 5:30am
@jmferretmaster Absolutely love this station. So much more dramatic and aesthetically pleasing than other stations I've seen out there. Added to my library and it thoroughly deserves the slot. Thanks for all the man hours you've put into creating this. I'm probably going to make a modified version that I can strip down for the multiplayer game, but the original will always have a place on my solo "Creative" space, if only for inspiration. You've raised the bar on station creation.
Mahiitsoh 24 Apr, 2020 @ 12:43am
Love this station. Is there a way to make this projector friendly? Perhaps multiple sections that can be built, then connected at the rotors?
DonBudafuko 9 Apr, 2020 @ 7:41pm
best way to build this without pasting any setup guide for how to do it all? would love to build this not just past it in. thanks
jmferretmaster  [author] 2 Apr, 2020 @ 9:11pm
BenBen, i avoided scripts and mods so that folks like yourself could modify it yourself for your own needs. so yes it has standard airlocks and a simple sort system.... upgrade it and make it your own. thanks for the sub and i hope you can enjoy it for what it is.
jmferretmaster  [author] 2 Apr, 2020 @ 9:09pm
Ty Mordicon, yes I know its a bit of a bruiser on sim speed, wanted to see what this game could do. as it is not all the lights are visible unless you get close to it 8( but i still love this thing.
BenBen 29 Mar, 2020 @ 3:19am
Hi, I have some idea.
It seems that you didn't design much for survivel.
Use timer or scripts like this https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=416932930 for better airlock.
The performance of conveyor system is not well enugh. I recommand to add conveyor sorters on containers to make sure that everything will stream back to containers. Add conveyor sorters to refineries to pump ore into refineries and pump ingot out from refineres.
Mordicon 28 Mar, 2020 @ 10:35am
Truly some nice work, but sadly it drops the Simulations by 30% have yet to find another that is this nice, well done.
jmferretmaster  [author] 27 Mar, 2020 @ 9:09pm
I appreciate it BenBen
BenBen 22 Mar, 2020 @ 4:22am
Perfect station.

KnuckleDragger34 12 Mar, 2020 @ 10:47pm
This, by far, is the best station I have ever seen. My hat is off to you, sir.
jmferretmaster  [author] 2 Feb, 2020 @ 11:20pm
@Chillnox glad it made the dlc worth buying lol. Thanks hope you enjoy it!
chillnox 18 Jan, 2020 @ 10:05am
legit bought the dlc for this haha
jmferretmaster  [author] 8 Jan, 2020 @ 7:48pm
Ty Resurrector, that looks exactly like the old mod to me, at least the walk through rotor anyway. I will sub it
jmferretmaster  [author] 8 Jan, 2020 @ 7:45pm
yeah, as in non modded blocks. and it functions the same with or without dlc so Vanilla still rings fairly true
PassTheSalt 8 Jan, 2020 @ 4:23pm
it says that dlc is required but the description says its 100% vanilla?
Genesis_Viper 8 Jan, 2020 @ 7:21am
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1851669773&tscn=1567762043 try this someones made something vary similar to the old rotor mod i dunno if itll work as its experimental but its from 2019
jmferretmaster  [author] 7 Jan, 2020 @ 7:26pm
yep thats the one! wish someone would update it. such a cool mod
WBGaming81 7 Jan, 2020 @ 3:01pm
I think it was this mod https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/?id=331756575 , it hasnt gotten an update in almost 5 years XD
jmferretmaster  [author] 6 Jan, 2020 @ 8:11pm
Lol @Dragonfang
jmferretmaster  [author] 6 Jan, 2020 @ 4:29pm
By the way, if anyone is able to make a new rotor mod, I would be most interested.
Dragonfang-9 6 Jan, 2020 @ 4:23pm
I added a 4 laser mega weapon, Im crazy enough.
I was able to make the station move but only by removing the rotors that make the sections spin unfortunately. the station station still spins though if you turn on the reactor cores.
I have 3 <.<
jmferretmaster  [author] 6 Jan, 2020 @ 4:14pm
There was a mod with giant rotors that you could walk through the center of, but I think it way out of date. As far as rigging the station for movement.... well I did say you would have to be crazy... so... if the shoe fits... lol
Dragonfang-9 6 Jan, 2020 @ 3:40pm
I think Ive overdone it....
Dragonfang-9 6 Jan, 2020 @ 12:20pm
I feel like some one should make giant rotors that can make a movable grid more stable.
some kind of 3 by 3 by 3 with the ability to put one block in the center.
but Im trying to figure out a way to turn these rings and be able to move the station and jump.
jmferretmaster  [author] 6 Jan, 2020 @ 11:57am
Yeah, I kinda saw that coming lol
Dragonfang-9 6 Jan, 2020 @ 7:33am
so I started putting this station and the last station together.
its breaking my computer its so big <.<
JoozBrorg 5 Jan, 2020 @ 11:54pm
@jmferretmaster ty for the tips, ill do some more testing tonight, already spend few hours on it and ill let u know if i manage to get it to work
jmferretmaster  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 10:43pm
Thank You Lt.Starbound ! im glad you like it
Rhea.licious 5 Jan, 2020 @ 10:18pm
Heh, my friend and I made a spinning station once, but it was nowhere near as big or cool or as well designed as this.
jmferretmaster  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 8:33pm
i almost wanna try and assembl this in survival now but with mods so i can upgrade as i go lol
jmferretmaster  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 8:32pm
also. delete the rotor head from the rotor, and add a head to the side you are connecting to the rotor. then get them close together and hit attach on the rotor in question. no merge blocks needed
