Australia about the size map I want you to make it
gitchegumme 2 Aug, 2022 @ 5:35pm
Very nice map, but don't use it with climate Mod. It will crash.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 19 Jan, 2020 @ 5:45am
From main menu -> Free Game -> Play map in the top right corner of the window. Then select the grand canyon map. And yes, I agree, the user interface needs to be more clear, it is as if they deliberately tried to hide buttons and functions used by many players.

I can't play this map because I can't find where to load it on the game.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 16 Jan, 2020 @ 3:43am
Thats awesome, just keep at it and you will get the snowball rolling :steamhappy:
Ill post new pictures of my build once I can get some nice things up and running, I rebuilt a bit and it cost me billions, almost bankrupt :p
MrKrabs 15 Jan, 2020 @ 11:17am
I have it solved.
I`m not sure what caused the problem.
I did as follows:
Renewed the industry.
Dropped more ships to on the line.
Fast forwarded till 1925 to have better vehicles to feed the ships.

Uff, that was tricky.

I think it is waiting for already delivered goods to reach its destination before sending more.
Unless I am wrong industries have a limited amount of products they can have en route, thus you need to speed up the delivery for them to send out more. Also make sure the destination can accept more, the city or industry will need to be able to accept the goods for the factory to produce them. Another issue I had once on complex routes was that one transfer had low capacity, then the factories would limit their output according to the part of my transport chain with the least output.

I got some trouble here with one Refinery. It refuse to produce oil. Getting crude oil, consume it, all fine. I have connected it further on to one Fuel refinery with no success.

Any ideas?

Thats really cool, nice to see it come to life :steamhappy:
MrKrabs 12 Jan, 2020 @ 2:27am
Found it. Thanks a lot.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 11 Jan, 2020 @ 2:30pm
There is a small + sign to the right just above the mod list. Press it to select mods. I have noticed its sometimes hidden by text. Horrible UI design but once you know where it is you can find it.
Tooltip for it is advanced options.
MrKrabs 11 Jan, 2020 @ 1:07pm
When I want to load the map it always appears without mods. Dunno how to make it possible.
It starts , no probs, just without mods.
Any thoughts what I´m doing wrong?
Doxs Roxs  [author] 11 Jan, 2020 @ 5:19am
Of course, pile on the mods, no problem there and the map mod is only cosmetic for textures. Should not be affected by mods changing gameplay etc.
MrKrabs 11 Jan, 2020 @ 4:54am
That takes me right to my next question. Is it possible to have mods active in your map? i just realized that all my mods, approx. 60 in number, are not active.
Especially the "Landscape no cost" mod is what I miss.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 11 Jan, 2020 @ 4:21am
Cool, good luck! Im in the 1890s with 60 trains, spent several years in the 1860s to build the helix seen in the last screenshot, then 4-5 years of spending to get the canyon mainline done for coal and ore. After that every single cent has been spent on new trains, each one increasing my income. While the snowball has started rolling, the expensive terrain has made it so much harder to get going, I really enjoy it! Hope you guys like it too, its quite possible to start passenger only or cargo only on 1850 hard setting without mods :steamhappy:
MrKrabs 11 Jan, 2020 @ 1:30am
Thanks mate.

I have to start the round fresh anyway because I fxcked something up with my steam settings. Had to reinstall. Downloading now. Keeping U posted.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 11 Jan, 2020 @ 1:26am
You can also solve it manually if you are playing a saved game on old version, it will just cost you money.
Bridge in Palisades Creek will have to be partially destroyed (west side) ground smoothed and that part of the bridge rebuilt.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 11 Jan, 2020 @ 1:25am
Fixed the bridge now :)
MrKrabs 10 Jan, 2020 @ 1:42pm
That´s good to know. Waiting 4 it. Thanks Bud.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 10 Jan, 2020 @ 5:25am
Cool, Palisades Creek is a good city for passengers, its so stretched out you get good money down that single road :)
I know that bridge is broken and get collissions when trying to upgrade it with tram tracks, Im working on getting that sorted in the next update.

Started again. Date is paused. Two lines in plus. Will see if I come along with it. Will check the other towns later.

Big fun. :steamhappy:
Doxs Roxs  [author] 9 Jan, 2020 @ 2:14pm
Thanks! :steamhappy: Please check the screenshots and my description below for some easier starting locations. I can assure you the terrain up top is not much better, it might look smooth but once you try to build rail through it its deceptively hilly :p
Brulzie, I made it as large as I could, maybe its a good thing I could not make it even larger :steamhappy:
MrKrabs 9 Jan, 2020 @ 12:57pm
Awesome map.
Very challenging.
I suggest to put autosafe on 30 min. It lags a bit during autosafe.
For the rest, great job.
I tried passenger transport through the river. Didn´t work yet. Need some fine tuning. But ones again. Great job. Ones I have the first step done I´ll post some screenshots.
Brulzie 9 Jan, 2020 @ 12:21pm
Massive map very resource hungry for mid range machines, and that's before I start to play it.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 9 Jan, 2020 @ 7:03am
Im also aware of the Palisades Creek bridge issues, Ill fix that in the next version.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 9 Jan, 2020 @ 7:02am
I have added a few screenshots on the end if there are some of you that are having issues getting your economy going. I think the northern farm is probably the easiest early moneymaker, almost too easy, I might reconsider its placement :p
Doxs Roxs  [author] 9 Jan, 2020 @ 6:51am
Cool MrKrabs, good to hear you can load it. Same for me, it takes a while to load.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 9 Jan, 2020 @ 6:51am
I also ran a test today where I tried different strategies to get started on the map to ensure it is playable. Be careful and start with road vehicles, avoid trains if you start on 1850 and hard. I built trams in almost all the cities, single street from residential to industry/commercial and back within the city. Using the rest of the money I managed to set up the northernmost farm and the southernmost oil well. Oil was transported via sea. Using this method almost all lines are making money within about 1 year and I got money to spend within 1½ year, starting to make adjustments and repaying the loan. Its not huge, but its a start. I think there are several other viable options even on hard difficulty and with the changes I made to the map in the latest version I think its a good challenge but not too easy. Please let me know what you guys think.
MrKrabs 9 Jan, 2020 @ 6:40am
Running fine here. Need some time to load though. But still running. More that 60 mods active.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 9 Jan, 2020 @ 6:39am
For those of you with crashes, please check your available ram, I have noticed a spike in ram usage when loading and if I have lots of other programs running it can crash. I think it took around 10 gigabytes to load the map, then it reduced its memory footprint to around 7-8 gigabytes. This is solely related to map size. I have tried to be careful with decorations and other things on the map just for this reason. But keep in mind that this map is huge and has 8-10 times the height of a normal map.
castrol 9 Jan, 2020 @ 6:02am
This map still ctd on loading, with or without the script. There are no other mods loading.
MrKrabs 9 Jan, 2020 @ 5:51am
Hi there. I`m gonna give it a try. Couldn´t play right today. But I like those challenges.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 9 Jan, 2020 @ 4:04am
Did 2 unmodded test runs for 1850 hard start focusing on industry. When I tried the closest farm to factory route it took 9 years for the first food to reach the factory on default game date speed. This was with a finished setup before I unpaused the game.
As a result of these tests I realise I decided to move two industries to enable an easier start.
One oil well was moved south and a farm was moved north. These should provide a few more alternatives to those of you who prefer to start with industries.
That said, this map was never meant to be easy :steamhappy:
Doxs Roxs  [author] 8 Jan, 2020 @ 11:36pm
Cool, did you get the mod working now? If not I think the map might look pretty bad :p
Im still not happy with the textures, if I have the time and energy I might put more effort into fine tuning the textures to look more like the real world Grand Canyon.
Im also curious, what did you think of the start, was it hard to get started? Im considering adding a slightly higher starting loan or moving an industry or two if people do not want to start with passengers.
Silent Knight 8 Jan, 2020 @ 10:58pm
Ah ok Thanks. Been playing the map a good while now. Well done, I very much enjoy building on this one.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 8 Jan, 2020 @ 11:50am
The required mod is only required for the map not to look extremely bad, it should still start without it. The only effect is that most of the terrain over 220 meters will be rock texture. I can start the map just fine without any mod.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 8 Jan, 2020 @ 11:42am
I have uploaded a new version now that I hope will fix that. It should now correctly reference the steam mod and not the local staging area when trying to start the map.
Silent Knight 8 Jan, 2020 @ 9:49am
Map works for me if I disable the required mod. With that enabled, the start does not highlight. What is the mod needed, Have you a link?
Doxs Roxs  [author] 8 Jan, 2020 @ 6:09am
Made another update, please let me know if it automatically has the required mod active when you attempt to start the map.
Doxs Roxs  [author] 8 Jan, 2020 @ 5:50am
I must have made a spelling mistake in the mod.lua file when adding some text :steamfacepalm:
Please try again now. I just tried it myself and it works for me.
castrol 8 Jan, 2020 @ 4:12am
The map will not start with the script active
Doxs Roxs  [author] 8 Jan, 2020 @ 12:44am
If anyone knows how to fix the earnings graph, or find any other issues, please let me know.
