Personally, I was never a fan of cards that let you win before hitting Uno—it skips the whole point of the game. That’s why the Infinity Gauntlet brings you down to one card instead of just winning, and why discard cards don’t let you drop your final card.
That said, “Play Again” technically does let you win early, but it’s the only one like that, so it feels like a unique exception rather than something cheap.
So yeah—my take is no, you can’t use a gift card to ditch your last card. But that’s just how I see it. If you and your group are fine with it, make it a house rule.
Appreciate that people still enjoy this weird little game I made while bored during lockdown :)
Here is a link to the separated one, enjoy. its also at the bottom of the workshop page now for those that want it.
Like, if the game started with a bunch of separate decks on the table that you could choose to combine in whatever way you wanted, then I feel like it would be a lot more accessible and player friendly. Almost like separate game modes.
Also, now that the deck no longer contains 666 cards this might encourage me to add more (since now I don't have to worry about spoiling the "cursed number") to round it up to a nicer number (maybe 1000 is the goal).
I also added 4 new cards which dont do anything too special, I added them mainly for people to make their own rules with them, but by default they cannot be placed on wildcards but wildcards cannot be placed on them. Hope you enjoy this little content update.
I've also changed proportions of the cards in the deck, this means there are more cards in total now, and unfortunately no longer 666 cards in a deck. Its a sacrifice I had to make.
The In-game rules journal now says a very similar thing as this steam page, but I hope that isn't too big of a problem since every card now has a custom description when you hover over it.
We used this rule (by accident at first) but it ended up leading to a lot of really hype cold reads.
Also, I feel like there really needs to be another way to get rid of poison. The cards that get rid of it are so infrequent, it feels like the poison would just keep getting passed around until someone got a card that could get rid of it, which would make the game even longer than it already is. Other than that, all of the mechanics were really interesting, and we had a great time!
