@PuffinMuffin - Would be extremely helpful if you could set logging to be config toggleable to prevent some of the excessive log spam. Thank you.

Having tried this mod, what i did do was go through all config character stats and remove all defence bonuses to 0. That way any defence only comes from this mod, and works a treat, feel it is only right advent has better armour than xcom. Aliens def=8, xcom def=2, aliens dodge=12, xcom=4. are my present settings. One idea to make late game harder would be to increase the alien stats by +1 at the start on every month, making a longer campaign harder the longer it goes on.

I've noticed the mod doesn't work with negative values.
I've been playing around with side-graded weapons and I was wondering if there is a way to use the mod to have a penalty to defence while they have the armour, obviously lost when they are shredded.
This way something like a sectodpod with a lot of modded armour is easy to hit while its weighed down. This will make sure theres a use for my side-grade weapons that focus on shredding vs damage.
TLDR - cant use negative values in the config, is there any way to do this?

So by giving the aliens more defence and dodge, they can have better armour than xcom - i like the idea.Will give this a try.

@Pilou365
Ah no, to program that would require me to change how shred is applied for all skills and abilities, which will definitely break some other mod. You can think of it as you have to hit the right spot for the armor shred effect to work!
But you gave me an idea. I'll release a version where armor gives dodge instead of defense. So each point of armor increase graze chance instead of misses outright, a less painful alternative than missing. Thanks for the inspiration!

I have a question/suggestion : Do shredding abilities actually shred when it "hits the plate"(so when it misses due to armour defense)? I feel like that would make sense.

yeah you are right i just realized it just giving more defense only XD

@Twitch_허니크림
Oh because certain mods already have that as a ability for their characters. Also if everyone starts out with more defense at full HP, how does that actually give you more tactical options in the game? It simply means everyone is misses more no matter what they do right?
Why not just increase the defense that low and high cover gives? At least that makes you need to consider positioning better. =D

Just simple idea, Like a Red fog second wave, how about giving more defense when full health, and keep degrade when the hp fall down? :steamhappy:

Agree Armour upgrades should give shielding instead of HP. Vests are the HP givers instead.

Given that fall damage is maybe 2 at most, think lorewise its fine that falling hurts your fleshbags despite their tough armour. Right now I've only been modding for 2 weeks, so sadly my coding kungfu isn't up to par. Never coded in my life before this.
yes_commander 16 Feb, 2020 @ 3:24pm
@JouL Would you be willing to take a stab at changing fall damage to come out of shielding points (if any are present) before coming out of health? It's just a base-game thing that has been bugging me since I set my game up to have all armor add shielding points rather than contributing to the main health pool. I tried experimenting with the idea a while back but I'm not familiar with the syntax of making mod that actually alters game mechanics (ini file copy & pasting is more my speed), and didn't have the time to study up on it.

@Flashstriker
I've also modded enemy weapon stats in my Weapon Customisation Mod. The Armour Perk goes both ways, now Armour is a Valuable Commodity for your item slot space.
Will post my custom Armour Mod values at a later date.
Flashstriker 15 Feb, 2020 @ 10:21am
This would be good, were it not for the amount of modded enemies I use. Might see about editing things on my end if I use it

@lordabizi
Yes it will stack. Bring lots of Armour Shred or Spec Piercing. Refer to my Weapon Customisation Mod for the solution to your pain.

Would this defense stuck on top of existing innate defense? (I'm slightly scared at the prospect of fighting a Gatekeeper with this mod active)

@Crunk Bunny
I have no idea. Just downloaded modbuddy 2 weeks ago and this my first foray into the insanity of coding.

@Iridar
Thanks man!

@Derbk
If you know how to add ammo and other armour piercing attributes into this feel free to take over! Glad a professional is interested in this.

Bro, how the hell you pumping good mods so fast :csgoa::ops::csgob:
DerBK 15 Feb, 2020 @ 1:39am
I like this idea a lot. I have no idea how balanced it is, but this is a concept well worth exploring imo.
