modding is just about modifying the tables used by the game
you should start by opening them (located in the data folder of the game) with rpfm utility (you can find it easily on google)
it would be too complicate to explain how all these tables interact with eachother, but their names are quite explicit
yes i think i had to accept a steam agreement so my update could be online
now it should be ok
can you explain how you did it? is it possible to do in atilla?
i wanted to modify a 1212 mod in a similar way, but i know next to nothing about programming or modding
Sadly i can't remove the small lod system
It is something build in the model itself and i would have to modify the model itself to be able to modify this kind of lod
Is there a similar column for the distance of the LODs ?
.. that would make a great middle way for lower systems ( like mine ;-) )
keep it up !
but just to remind, this is a visual mod, it's goal is to improve the visuals of the game and not improve performances
fps are quite low, but it's pretty stable and playable
i think maybe your system has some issues (and i am pretty sure it's a power issue) @Aeyn
these results are quite low for a rtx 3080 ti ;)
you should check if your psu is delivering enough power for your gpu and if you don't have anything going wrong with your system
Mod with animation lod remover : 53 avg, 34 low
Mod without animation lod remover : 65 avg, 55 low
So then it's quite obvious the extra animations displayed on the screen are impacting a lot the performances
I will consider creating a separate mod for animation lod remover or lowering a bit the animation lod distance
i will make some framerate tests on my side to compare the performance loss with animation lod removed
and if it is impacting performance a lot i will do 2 different mods
Using the skaven graphics benchmark to provide some comparison numbers, on my 1440p monitor with large unit size.
No Mod + graphics ultra: 63 avg, 47 low
No Mod + graphics high: 72 avg, 56 low
With Mod + graphics ultra: 44 avg, 30 low
With Mod + graphics high: 48 avg, 37 low
The mod is noticeably impacting my framerates, and the game doesn’t feel as fluid and stutters from time to time. I didn’t notice this earlier because I only played a few mid-size skirmishes and not vs the Skaven. Since I didn't benchmark with the previous version of this mod I can't provide any before and after numbers to isolate the animation changes specifically.
Small fps hit but not really noticable on my GTX 3080Ti.
When I first installed this mod I was unsure if it was working because all the tails in my Lizardmen army further away were moving in sync. Now its a lot more dynamic and immersive :)
and as i said before, framerate is the last thing you care about in a strategy game
Windows is more suitable for this, and if you check windows 11 you will be happy to see that it has a very close to KDE desktop
Big announcement here :
I just updated the mod with an increase distance for animation lod
Can you just tell me if you face performance issues with this update ?
I will do it when it will be in final version
Thanks
please check the link in the description above
it's done ! :)
i think what you see is the lod on animations not on models, and sadly i didn't find a way to remove animations lod yet
yes i would love to remove every lod from the game, but sadly it seems to be not possible, at least for me ... :(
I have checked it with this mod and with the compatibility with Dryrain Hooveric Reskin
thanks for your reply
