Deathbringer6959 19 Oct, 2023 @ 6:09pm
i hope you dont mind if i use this on a survival series im doing, i cant for the life of me design small grids worth a crap, the connectore wont be an issue with our rover base but ill keep the refueiling in mind
RockTheMoose 23 Dec, 2021 @ 9:20pm
This is an absolute work of art. Thank you for building and uploading this beast.

I can make it fly using the boost!
Spaztron 29 Nov, 2020 @ 10:33pm
This is the most kick ass rover I have ever used in this game. Thank you for building it

@Taidyr I totally agree with you!
The vehicle is very well made and has a TON of possibilities.
Parachutes, hydrogen thrusters and gyros help a lot!

Personally, I just feel that the settings are giving me a un-realistic feeling when turning.
That's my own personal preference, I like rovers that steer with their turning wheels and only use gyros for better stability or boost.

I've played enough with the suspensions parameters to set those up to my liking without DAS. However, you have to adjust those parameters when the ground is changing (when driving on ice vs stone - when your cargo is full vs empty - when going up a very steep hill vs flat terrain).

So althought I agree with you, this vehicle is very user friendly, especially for new players.
It is welded and go on all situations (survival, creativity, x10 or x2 inventory)!
At the end of the day, personally, if players don't want to touch parameters and have a more realistic feeling I still advise the DAS script :)
Taidyr  [author] 19 Aug, 2020 @ 1:32am
Additionally, the Gyros not only assist in steering, but enable the driver to move the entire front-section of the vehicle to a certain degree. Not only does this allow you to perform cool tricks like wheelies and skids. It also makes it way easier to free the vehicle when getting stuck in a trench or maintain control if the wheels loose contact to the ground. Gyro-Steering is not just a helpful assist, but a crucial part of this rovers concept. :)

I encourge everybody who wants the LARV to perform more dynamic, to play around with the wheel-settings. I've set it up to be as user-friendly as possible, but if you have a good level of experience with ground vehicles, there's a lot you can do to push the cars limits before turning to scripts.
However, of course scripts are fine too. I've played around with DAS a lot and it is definitely an awesome tool. But personally I would not use it on this vehicle.
Taidyr  [author] 19 Aug, 2020 @ 1:30am
@Alias: Thanks for the feedback! The weak steering-angle was actually set up this way on purpose. On mulitiple occasions during testing, the vehicle flipped over or dig into the ground and crashed when turning at high speed. This was mostly due to the high center of gravity. The LARV is an off-roader after all. Sure, a trained driver can expect this behavior and operate the car with reasonable caution. But I also wanted Rookie-Players be able to have fun with it. So I've reduced the friction on the front wheels. This made the car more forgiving in corners, but also added a significant amount of understeer. However, mouse-steering with the gyro counters this quite well and allows for sharper angles and more precise movement without crashing at higher speed.
Severe D Pression 17 Aug, 2020 @ 7:29am
I used this a lot on survival and found it very good. Only negative point was the steering feeling that was "light" and the need to steer via gyros.
I've added the DAS script recently and it makes the vehicule so good you can't flip unless you want so. And you can turn without the need to control gyros !

@Taidyr Thanks a lot :).

@JW GROM: The guns are the Helios C-30 Flash -Attachments by Major Jon (see Credits-Section). you can subscribe to them from his workshop-page and put them on the Vehicle. You'll have to grind down the downside gatling gun to not shoot your tires, though.
Ostre Wasy 17 Jul, 2020 @ 9:52pm
@Taidyr could you upload the version with the side mounted guns on to the workshop?
Taidyr  [author] 3 Jul, 2020 @ 12:41am
Thank you @Pants4Breakfast. Hope the vehicle served you well!
Pants4Breakfast 30 Jun, 2020 @ 9:00pm
You were my first subscribed content, and have set the bar high on what to expect. Thanks for making content that fits the description and is of high quality. :selike:

@Not a Heretic: Unfortunately it's quite common for wheels to just randomly break in suvival. The only workaround I know is to have active welders pointing at them - which is not an option on this rather small build. The only other option is to reduce your speed, but that's not a guarantee either.

I got used to checking the wheels everytime before I'm going on a trip and use the handwelder on them/let the vehicle roll over a repair-platfrom, even if they're at full health. A friend mentioned that damage on the tires can spawn scrap metal inside the wheels, causing even more damage and eventually will let them explode. Wasn't able to verify this yet, but welding the tires regulary did help to prolong their live. Doesn't always work but it is noticable.

I was driving this baby from my landing point near a station to my little hidden base about 6km away. I had done so multiple times before. When I came down a hill I had traveled many times earlier, the back wheels just exploded. I have a feeling its less random, and maybe the wheels became worn down? Who knows, could be wrong, doesn't matter, great vehicle.

Why are there so many subscribers? such as thousands of drawings
COMMANDBrawler 11 Jun, 2020 @ 4:43am
your creations are awesome!!
Piggy 10 Jun, 2020 @ 2:52pm
Hello, I have built this in survival and for some reason there is no power being produced from the hydrogen engine
Mackinaw 5 Jun, 2020 @ 4:09am
@Taidyr : Thank you! I'll be sure to link the files.
Also, I need all the help I can get to refine my designs, and since yours are really amazing I'd be happy if I could get some advice from you if it's not a bother.
Taidyr  [author] 5 Jun, 2020 @ 3:35am
Thank you all for your feedback. Makes me happy to see ppl still enjoy the rover!

@Mackinaw: All my submissions on the workshop are free to use for screenshots, videos and other SE-related content without my explicit permission. A link to the original file is always appreciated, though.
Mackinaw 4 Jun, 2020 @ 10:04am
Love the looks! Not often do we see a simple yet effective little rover like this one.
By the way, I'm thinking of using some of your ships to take screenshots for my new design's workshop page (because frankly your ships are amazingly good-looking)! Would you be okay with that? (I'll give you full credit of course, but that's a given.)
In a Haze 4 Jun, 2020 @ 6:08am
Honestly, the real talent here was that photoshoot. Hot damn!
Papa Buffalo 28 May, 2020 @ 10:10pm
got it, thank you
Taidyr  [author] 27 May, 2020 @ 11:56pm
@Papa Buffalo: "Is the parking brake on?"

No pun intended. Try to press "1" or "P" to disengage the brakes.
Papa Buffalo 27 May, 2020 @ 9:20pm
still new to the game and my IQ must be negative 6, cuz i cant get it to move.... help?
Das Hexenmeister 25 May, 2020 @ 7:35pm
Took a bit for the engines to fill up before the tanks would fill but after that i was able to scale a 80 degree incline about 1km high going up rocky terrain and was able to use the parachutes to go back down to safety with no issue. Great build, took a little while to build but totally worth it. It has plenty of ground clearance to go over difficult terrain with ease
ThGaming 20 May, 2020 @ 8:05am
1/4 of my PCU to use this online, awesome!
Genesis_Viper 8 May, 2020 @ 2:41pm
I dock this into a roof of my underground garage of my base using pistons and it’s delivered with timers and docked the same way
Rocinante_63 4 May, 2020 @ 9:49am
The Valkyrja M&E G.MS-LARV-1. The perfect vehicle for a leisurely drive through local forests and to the highest summits, supplementary thrusters granting a sedate top speed of 100m/s. And it handles a dream!

(I also accidently discovered how equally good this vehicle is at tobogganing down a mountainside at terrifyingly high speeds. Once I stop shaking I'll tell you how fun it was.)

Looks: 11/10
Handling: 11/10
Durability: 11/10
Terror: 11/10

Jokes aside, this is an incredible little rover. Amazing work!
LYNX 1 May, 2020 @ 4:16am
Love the looks, kudos !
Jerjuan 14 Apr, 2020 @ 12:17pm
can we use piston arms that drop down from the celing inorder to fuel it
Sidi 6 Apr, 2020 @ 8:42am
@Taldyr gracias:
Muy buena explicación de los comandos
WhiteShadow 1 Apr, 2020 @ 3:43pm
@Taldyr thanks! seems I had an old mod that added small version hydrogen tanks. Which conflicted with the new actual tanks the devs added in the last patch.
so yeah, removed that and its all working fine now! yippee!
Taidyr  [author] 31 Mar, 2020 @ 12:04am
@WhiteShadow: Do you have any mods activated that might interfere with the blueprint? Tried to load it into a different world? Does the whole vehicle show when you load it into a projector? Checked integrity of the gamefiles?
WhiteShadow 30 Mar, 2020 @ 6:40pm
So I'm trying to spawn this thing in (great work btw, sexy looking rover) but it keeps spawning in with blocks missing. Like the turret, h2/o2 gen, and various other stuff on the back of the craft just aren't there.
Is this only on my end or the workshop having issues? Also, there a fix or am I just going to have to rebuild it based on the screenshots?
Taidyr  [author] 30 Mar, 2020 @ 2:09am
Wow, what a week...

Seeing an item go from nothing to five stars in about seven days is definitely a new high for me. Thanks to everyone who subscribed, voted and commented on this thing. I know I don't reply very often, but every single rating and any form of feedback is much appreciated and I hope you all have a lot of fun with the scout car.

More ground vehicles will follow very soon. But before that, I have another large grid ship to finish...
Unincognito 29 Mar, 2020 @ 10:09am
An Industrial Cargo Truck with this style would be cool... :D
Ghostdraconis 27 Mar, 2020 @ 1:31am
nice
Starprime 26 Mar, 2020 @ 3:25pm
ive never though someone could make a rover look sexy
OctoBooze 26 Mar, 2020 @ 1:55pm
I'm still in awe at the level of presentation here. Those screenshots are amazing, much like the build.
Daniel Lee Howell 26 Mar, 2020 @ 10:11am
That is one sexy rover, man.
McTec Ind. 25 Mar, 2020 @ 11:32am
This is one marvelous looking vehicle you got there... and those screenshots are pretty nifty as well. Also... I should remember your jump start battery idea... I've already deep discharged three of my tanks due to the lack of use. Simple but genius. Oh and upvoted of course! :)
TremorousCawkasaurus Rex 25 Mar, 2020 @ 10:12am
over 100 m/s
Jarcek 25 Mar, 2020 @ 2:10am
I don't get the not-conectable part... this is basic piston work. Nice car!
Tr1p 24 Mar, 2020 @ 11:04pm
Nice job keep it up and btw I managed to connect the vehicle via piston ;)

@Netherspark looks like clean armor or carbon fiber blast doors. Also, Taidyr this rover looks incredible!
