I guess in this case I have let my personal preferences rule over the historical facts. You are right, the (in my eyes dull) version of the red-white-red flag was used in most of the EU4 timeframe. So I reverted it back to the original :(
You might need to unsub and sub again to force steam to re-download the mod and update the file.

If you want to modify other flags, feel free to add me here on steam, so I can message you the overlay-file, if you want. Its really not that hard to do

Hey man, I love your mod. I was wondering if maybe you could change the Austrian flag back to the vanilla one but with the rugged overlay. This is since most of the flags in the mod are coat of arms anyway and the black and yellow flag wasn't used until the 18th century. I'd do it myself but the mod I used to use which had the same rugged overlay is in a .bin format and I can't seem to access the tga files of that mod. I'd really appreciate it if you can upload a separate mod or change the one in this one.

@jragir As the Napoleonic Age is only a very very late part of the game, I would like to stick to the historical flags of the most prominent eras.
However: I can see myself using the white Bourbon French Flag instead of the current blue one..?

Any chance you'd consider making a mod which includes a Napoleonic flag for France?
