would love to see the newer ones being made a unstaffed update

What...? Workers are required...? You should... just upgrade it as soon as possible.
Besides, your wind turbine (1995) is unique, so, I think, you have the reason to upgrade it anyway.

so lovely to have a variety of buildings

Будет ли обновление мода? Хочется что бы лопасти крутились
Nyxyx  [author] 26 Apr, 2021 @ 10:33pm
@Crackhood
No, it seems 3Division liked this mod enough they made it vanilla. The in game turbines are practically identical. There is no reason for me to upgrade these.
Crackhood 26 Apr, 2021 @ 9:59am
Will u update this for the new windmill update?

Dutch people's best mod.
Starfoth The Burgundy Silk Rug 29 Jul, 2020 @ 4:49am
TLDR; This mod has a pretty good niche and you made a good design choice
Starfoth The Burgundy Silk Rug 29 Jul, 2020 @ 4:49am
I think them having a staffing thing is good but not for the reason you stated. Honestly having the output be the average would be better because inconsistent power outputs are p bad in this game because it's impossible to make a proper grid with only HV wires and no EHV wires.

However both this and the solar plant mod I think serve a better purpose being placed close to work stations, commerce, and housing to allieviate pressure on the local power plants so they consume less. The way I see it working is I place a wind farm within' walking distance of some houses or the train terminal of a industrial center and the buildings will consume power there BEFORE they consume power from the substation.

Because of this priority I think this mod can be used to fill the role of wind and solar power more closely; as a supplement to other sources of power such as nuclear, fossil fuels, or hydroelectric(which isn't in the game but the other two are)

Can you add $HEATING_DISABLED to the config?
Nyxyx  [author] 18 Jul, 2020 @ 2:51am
The difficulty of keeping them staffed was deliberate; the biggest drawback to wind power is that the wind does not always blow...

They were done as individuals because otherwise they would require you to level out a massive field to place them. The drawback is that they all have to be wired individually too.
Starfoth The Burgundy Silk Rug 18 Jul, 2020 @ 2:12am
But I don't mean to say that the mod isn't good
It's incredible
It's just impossible to maintain viability unless the mills are flush against the houses
Starfoth The Burgundy Silk Rug 18 Jul, 2020 @ 2:07am
I think it would be best if the building itself was a large field of turbines that took a staff of 40-80 workers. You could make the groundwork lenient so it is easy to place as a farm but honestly it is extremely hard to keep these things staffed.
MystDie 16 Apr, 2020 @ 5:17am
Thank you so much!
perlenbacher hefeweizen bier 15 Apr, 2020 @ 2:20pm
Windmills aren't supposed to produce as much as a coal/nuclear power plant, that's why you'd have hundreds on a field, so you can't really balance them. Also it would be nice to know if a water dam could be achieved? It would really benefit exploiting maps with lots of rivers and such.
Nyxyx  [author] 15 Apr, 2020 @ 11:39am
Honestly, this whole mod has been really hard to balance, because people want things that are competitive with fossil fuels, and wind power in the 20th century just... wasn't. I've said it before but turbines of this scale should be making 2MWh (for 2 employees) AT MOST. But the game makes it difficult to wire up a realistically sized farm, so I fudged the numbers.

Also the little diesel generators are absurdly overpowered. Realistically those things should put out more like 0.1 to 0.6 MWh (if staffed by 5 people). I can't be held responsible for other mods being unbalanced.

Well, I guess this is all lessons to learn for the next time.
I am deeply sorry I deleted your existing windfarms. In future any new turbines will be released seperately, and this one will not see any more updates unless absolutely necessary (like for animations).

Again, sorry for the mess. I'm still learning how to do this.
Nyxyx  [author] 15 Apr, 2020 @ 11:39am
I was worried about this. So I had been gradually adjusting power and cost upwards because of the comments I had been receiving, but I eventually decided that instead of having a dinky little turbine pumping out massive amounts of power that I would instead create a new more modern turbine with a higher output. I also made an offshore one with the 40MWh production to fill that gap, but I couldn't get it to work with the way the game functions currently.

Tomorrow when I have time I will make a third version that is bigger than the medium one that puts out 40MWh, and I will release an optional mod that has the small turbine producing 40MWh.
ichhabeeinengeschenkgutschein 15 Apr, 2020 @ 10:59am
All windmills disappear each launching the game. :steamsad:
aantono 15 Apr, 2020 @ 10:55am
P.S. It also killed the existing buildings with power reduced to 14MWh, which totally ruins the existing setups where power was planned and expected to produce 40MWh instead of 14MWh. :(((
aantono 15 Apr, 2020 @ 10:51am
Oh NO!!! Can we please bring back the previous version with 40MWh of power? Those who want to use the "reduced" production, can use it, but IMHO it does not stack up well with gas generators (which produce more power and consume less resources to build and operate)
For example, a Single Shed Generator produces 16MWh but takes half the amount of steel to construct! The wind turbine with 28MWh needs a whopping 27t of steel, so costs too much for the amount of electricity produced.

I get the desire of some people to have an option with lower production, but for the rest of us, can we PLEASE bring back the original version with 40MWh?

вот теперь спасибо что сделал нормально ! лаик поставлю!
DACE 15 Apr, 2020 @ 9:40am
now it works fine, thanks man ;)
PaboTHuK_MoPga 15 Apr, 2020 @ 9:18am
автор у меня игровая мышь новая это у тебя проблемы с моделью т.к другой твой объект присоединяется
RP-BOOST 15 Apr, 2020 @ 8:31am
My mouse is only 15 days since I bought it, I don't believe it is the problem, but thanks, I hope it gets better, I love the mod.
Nyxyx  [author] 15 Apr, 2020 @ 8:26am
Neither me nor any of the other modders I talk to are having any issues with the footpath connection. Apparently it can be caused by having a dodgy mouse. I will try and make it better for you guys anyway.

Ни у меня, ни у других моддеров, с которыми я общаюсь, нет проблем с подключением к пешеходной дорожке. Видимо это может быть вызвано плохой компьютерной мышью. В любом случае, я постараюсь сделать это для вас лучше.
Bobik 15 Apr, 2020 @ 8:25am
Исчезли все винты в сохраненной игре!!!!!!
RP-BOOST 15 Apr, 2020 @ 8:23am
Is there a problem with the new update?
Nyxyx  [author] 15 Apr, 2020 @ 8:09am
it might work now; I'm currently trying to find someone to help me test what's going on. It will be fixed before tomorrow.
DACE 15 Apr, 2020 @ 8:02am
Sorry, but it don´t wont to work, not in any direction, even when i build it with footpath blueprint.
Pleas help ;)
PaboTHuK_MoPga 15 Apr, 2020 @ 7:54am
автор как ужасно ты делаешь модели, у тебя 1 винт который вырабатыват 28кВт не соединяется дорожка (пешеходная)!!!!!!!
Nyxyx  [author] 15 Apr, 2020 @ 4:50am
The footpaths work fine (as seen in the screenshots), you just can't build it underneath the blades due to the bounding box.
DACE 15 Apr, 2020 @ 4:27am
not possible to connect the footpath to the medium one´s
mario 3 Apr, 2020 @ 10:01am
A nice idea. When i use electricity and fuel in my games ;), i will build a forest of them.

love this mod :-D Here's a 'small' setup that can produce 2.4MW (correction from earlier, a single one produces 0.2MW ) ... https://ibb.co/Pg7KZ2p .. i use another mod that allows 4 connections .. 3 for the turbine, 1 for the main transformer. I suppose you could chain those for much bigger wind farms, but keep in mind there is a maximum connection limit power travels (think its 19 or so? forgot)
Erazor 31 Mar, 2020 @ 12:20pm
you can do that with other powerplants, so i wouldn't see why not - has nothing to do with the mod.
NKVD 31 Mar, 2020 @ 10:43am
I have the same question as Phacias: Can the transformer be used to combine 6 turbines and transmit power through high voltage lines?

Can the transformer be used to combine 6 turbines and transmit power through high voltage lines?
MrKrabs 31 Mar, 2020 @ 8:08am
I work on a wind farm off shore. I can assure you. Wind turbines require a lot of work.
Erazor 31 Mar, 2020 @ 7:11am
... just a thought.. maybe even experiment with 1 man workforce so they do actually turn off once in a while. Wind is never constant...
Erazor 31 Mar, 2020 @ 7:09am
In case anyone is wondering -> it produces 0.06 per tick and is really cheap to build (like 1200 in 1970's $$). I think its a great mod that i didn't even know i needed :-D. The small 2 man workforce actually plays well into balancing them, as when their staffing levels drop off, it simulates the weather.
