Stellaris: 2007 Edition

Elnor: This or the Standard DDS Texture tweak, not both. if you want to increase fps in genral, the SPM will do. If you need more FPS, get one of the DDS texture Tweak, if you want an fps boost on the galaxy, get the Galaxy tweak.

All of my mods will be updated before this month ends. While the performance mod works just fine, they wont cover newly added dlcs and such.

bat592: Oh, it's the DDS Texture Tweak version.

That is considered standard edition and this one is the Potato edition.
bat592 17 May, 2022 @ 8:23am
Please excuse me, I found no link to the "...Standard Edition."

Updated. Tested out twice, no longer getting that bug but the main menu background i got is the one from the latest dlc. (SO i can really confirm if its fully fix for the federation main menu and apoc)

If any other bug exist, pls tell me.
Red-Eyed_Gelynome  [author] 17 May, 2022 @ 3:39am
Fjölnsviðr: yeah. I've already taken note of that as ive use the same file on the standard dds for the background and system. So im sure that bug also exist on the standard version. I'll redo it within the day.
Fjölnsviðr 17 May, 2022 @ 12:13am
Bug report, the textures are broken into 3 things, the menu is completely white striped, neutron stars with different colors as if the video card had problems, the hyperline direction arrows to other systems also have the same problem. It only happens with this mod and it also happens to another friend.

I just want to say how much of a Help your Mod is to my Multiplayer games. My Friend is running a really old Laptop. He starts to bog the Game down around 2250ish and we on Fastest are only moving 3-4 seconds for a single day. With this Mod we can make it to about 2300 before that starts happening. You are a Hero.
LasagnaMan12 21 Apr, 2020 @ 2:51am
This was a huge help in me being able to keep playing this game, as, unfortunately, my previous GPU was acting up and I couldn't trust to use it for my daily life anymore. That being said, I had to get a cheap temporary replacement since my budget wasn't all that great, and with a GT 710, the game runs almost always perfectly at 60fps, with only a few minor hiccups. Before I got this mod, I was having trouble, and looking a galaxy's center created a ton of lag, which your set of mods removed entirely. So I have to give a huge thanks :)

He needs his 240 FPS, man.
5G MINDCONTROL PEPEGA 12 Apr, 2020 @ 2:21am
AngelWyrm your pc is clearly not a potato PC, the mod will only actually improve fps on potatos, since it really only works on pc with a potato GPU / no dedicated GPU card. The base config of your pc (the cheapest option) should be fine for 1080p Stellaris, GPU wise. Stellaris is a CPU-bound game in 90% of cases, and this mod is for the 10% where its not.

AngleWyrm: are you stupid or what? base on that link, you already have a good rig, have you tried the mod on an intel hd cpu/gpu combined? if no, then allow me to explain again what this mods do.

IT REDUCES THE LOAD OF THE GPU, REDUCED GPU LOAD MEANS LESS LOAD FOR THE CPU WHEN IT COMES TO GRAPHICS... Every frame that the GPU loads are PROCESSED and send to the CPU and thus shown on your screen. Reducing the amount of size that the GPU needed to process means free resources for the CPU, this can be used to other matters of the game like JOB CALCULATIONS which is CPU HEAVY or other matters that your pc needs to do like google chrome.

2). The defense this mod isn't for modded games is ironic.
LMAO. Are you serious about this one? do you even know that stellaris is a CPU HEAVY game? NSC, AI Mods and other heavy mods adds ALOT of features that modifies CALCULATIONS, something that will be a heavy on the CPU and not the GPU. This from which the AI ship will build, how it will manage it fleets, etc. and at what point did I say that this mod is not for modded games? really, did you even try to make my last few comments sink in?

If not, here, I'll try to explain it like your 5 why I said using those mods affecs your gain of fps from this one:
You load this mod, your gpu loads less thus your cpu gains more free resources then it allocates it to the game, = you gain an fps raging from 1 or more. (Depends on your rig)
Red-Eyed_Gelynome  [author] 9 Apr, 2020 @ 2:26am

Then you decided to add a heavy mod like some advance AI mod or NSC or even some of those 1gb file mod, you load the game with it and this mod, your gpu loads less again thus your cpu gains again some free resources, BUT this time, another mod requires those cpupower so thus, those free resources has been allocated to that mod's features. RESULTING with minimal to no gain of FPS at all.

3). The claim it doesn't work for low end machines begs the question who is it for.
And at what point did I claim that it doesnt work for low end machine? I did not say that even on the comments. If you're referring to my last few comment, read again, Im stating that med to high end pc will pretty much wont gain from something like this that REDUCES GPU LOAD unless they put it on a space battle.
And saying this does not work basically means you're saying that this mod below also does not work: WHICH IS ALMOST BASICALLY THE SOURCE OF THE IDEA of this.

I played stellaris for 1600hrs+ on multiple rigs including a mobile cpu with an intel HD 4000. I know it works.
If you're planning on rooting out that mods like this does not work, feel free to do so, while you're at it, feel free to complain to mods like Fallout 4 Texture Optimization Project which also lowers the resolution of the dds while optimizing it's format, which also what this mod do but on an extreme level.
AngleWyrm 9 Apr, 2020 @ 1:45am
Author's stated claim in the description of this mod: "giving you more fps" was false for me. The accusation below claiming literally that it's my fault this mod didn't work as advertised does not further it's case.
1). Here's a review of my gaming rig from Tom's Hardware [www.tomsguide.com]
2). The defense this mod isn't for modded games is ironic.
3). The claim it doesn't work for low end machines begs the question who is it for.
BTW, to look at your fps, press ~ and type 3dstats in the console
Red-Eyed_Gelynome  [author] 8 Apr, 2020 @ 11:20pm
On the other hand, people with normal pc will may be able to notice only small gains from mods like this. due to the fact that thier pc already can procress 4.7gb of textures, then switching it to 160+mb textures will not matter.
Red-Eyed_Gelynome  [author] 8 Apr, 2020 @ 11:18pm
AngleWyrm: You're either using a heavy mod such as NSC or other mod that drastically add too much un-needed stuffs and/or you really have a crappy cpu.

Stellaris is a CPU heavy game, mods that edits the dds does not guarantee you'll get an absolute fps boost but it does decreases the the load for the GPU. Less load on the GPU means Less load for the CPU, This method has already been done to games like Skyrim/Fallout, specifically Fallout 4.

The decrease of GPU load means the decrease of CPU as well as RAM load. gpu process the graphics, then send it to the cpu to show on screen.

So your comment "Didn't change my fps" is not by this mods' fault but yours. Either you really have a super potato pc or has that mindset that mod something like this will give you 20+ fps boost.
qualified turtle ship 8 Apr, 2020 @ 6:38pm
AFAIK
Texture sizes make the biggest diff to graphics's card's built in memory requirements. So results will vary dramatically depending on your hardware.
