yea it lasts a VERY long time it takes so long for the finales to end like no mercy

I just played the final scenario on No Mercy. Moving quickly, it will take about 15 minutes. There will be 3 tanks before the chopper comes. It played fine for me. It is an intentionally long, drawn out ending aimed at amping up the "Where the hell is the chopper!!??" effect.

@joshydarroch
What mods are you running and at what resolution? I'd like to see if I can replicate the issue. Offhand, it sounds like one or more of your party may be running a trainer, possibly for ammo and it's locking the timer.

@Skrydon
I just played the last stage of Dead Center with and without this mod and both runs took approx. 5 min. I did the exact same path and took the exact same actions on both runs with the exception of smoking Ellis on the run without Extended Hordes on. I got 68 kills with Extended Hordes on and 63 kills with it off. I had to shoot a little more on the second run because Ellis got dead. Maybe due to the AI pathing they possibly jam up at the spawn points. Personally, I didn't see an issue on the last stage.

Hi, me and my mates love this mod yet have had an issue for years on several campaigns in which at the finale , the waves are endless no matter how we let it run and no rescue ever arrives , after the radio has been activated. Glitches out so that it's just a hopeless last stand and we have to exit the game. Doesn't seem to do this on every campaign from memory.

Any solutions for this existing?

Hi. Hope you'll read this.

It seems that there are less zombies spawning in the final chapter of Dead Center. Haven't tried other chapters yet."

I read every message about my mods. I'll have to look into the issue you're having but I won't be able to this week. My schedule is kind of full at this moment. Thanks for the respectful report.

Feel free. Send me a link when you're done.

I appreciate it, but no thanks. I'll never change this mod again. I haven't modded L4D2 in ages and don't intend to pick up modding for it again.
hawky_ 5 May, 2024 @ 11:50pm
LMAOOO ok no worries fam, I'll just compare it and if u wanr I can list it down here for you.

My mod stretches the spawns out over a slightly longer time in order to prevent a lot of stuttering. Still a crap-ton of zombies, they just aren't all spawning at the same time.
multoghost 10 Apr, 2024 @ 6:03pm
so does this basicly limits max zombie in a world and maybe slower spawn intreval but still has the same huge amount of zombies from super hordes

conflicts becuz I have a mod that allows bots to take the lead, strip that bs out of the mod and and just leave hordes and it would fix it"

And why would I do that, especially with the way you phrased ir?

It's dis·cern·i·ble, not discerning.
Grizzly  [author] 20 Dec, 2023 @ 7:07am
This mod was built back in 2011 or 2012 on a 1.5 GHz laptop that played networked to multiple machines and ran flawlessly. It hasn't been changed since then. If you're experiencing slowdowns it could be:
1) Recent changes to the core game itself. I can't help you with that. Unsub and find something else.
2) Your RAM timings haven't been set properly. Set them according to your motherboard and associated hardware configuration. Make sure to set an appropriate XMP profile if necessary and carefully check the QVL list for your motherboard.
3) Your motherboard, processor and video drivers may need to either be updated or possibly reverted to an earlier version specifically with Nvidia video cards and Ryzen processor combinations.
kamui 19 Dec, 2023 @ 10:28pm
the mod is bugged, the zombies are slower, the other person wasn't the only one at all I just finished witnessing it myself and I notice everything lmao. The zombies are 100% slower my guy, it's a bug, with no discerning confliction. You may of not of intended for this to be, but it is indeed a thing that is possible.
Grizzly  [author] 10 Dec, 2023 @ 12:37pm
If you haven't played this mod, don't ask for changes.

Can you make a version with no bonus effects. One that spreads the hordes out like in vanilla.
I've had to stop using horde mods, they make levels too easy to run through.
Also half the horde count to 200?"

There are no bonus effects unless you're talking about the increase in ammo and I'm not changing that.
I'm not dropping the amount of zombies either. Maybe stop running away and fight them.
Grizzly  [author] 2 Dec, 2023 @ 1:56pm
If they seem slower, it's your rig choking on the volume of zombies.
Grizzly  [author] 2 Dec, 2023 @ 1:55pm

are the zombies meant to be slower? or is that just me

That is just you. Speed hasn't been modified.

"So since this is a like a "Improved" mod for what Im seeing, what does it do? I dont see what it does in the description but from the comments Im assuming it makes the hordes slightly smaller than super hordes?"

If you would have actually read the comments, just a few lines down I posted this:

@GravyGirl
Super Hordes kind of slams the spawns out. My mod stretches the spawns out over a slightly longer time in order to prevent a lot of stuttering. It also prevents heavy groups of mobs and makes the horde a contiguous wave, rather than a clump. The end scene gets stretched a lot farther out to add to the tension and really augments the "where the **** is our evac?!" moment.

@Casper: It depends on whether you built your PC properly, set your RAM timings properly and keep your PC maintained. Just like any game out there, if you have issues, it probably has to do with your hardware and software setup. My mods are pretty solid and I normally run 40 or 50 of mine simultaneously. Great care was taken when constructing my mods to not include extraneous data that may conflict with other mods. The only way to tell for sure is to make sure your PC is squared away and try to run it. This mod is one I run permanently with many other mods on top of it. Unfortunately, most modders for L4D2 are not particularly detail oriented and include extra data because they are not sure what's needed and want to make sure their mod runs. The extra data is usually what conflicts with other mods and is where you run into overlap where two mods try to write the same data. Make sure you deconflict your mods by sorting out any red mods in your mods list before you run the game.
ODST Trooper 30 Jan, 2023 @ 2:11pm
Will this crash my game? it has happened with other modders mods and I'm just curious.
Luckman 17 Jan, 2023 @ 2:20pm
Bro this mods amazing I took one step out and it went from casual horde shooter to sounding like I was dying of laughter and or on crack XD
gravy 16 Oct, 2022 @ 1:08pm
ahh, gotcha. I can definitely see that as a change in gameplay, but there wasn't a description of the specifics which was why I asked. Thanks

shits scary man what if u try this mod with that one mutation i forgot its name but its just you no team
OwO 14 Jul, 2022 @ 6:47pm
this gives a new feeling to the line ''you have alerted the horde!''

Grizzly  [author] 19 Jan, 2022 @ 8:45am
@hawky_ It's fine if you tweak this mod but give credit to blackcat for his Super Horde mod that this one was built off of.
hawky_ 19 Jan, 2022 @ 2:15am
would u mind if I modify this mod to my likings? I'll give credits ofc.
Grizzly  [author] 8 Sep, 2021 @ 9:49am
Forgot to mention, AI teammate mods may affect this and Super Hordes as well.
Grizzly  [author] 8 Sep, 2021 @ 9:25am

Grizzly  [author] 8 Sep, 2021 @ 9:24am
and 5

If you are experiencing the issue while hosting MP but not single player, you need to set sv_consistency 0.
Grizzly  [author] 8 Sep, 2021 @ 9:21am
Part 4

Don't try to run more than one mobs mod. They absolutely will conflict.
Grizzly  [author] 8 Sep, 2021 @ 9:13am
Part 3

A lot of less experienced mod makers add more files than are needed because they want to make sure their mods work, even though the majority of their included files are not necessary. Like a weapon skinner including the default config file for the shotgun, when all he changed was a paint job. This is typically how mod crossover interference happens.
Grizzly  [author] 8 Sep, 2021 @ 9:13am
Part 2
Something else that would affect the mods appearing different today than they did back when the mods were created would be hardware. Older systems used to have to cache game instructions and "cue up" mobs to a higher degree, so on some systems, it would appear as a sudden in-rush of mobs, whereas, nowadays, procs are more efficient and there is less of a cue. I would say start troubleshooting by eliminating any other infected mods except one. Add other mods one at a time, play a game, add another mod, etc. to trace down the interference. Start by disabling all mods with the exception of Super Hordes or Extended Hordes and see if the performance of the mobs is different than with your regular set of mods enabled. If the performance is different, you have a conflict.
Grizzly  [author] 8 Sep, 2021 @ 9:12am
Ok, this is going to be kind of an long reply so I'll break it into parts.

Part 1
The amount of mods is not as relevant as what type of mods. If you are running multiple mods that alter different aspects of core files, you may not get a conflict warning in the Add-on menu, yet you may still get conflicts in the game. Skins for a weapon will not affect the performance factors of a weapon but if you d/l a mod that has both, you will overwrite any other mod for that weapon specific to one aspect or another. The mobs config file is a temperamental file as it affects almost every aspect of the infected by itself. If you d/l a mod that affects, say, the size of the mobs, it will over-write every other aspect of the mobs as well.

@Grizzly the original ( Super Horde ) mod used to work back in the day and damn my computer was lagging & the framerate droping below 30fps so so many zombies all over the place lol 2009-2016 something of those years but now it no longer function when they released The Last Stand last year anyways so

my issue is could it be that having way too many mods checked in the addson folder could prevent this Extended Hordes and BlackCats horde mods to happen just wondering ??? cause i don't see 300-500 big horde on my screen anymore

i do have tons and of mods checked in my addon list and they worked perfectly.

If you have wireless, tuning it can make a substantial improvement to speed and stability. I use the instructions found here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_ZfX1U2KSw

Doing this improved my connection from 72 Mbps to 480 Mbps on my 400 Mbps service.
