For anyone wondering, this mod and the 3.3 update for it were broken by the Overlord DLC. I'm going to miss it, but I have to update at some point. Thanks for making this mod!

Thank you for the mod, it's been making my campaign more fun but is there a way to trigger the option to change the type of vassalisation? Sometimes the prompt doesn't show up to chose which kind they become.

Hey mog can i recommend nerfing the +100 opinion modifier it is WAAY OP To all neutral AI. When combined with the AC perk, it takes no work to vassalize anyone.

All in all though i am LOVEING this mod, i always hated not being able to affect my vassals ethics when i conquered them.

Really glad to have 10K subscribers; I hope this mod has enriched your games a little. I want to remind everyone that the 3.0 update to Stellaris is about to launch and THIS MOD WILL LIKELY NOT WORK WITH IT. I will be releasing a new version targeting 3.0 as a separate workshop release as soon as I digest the changes and am able to test. This version will remain for Stellaris 2.6-2.8.

@Bald Wow, you're playing a much more intense game than me! But yeah, I've experienced that frustration where after an empire I'm eyeing loses a war they immediately become a vassal for another empire. I will consider adding some sort of timer (maybe tied to truces) that prevents them from being vassalized right after a war.

@Herr Maledictus There is an edict which increases the subject's government ethic attraction; nothing in this mod allows overlords to push their own ethics on subjects.

I really like your mod and my group and I have used it for how many games
Currently we have stopped using it because it creates a somewhat boring domino effect
(We play with Starnet, maximum difficulty, and more things)
Basically when the AI loses many troops in a war with another, their reaction is to voluntarily ask you if you can be their lord.
The problem is that this can create a domino effect of becoming powerful without having to do anything, just having a large fleet and waiting for them to come alone.
Could you increase the difficulty of vassalage a bit?

If you create a House using the Edict to change a subject’s subject type, the event to install one of your leaders as the new ruler of that House doesn’t fire.

@davidsen324 Make sure you have the Domination tradition that grants them purchased.

@Bald Double check that your new vassal isn't a Megacorp, as this mod doesn't do anything with them.

@Theamson I honestly don't know what the game will do if it you have any of my vassal/tributary types and load with the mod on. Between that and the changes to Domination, I would veer on the side of it not being safe.

if yes then you need to download special patch for it

Would this be safe to deactivate midgame?

When i subject a empire as vassal, somehow my Capital City loses all its districts. I do use many mods and also "Vassals Expanded and Reworked - 2.8" without the compability patch (somehow missed this one...) Dont ask me what vassals have to do with my capital districts but yea, thats what you get when you install to many mods :P

I´ll try the compability patch and maybe will find the mods causing the problems - but to safe my safegame i need to disable this mod i guess. (Still love your mod tho, and i will come back for it!)

Nice mod, I dowload yesterday and currently its one of my favorites hehe
One question: In my game, when I have a new vassal (not tributary, vassal) the game dont ask me about what stile of vassal... something its wrong or its maybe coz my ethics/others things dont unlock any stile?
And another more... any way to change the vassal/tributary type more late in game?

Is it possible to incorporate support for Traditional Thinking? It seems you only need to insert a check for other introduced there traditions, which will be harmless for all who does not own TT.

Version 3.2 has been released with new Russian localisations provided by Odden Bail. Additionally, I've added a couple day delay to the prompt to choose vassal/tributary type to deal with some edge cases I've encountered.

Stellar Guardian is not choosable during empire creation; it's really not balanced, more intended to help your vassal actually defend you.

If you can upload somewhere a save game from right before you subjugated an empire I can look into it. Otherwise, all I can say is that I have encountered rare situations where an empire's civics could not be changed (like empire's with the Mechanist origin).

FYI, Stellar Guardian not showing up as a choosable civic (Mostly Harmless is though) and when I make subjects into subject types that are supposed to replace their civics it doesn't work, only shifts their ethics. Only other mod is Gigastructures, and the subjects in question were released from my own territory(not conquered).

Thanks for the changes. Just a heads up you might want to rename your localisations to something like "Exalted_english.yml" instead of "I_english.yml" as this replaces the entire vanilla file. I am fairly certain it does this in the other supported languages as well. Happy New Year!

Hi folks, as no one seemed to do a patch on the AI vasallization acceptance, I did a quick and dirty Exalted Domination - A Level - Patch on that matter.

That should fix it to have vassals and tributaries only when you make them to, instead of getting every neighbor willingly subjugating to your empire without any effort.

@Mog Kupo, hope you are good with my patch. Feel free to place a link in your description.

I agree with those below, the AI becomes a vassal way to easy. I played a game where I absolutely decimated two AI empires in a war, I purged some of their planets and tombed them, they became pathetic in power compared to me. They had over -1000 like of my empire but as soon as the war was over they're both asking to be my vassals because I was so much stronger than them. Empires which are weaker should only submit if you have claims on them, as a way to protect their lands. Too many games I've played where everyone is just asking me to rule over them.

So if an AI willingly requests vassalization to you, or you demand the vassalization and the AI will accept immediately, it will only do the basic type and not do the popup for special types. Is this intended or a bug, or maybe something else?

Also great mod, we are planning on hosting a session using this mod and we are really excited!

Just a note that I back @Reyzel with his doubts about quite unbalanced vassal/tributary acceptance of AI empire. In all my single- and multiplayer games, it was way to easy to convice AI empires to accept. Nearly no need to trade for favors to talk them in. There are already mechanics in traditions, tech and ascension perk to raise that chance, so I also vote to reduce the basic value to get a more balanced experience. Probably have a second more overpowered version for those who like to play 'I am the Senate' game.

So I have an issue.
I just took 3 vassels (all around me and they liked me so) anyway the 1st I had to fight and once I won I made them a Beneficiary.
The 2nd was just request and then I got the pop up to again make them a Beneficiary.
The 3rd, while also just ask and they accept I am not getting a pop up to select vassal type and it is just becomes a default vassal. Only difference is the 3rd has 3 ethics the other 2 only had 2.
Have you seen this before?

@Steel Dragon The majority of new vassal types can expand, though this varies based on RP reasons. However, the AI needs a lot of help, so use those subject boosting edicts. As for Vassals Expanded and Reworked - 2.8, MrFuneGuy decided to base his resurrection of Ipslucasps' mod on my work. *shrug* Use 'em as you like!

But it has a dependency of your mod. They look to be very very similar so why have 2 mods doing roughly the same thing lol. If I can let my vassals grow with this mod alone well that's a win
