Assassin appeared first retaliation, squad wiped.
She appeared on the next mission, lost 3 people but I killed her.
She appeared AGAIN on the next mission and squad wiped again.
10/10 would love to never see the new world that awaits her again.

then open XComGameData.ini - you will see "AppearChances" on several lines and you'll notice each line has the same number in common - that is the % chance to appear, just change that to whatever you want.
(2) you can enable mid-campaign - however you may not see any changes right away, it may take a while before its effects are noticed.
but is it compatible with a better chosen?
I wondered if maybe the process of reloading the game was what fixed it in my trial run, so I tried that and it worked with your mod enabled.
Either it wasn't your mod at all, or it was some sort of conflict. Either way, the fix is as simple as saving the game and immidiatly reloading it.
Thank you for your time and effort!
With the Warlock, I had disabled the mod, and then moved my sniper foward. When the Warlock appeared, I figured it was becuase I had left my sniper in the field.
This time around it was the Assassin. I had my troops walk right up to the sacrophogus, all of them, and nothing happened. I turn off the mod, and poof, there she is.
Something in this mod is holding the Chosen back from spawning in thier antechamper.
Unfortunately, I have a bug to report. I can't prove it was this mod but it makes sense...
On the Assualt Warlock Stronghold mission, the Warlock didn't show. I have my troops wandering around his sacrophogus room with nothing to target and no way to leave. Pretty bummed because it was an Legendary Ironman run...

Another point to make the Chosen more unpredictable would be that any Chosen can attack anywhere, not only in their respective territory. In the base game you know exactly which Chosen you get (if you get one) based on where the mission takes place.
But for this to work I guess all Chosen would have to reveal themselves when you encounter the first one (whoever that might be)..
I would totally understand if you said that this wouldn`t be in the scope of this mod, though!
Would it be possible to alter this mod so that every mission without a Chosen increases the chance for one to appear in the next mission (by lets say 15 - 20 %)? What I would like would be to always have a chance of a Chosen to appear (even if one was there the last mission) but also a guarantee that you encounter a Chosen at least every four or five missions.
Basically I want the Chosen to be unpredicatable but also really relentless and a real thorn in my side.
Basically since you're averaging denominators you gotta use an harmonic mean (which favours smaller numbers), rather than an arythmetic one. But this is all beside the point, I wasn't discussing the appropiateness of 28% or anything.
Yes, while all the while, tracking, hunting, homing in on you Commander, taking hostages, extracting knowledge and making examples of anyone defying their masters agenda, it's a world wide man hunt, it takes time to allocated and co-ordinate efforts. :3
Yes, but if you recall from the Chosen Stronghold missions, the Chosen are able to regenerate quickly, in a matter of 5 turns or so. On the Geoscape, missions are usually several days apart, so surely the Chosen will have recovered by then.
@MrMister
Yes that is true. Which is why I selected 28% as the base chance to appear in Veteran (normal difficulty). I calculated it a little bit differently though; I charted the previous chance as "1 in 3.5" on average. If you divide 1/3.5 you get .28 (after dropping decimals) = 28%. Overall, you should still get nearly the same total number of appearance per campaign.
The LWOTC beta is currently on github.
Does this mod have a special effect on those missions? Did those missions ever have a guaranteed Chosen if one was available?
Yeah sorry - it's not THAT kind of appearance!
@BorgadnRager
In a new campaign, Chosen will not appear for the first 9 days (this is a base-game setting, but is configurable in the game files). After 9 days, the Chosen become "activated" and the game starts to roll dice each mission to see if a Chosen will appear. During that time, you may play 1 or 2 missions and the Chosen cannot appear. <-- That's probably why it seems like nothing has changed at first.
If you enabled "Lost and Abandoned", the Chosen will make their introductory appearance in that mission.
If you did not enable that mission, the Chosen will make an introductory appearance during the first Retaliation/ Haven Assault mission <-- this appearance I believe is a "guaranteed" appearance but haven't done enough testing to confirm.
