so get your lazy ayzz and download it from a random site or buy it for 1 dollar already
You can still use HL2 only and make it look good.
I'm pretty sure Keep Corpses is a clientside option you can turn on or off yourself... As for optimization, yeah, it's not great. I spent a whole day trying to optimize it and this end product is actually far better than what it started as, but yeah, still slowdown. There's not much more I can do to improve it without completely remaking the map, and reducing the enemy count would end up messing with the difficulty balance. Though in my experience this kind of NPC-heavy map is gonna be pretty laggy regardless, unfortunately. Hopefully V2 will be better whenever I get around to it. Check your mods too, though, there's a lot of visual mods which absolutely destroy performance especially on maps like this.
Thank you very much! Trust me, I plan on making more! I already have ideas as to how I'm gonna remake this map into a version 2. I learned many things making this which I hope to apply in future maps.
@Dirtov
The map progresses in a somewhat linear way, there's various triggers you pass through as you fight and play to give you constant combat (which is hopefully not too overwhelming) and eventually it does just become wave defense at the climax of the map. I've not made the map with any addons in mind like Stealth 2, and hypothetically it could work? But then you'll just have combine piling up outside which you'll have to somehow sift through when it comes time to make your way to the exit. I wouldn't recommend it but I'm curious as to how well or not it'd work.
Believe it or not that's technically nerfed from what I originally intended. (Previously all the troops in the house would rush out the front door immediately and you'd be beset with an army to deal with. Funny but not fun.) It's a map somewhat intended for multiplayer so I didn't want to nerf it further and be too easy, and I figured it wasn't a huge problem to need to keep respawning since I have that little checkpoint system in there. Just keep chipping at the enemies until you win~
