After I temporarily turned off the MOD you made, why did the container I built have no recovery nodes?

I need Stackable Storage, but I don't need Forgotten Buildings, you know,I hope you can issue Stackable Storage without Forgotten Buildings, could't you?

@Mechanica Oh thanks for info. I was searching for something like that, but missed that one. Well it dosent show up under "storage" search, so that is why i prob missed it :D Anyway i started playing now with genesis (after spending 200h in vanilla) so i am on halt with others mods for now.

@Acuru You can upgrade storage like that with this mod

How about instead of building storage on top, make tiered storages, so you can upgrade current ones, and it just adds another layer up, and increases space inside? It would then not interfere with workflow.

Nice! Thanks for the explanation, very helpful. I'll give it a try when I'm ready to come back to modding. :winter2019happydog:

@oi__io Thanks! There are a few steps to make this work. To be allowed to place a piece of furniture on top of an existing one, the two models must not overlap. The origin of the new object will be positioned on top of the collision box of the one below. So, to make something stackable:

1. Create a plane in Blender and scale it up
2. Import the MESH file and move it until it's entirely above the plane
3. Open the FCS and offset that building part by the same amount (Z axis in Blender = Y axis in Kenshi)
4. Create a new collision box that covers the top of the model in its new position
5. Export collision and delete/move/rename the old BIN and XML files

You can do a lot more than just stack barrels, I've already used these changes with throne platforms and bunk beds, and they'll make my Clutter mod a lot easier to use next time I update it.

Wow, good job man! I've been trying to figure out how to make storage stackable for the longest time and I just couldn't make it work so I give up. This is wonderful. How did you do it? Other than removing the nodes, what changes did you make to the collision? Repositioning it or making it smaller? Or is it more technical than that? :gk_heart:

@CALVARIO Forgotten Buildings is required. Stacking boxes was originally a feature of that mod, and it contains model and collision changes which are necessary for this to work.

If i understand correctly, this mod does work without Forgotten Buildings, right? Id like to stack the building material boxes in just vanilla.

It depends where they're placed. Characters can still auto haul, just not from every side of a storage box. As long as those sides aren't blocked by walls or other furniture, jobs should continue as normal, so there's a chance you won't need to turn the mod off. In my outpost only 20 boxes were affected out of around 250.

Nice mod, was thinking about making it myself. But sad to hear that Characters cant auto haul stuff to it.. Kenshi .. you wont make it easy for us ha ?
