Would you consider making Rimfridge affect food temp? Food stored in the fridge doesn't cool down to the fridge temp all though the meal will still count as frozen for rotting purposes

If you ever come back by and take another look at this, some more mods which could use hot/cold patches for their meals:

- Entomophagy (insect meals)
- Simple Tofu! (deep-fried tofu; although the rest of its meals seem to be caught automatically)

This mod is great! But here's a problem: if it is used with gastronomy, the waiter just won't use the microwave to heat up the food, and "hot meal was frozen solid -9":steamsad:

I can't say I designed my colony around it, but I did spontaneously decide to mass produce vodka and didn't realize something was actually broken with the vendors until I had well over 1,000 units stockpiled. Ugh!

@Inglix It was pretty depressing for me because I kind of designed a colony around selling tequila and chemshine during a zombie apocalypse and was far too invested in it by the time I figured out I couldn't sell it. Sad times

Here's the patch I created for myself to fix this incompatibility between Hot Meals and drinks from Vanilla Expanded. Now I'll finally be able to sell my huge stockpile of vodka!

@AuntyDonna I've been looking into solving this exact issue since Dametri doesn't seem particularly active lately. Hot Meals hijacks the categories (ThingCategoryDef) of each item it patches, so in the case of the drinks from Vanilla Brewing Expanded for example they all lose the "Drugs" category, which is how traders knew to buy/sell those items.

You can see another symptom of this in the stockpile settings, where the drinks no longer show up under Manufactured > Drugs like they're supposed to, but that's not game breaking because you can still find them under other categories in the stockpile settings.

I'm just in the process of testing a small Harmony patch locally that appears to fix the issue. If I don't immediately find any glaring bugs I'll post it on the workshop for everyone else to use.

Bug/mod conflict report:
Something about this mod is causing pretty much all traders to be unwilling to buy most vanilla expanded drinks (chemshine, tequila and whiskey being examples). I think the only ones they'll still buy are the ones that aren't yet patched by this mod (from the coffee/teas module).

Tested with just the vanilla expanded mod suite and thermodynamics core/hot meals. The problem goes away when thermodynamics is removed.

@Dametri pawns won't heat up their meals appropriately if the "clean before eating at table" setting in Common Sense mod is enabled. They will happily eat their rock-solid meal after sweeping up the dust and debris.

Probably worth adding to the description because it took me a fair bit to find the culprit in my list of some 189 mods.

This mod reclassifies meals in a way that ruins functionality in Empire mod, [i.imgur.com] and probably any other mods that use the Meals tag to refer to meals.

love this mod very much. however while using [SYR] Coffee and Tea all beverages are counted as hot drinks which is fine exept the hot chocolate. pawns will drink it frozen and complain that a hot drink was cold while the drink itself is categorized as cold drink

Hey, I have a suggestion and feel free to say no, but could we get a third category of drinks for lukewarm temperature? Things like spirits and wine would go here. You should realistically be able to just keep that stuff on a shelf and drink it at room temperature because that's what you do in real life. Currently this mod makes things like the wine racks from gloomy furniture not feasible for storing wine in, or other spirits.

Maybe you could add a mod option so you can set the state of food items added by mods? So perhaps you want colonists that like to eat their ice cream warm so you can set it to that instead [or perhaps even to be pedantic, individual tastes aka room temp beer versus cold beer].

+1 for the RimFridge bug for 1.2. Keeps foods frozen but won't cool them :(. I love the mod tho! always wondered how people in RimWorld were fine with eating ice blocks with their food inside :P

Bulk goods trader is no longer buying milk.
Other foods that changed categories seem to be affected as well.

I think it's more or less balanced. As you said you do have to build and power the thing, which you don't in vanilla. Plus it's not like you're gonna store all your meals in it. You still need a freezer, and the frozen meals still have to be periodically hauled or heated up by a pawn if they weren't hauled in time. I have both a heat lamp and a microwave in my dining area and tbh my pawns still make use of the microwave all the time.

Besides it's not like they don't exist in real life. It allows your mod to add realism without being too tedious.

@AuntyDonna basically removes the heating mechanic as soon as you get electricity, assuming you can afford the low build and power costs.

Edit: yeah I know the search radius function is in there, but it does have an upper limit on the distance. It's not a big deal for me. I can address it in other ways.

@AuntyDonna I think heatlamps are already kind of overpowered, so no plans for that.

I did add the option to increase search radius for a heating device. If it's not in this mod's options it's in Thermodynamics Core.

Interesting, the RimFridge Fridges are working fine for me. I've got desserts from VCE at -10C, and cold drinks at a nice 2C in RimFridge fridges. I'm still using 1.1 though, so maybe this but is a 1.2 thing.

@Dametri I have a request, could we possibly get single tile heat lamps in future? I wanna have lamps holding multiple different things (meals for cannibals, meals for non cannibals, hot drinks etc) but if I make a heat lamp and set it to hold both there's a good chance the pawns will just fill both tiles with the same type of item.

I'd also like to second what someone else said about increasing the search radius for a heating device. You can technically get around it by forcing them to carry a non-perishable meal instead, or forcing them to not carry a meal, but it'd be nice to have the flexibility.

+1 again regarding fridges. They "freeze" the meal but don't actually lower their temperature. I'm trying to use a fridge to store beer and even though it says it's "frosty" its actual temperature remains around ambient temp in the room.

Please give us the option to set the entire map as a search for heating and not just a range of up to 100. I live on -70 degrees ice sheet and pawns mental break when going mining because they decide to eat out there.
