Anyone who wants to make a successor to this patch for any purpose can do so.
Shizuri 28 Mar, 2023 @ 3:26am
Then what about Ethics and civics classic?
LittleRaskol  [author] 27 Mar, 2023 @ 3:52pm
This patch will no longer be maintained. Ethics and Civics Alternative - FunEFork by MrFunEGUY has built-in compatibility with GVP so I encourage you to just use that instead.
Scottish SocDem 11 Mar, 2023 @ 2:09am
I have the other version installed, nvm
Scottish SocDem 11 Mar, 2023 @ 2:08am
I think something is awry here, republicanism only allows for oligarchy (thankfully I use this form of government the most as an indirect democracy would be so chaotic and in most cases anti RP on a galactic scale). So its not an issue for me but yeah idk why it isn't allowing for indirect democracy.
Grand Admiral Thrawn 3 Jan, 2023 @ 9:28am
my game was really laggy when using this
LittleRaskol  [author] 21 Dec, 2022 @ 6:48pm
Nothing changed in the mod that would require a change here iirc, so the warning about being out of date is just a warning. Unless there is a problem to report.
SMmania123 21 Dec, 2022 @ 5:42pm
@LittleRaskol might need to update to 3.6 at this point.
LittleRaskol  [author] 23 Nov, 2022 @ 5:23am
Finally moved over a few (not very gameplay-impactful but important to the backend) changes from GVP.

By the way, looking over the Orion change notes, I don't really anticipate needing an update for the new version of Stellaris.
LittleRaskol  [author] 6 Oct, 2022 @ 3:22am
That's... actually very strange. There shouldn't be anything suppressing the GVP-added names in either this patch or the E&C mod.
Occred 5 Oct, 2022 @ 11:51pm
@Domituti - This seems to work just fine with 3.5.

Does anybody know if it's possible to retain GVP's empire naming conventions while using E&C and this? It works perfectly fine besides making empire names boringly vanilla again.
Domituti// 2 Oct, 2022 @ 6:59am
will we get a 3.5 update? I really liked this patch and was wondering of the eta
LittleRaskol  [author] 26 Aug, 2022 @ 6:36am
This patch requires content from both GVP and E&C, so it has to be positioned such that it can reference both. I think that's after both?
Potato 24 Aug, 2022 @ 10:17pm
or do I load the patch in between the mod like Gov, Patch, then Civics & Ethics ?
Potato 24 Aug, 2022 @ 10:15pm
so how does the mod loader looking like for this mod?

Do I put it like:
Government Variety - First
Ethics & Civics - Second
The Patch - Last ?

Added a link to a Bug Branch patch by AmberAmbitions for anyone looking for that.
LittleRaskol  [author] 12 Jun, 2022 @ 7:07am
This should be up to date now.
Pillowesque 31 May, 2022 @ 7:27am
Appreciate you patching this at all led alone on anyone's schedule but your own -- looking forward to bug branch compat. ^^
Porter 31 May, 2022 @ 1:47am
hey thank you for this
Boshy 26 May, 2022 @ 12:42am
Gotta wait for a bug branch compability too
LittleRaskol  [author] 25 May, 2022 @ 3:39am
When people start paying me a salary for this, they can expect answers to questions like that.
Spybot 24 May, 2022 @ 3:59pm
was updated yesterday so when would an update of this mod be expected?
LittleRaskol  [author] 20 May, 2022 @ 6:15am
It does not, but I have been thinking that since the mod this is a patch for seems somewhat abandoned, I should probably release a new patch for a similar mod (i.e., one adding the same kinds of ethics as the original) that is actually being kept up to date. It will probably be for Bug Branch since that is what I get asked the most about.
OnlyKarlos 18 May, 2022 @ 8:26pm
Does this compatibility patch work for Ethics and Civics: Bug Branch?
LittleRaskol  [author] 18 May, 2022 @ 7:16pm
I went back and forth on that one and I'm not sure anymore why I settled on allowing it even though, as you say, it's somewhat contrary to the historical idea. So I might change it.
CoffedCat 18 May, 2022 @ 12:51pm
I would venture to argue that Republicanism should be barred from Direct Democracy as its ideals are counter intuitive
LittleRaskol  [author] 16 May, 2022 @ 7:53am
It should work with the new version as well. I did not change any of the files this uses substantially. But I will change the required item.
Mestre d'Avis 16 May, 2022 @ 6:56am
It also needs to be updated to use the 3.4 version of the GVP mod (or at least list it as a requirement instead of the 3.3 version).
LittleRaskol  [author] 14 May, 2022 @ 5:30am
If it needs to be. Right now all I can think to do is change the listed compatible version number. How does it look in game, any errors?
taxel 13 May, 2022 @ 11:48pm
Will this be updated for 3.4?
LittleRaskol  [author] 24 Apr, 2022 @ 5:10pm
I can think of some ways to make it hurt but it would be a mess.
LittleRaskol  [author] 24 Apr, 2022 @ 5:04pm
Okay, that's... much more substantial. What's actually happening is that the original mod used the tokens "ethic_socialism" and "ethic_capitalism" for "Cooperative" and "Competitive" while bug branch changes the tokens to match the localization ("ethic_cooperative" and "ethic_competitive"). These internal tokens are what the game actually checks for. It's going to be a bit harder to make that work in one patch. So hm.
VickABit 24 Apr, 2022 @ 1:28pm
Bug Branch splits "Cooperative vs Competitive" into "Pluralist vs Elitist" and "Cooperative vs Competitive". Everything that was into Cooperative/Competitive has is now in Pluralist/Elitist and Cooperative/Competitive has no civics from this mod, as a result.
LittleRaskol  [author] 24 Apr, 2022 @ 5:47am
From looking through the civic and authority definitions in Bug Branch, it seems like the main thing I need to do here is check for its new corporate civics (either as a requirement or to preclude them). If I do that, I'll set this to be based primarily on Bug Branch but with a note that it will work with other versions of that family of mods.

I don't see (from looking at the files at least) what you mean by "Pluralist vs. Elitist appears to have fully subsumed Cooperative vs Competitive" can you elaborate?
LittleRaskol  [author] 24 Apr, 2022 @ 5:28am
Thanks for looking into this. I'm not sure how much time I have for a new patch, but there might be a way to make this one work with both. I will have to look at the bug branch and see.
VickABit 23 Apr, 2022 @ 11:08am
As predicted, Bugged Branch's extra ethics type (Pluralist vs Elitist) and extra corporate authorities do produce a lot of weird behavior. Most notably, the corporate authorities show the normal civics, as opposed to the megacorp civics, and Pluralist vs. Elitist appears to have fully subsumed Cooperative vs Competitive.
VickABit 23 Apr, 2022 @ 9:52am
For reference, I am *about* to test it, and will note how it goes here.
VickABit 23 Apr, 2022 @ 9:51am
There are some major differences in Bugged Branch over the others. Most notably, it adds 2 new authorities for megacorps and some of the big major civic tokens are different.

I haven't tested it, but I imagine the authorities at least might cause some problems.
✶ Fitz001 ✶ 27 Mar, 2022 @ 1:09pm
Came here to check that, cheers for clarifying it should work @LittleRaskol
LittleRaskol  [author] 19 Mar, 2022 @ 4:30am
From the description: "It will likely work on any fork of these mods as well."

There are a whole lot of variants of the mods this is a patch for. I am not making a patch for each fork when they all probably use the same internal tokens for ethics and therefore should work with this. If you know for a fact it does not, that could be worth looking into. I simply do not have the time to test every fork so... try it and see!
henk 19 Mar, 2022 @ 1:21am
Second that, a bug branch would be great :)
ComradeCorvus 12 Mar, 2022 @ 3:37pm
Will this work with "Ethics And Civics: Bug Branch" too?
LittleRaskol  [author] 7 Mar, 2022 @ 6:40pm
Try making a civic that has a requirement like: Egalitarian OR Democratic. If you can do it, and show me how, I will get rid of the duplicates.
edri 7 Mar, 2022 @ 6:27pm
> If both are available to be picked at the same time, that's a bug. Otherwise, it's a workaround to limitations in the way civics are defined.
Why is this workaround necessary? I've worked on a few mods and never had to make a workaround like this
matt_ryan2 4 Mar, 2022 @ 1:05pm
Thanks!
LittleRaskol  [author] 4 Mar, 2022 @ 11:58am
Yes
matt_ryan2 4 Mar, 2022 @ 10:39am
For load order, guessing this should load after GVP and Ethics & Civics Overhaul?
LittleRaskol  [author] 26 Feb, 2022 @ 9:38am
This has been updated for Stellaris 3.3 (Libra) and GVP v4.
LittleRaskol  [author] 10 Feb, 2022 @ 4:06am
If both are available to be picked at the same time, that's a bug. Otherwise, it's a workaround to limitations in the way civics are defined.
Shizuri 10 Feb, 2022 @ 12:09am
why is there two seperate republicanism?
