a mod that replaces actual audio with dead silence is somehow almost 300 mb, truly the optimization master of our time

y'know it's actually illegal to use the eas tones outside of emergency alerts, mainly to prevent it from losing its meaning but also because they can actually trigger real eas equipment

there is a video on youtube that details the aftermath following the black mesa incident leading all the way up to and bit past earths surrender to the combine. in reality it would be absolutely terrifying but the storytelling that halflife only shares bits and pieces of is really underappreciated.

even though i dont need the mod i think its really great that you made this, some people find EBS messages in general to be extremely anxiety-inducing and would rather avoid them outside of real-life emergency situations when possible and i totally get that. so thank you for helping people enjoy the game more and be more comfortable playing it!

Where do they exactly put them in dead silence? In every case I know about, theres always a loud soundtrack playing. Office Complex for example, has the music playing before the ebs even starts so I have to use the subtitles to understand what they're saying. Blast pit, the ambient track is playing, so not exactly dead silence. Surface Tension, there's lots of noise happening outside and if you step past the car, the ST3 music starts playing.

They put EBS alarm messages in dead silence places right!.
But for me it's not problem and even more interesting.

i know a lot of people like the EBS messages throughout the game because of how unsettling they are, but some (like myself) don't like them due to how loud they are and also due to how most of them are put in a places of dead silence, which can catch people like myself off guard when they start

I actually like the EAS alerts specifically because they're unsettling and add to the feel of impending doom throughout the game. They help drive home that the survival of the human race depends on you.
