I am pretty sure this mod causes crashes in campaign. I can't be sure, because it crashes anytime I try to look at a few greenskin armies or garrisons that I suspect may have a basilisk in them (the game becomes unplayable before I Norsca or Chaos, and I have never seen a Beastmen army with one in it), so I think this is DOA until it gets an update, if anyone else is trying to use it. It is either this, or the Squigadon unit mod.

While a cool mod, as a heads up I had multiplayer campaign desyncs when AI would go to recruit them and we ended up having to remove this for our coop playthrough.

Idk if you can do anything about this, but the Greenskins AI spams the crap out of these on campaign. It's a bit game-breaking.

Could you make a regiment of renown called 'Roko's Basilisk' that has the mindrazor spell. because, deadly thoughts and existential dread should be embodied in real form.

@waddysjunk - I never thought about spider legs. But as I said before. I had a chat with ChaoRobbie who is responsible for tons of awesome mods. And he said that either he could add 4 dangling legs or another 4 legs from a dragon ( because it uses the same skeleton ) and have new 4 legs be only static with no animation. So I rather have 4 legged basilisk cousins than 8 legs and 4 of them with no animation.

The best way if he were to do anything like that is to just have each real leg control 2 of the ones in the model so it can have 8.

I`m not sure if it possible to take part of skeleton from one model and attach to anotherone, but the only hypothetical way to make 8-legged creature is take "limb bones" from arachranor spiderskeleton and replace 'dragon limb bones" by them. However, lizard mving like spider could look weird.

Oh I know, but you give it BOTH the strider and ignore_trees attributes, that's what I meant! No point in giving him ignore_trees if he has strider. :)

@Maal - Ignore Forest is for trees only. But strider is for trees also and also for hills, water and other terrain. So far nothing breaks. Strider allows basilisk to run fast even on steep hills.

SFO patch mostly done beside some small balance tweaks I believe. SFO change dark venom to a non-ap steroid I think, so it might be a problem! But since it has more non-ap damage than ap-damage, it just give him a bigger but not AP boost, sort-of work too I guess.

Another small issue I've found. You give them both the strider and "forest strider" attribute. But the regular strider tooltip says it also allow it to ignore trees, so using both might be redundant, didn't test.

For everyone calling for a "dark elf" version. If you get tired of the requests but do not want to fully give in. Perhaps only allow them in an unique building in near the dragon isles that Dark elves could can build? So they can only get them in the "old world" so to speak. Perhaps even limit them to 2 so they stay limited. Just a random idea I had, I also share your idea that it's better to not give them to everybody.

Also - I will unlock basilisk for all factions in cutom battles. So you dont need to pick the main faction to use it.

@Maal - thank you for noticing! Gonna fix that right away. Also it was my idea all the time for it to be weak against anti large but very strong against normal units. ( swords and archers )
It even can deal with WAR LIONS. When it uses the dark venom its AP damage goes up by 90%. Thus making it very effective against armoured units. And its speed makes it a perfect flankers. I had AI running around and I jsut couldnt catch it. Until I used spell to make it stop and then used archers to kill it.

@Maeglin - I understand. But I want to be Old World to be Old World. What is the point of this unique monster of almost everyone across the map has access to it? Because even Empire or Elves can have basilisk. Powerful wizards are knwon to bind creatures to their will and then release it on their enemies.

They would be very thematic for Dark Elves. Exactly the sort of thing that Beastmasters would enjoy breeding. Them being from the Old World doesn't mean some Dark Elves couldn't have gone there, caught a few, and brought them back to raise in the dark places under Clar Karond. :) If they like warm places, they shouldn't be hanging out with Norsca ;)

Looking at the files while making a SFO patch, I see that you've listed the building wh_main_grn_monsters_2 twice in unit recruitment, I suppose that one of these is supposed to be wh_main_grn_monsters_3.

About balance, large units pretty much all get wrecked by mid-tier or higher anti-large units (except for stuff like the Rogue Idol). They just get surrounded and poked to death faster than they can attack back since the large unit just attack one side at a time while dozens of unit attack it from all sides. I do not believe you should try to make it stronger against it's direct counter tho, send it after not-anti-large units or with fodder-escort that will takes hits for it while its aura debuff the enemies.

@ Kil'jaeden - There is no reason to recruit 95% of Empire roster when you get your hands on hellstorm rockets. Basilisks are not just yet another monster. They are probably the faster monster you can get. Monster that can hide in forest.
1 basilisk can kill or wreck 1 unit alone. Not to mention -10 armour and -5 physical resistance debuff on enemies.
I will tie each of these to technologies. So when you get buffs for monsters they get it too.

Like most other extra unit mods this will be useless unless you add them to technologies and skill trees. Like how the guy who made Wyrm mod combined dragon and wyrms in same skill trees and technologies. There is just no reason to recruit these instead of Shaggoths, Mammoths or Trolls. Especially in the legendary difficulty.

Lizardmen will not get Basilisks. They already have tons of monsters. And I can confirm that ChaosRobbie will be adding Coatl ( Feathered serpent ) for Lizards. So stay tuned for that!
Reason why I dont want to give basilisks to other factions is that they live in Old World.

And to answer question about more 4 legs. I had a talk with ChaosRobbie about it. Either he could make dangling legs and thats about it. Skarskin has Gobla bound to his animation. And Robbie said that even if we had 2 dragon skeletons and had another 4 legs but a bit forward. But that would result in 4 legs with no animation and 4 legs with animation.
I know you might be sad we wont see 8 legs. But I am sad too. But I decided to made Basilisk anyway.

I also want feedback on how Basilisk perform and how they fit in your armies. Last time I tested them they were quite squishy when they got pinned down by halberds or anti large unit. But their speed proved to be awesome against normal infantry units.
