Example: It could have a story that talks about a slime girl who wanders The Constant, which is based on the Jelliet mod. Maybe you could make a story about a flower that was brought to life, based on Whimsy, which is another mod.
It would be a really cool addition, in my opinion. You don't have to make it, though. I myself am not a mod maker, but I understand the struggle that is part of the process of making a mod. I will see if I can play this mod with friends either way, it looks fun, and I'm tired of talking about the stupid freaking bog monster whenever I tell a story as Walter.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy it.
"These stories are taken from various sources on the internet" and "Some of these stories are very long, and it's unlikely you'll make them to the end without console commands and/or afking" and also "Many of these stories will not be lore friendly, obviously."
I highly recommend you read the description of the mod before complaining about things explicitly addressed in the description.
A lot of the stories kinda just ramble on too.
I don't actually know what would happen if you did that. Even if done right, I would *assume* there'd be some kind of de-sync from different string lengths or data being passed, but it could end up handling itself fine with no more than odd timing for the speech.
That's assuming the game would allow an altered version at the same time as a non-altered version, which it probably would since I think it only checks the version number in the modinfo.
If that can't happen, if I rewrite one of the stories can the other players see what I wrote, or will they see the old story?
I have to remove any line breaks and then run it through a website that replaces special versions of symbols with the simple versions so Walter doesn't have massive blank gaps where punctuation is, then replace " with \" and then return it inside its own file as a massive string and add the configuration options.
I'm glad you like it!
@Chazzed
That would either require writing it out or finding existing writes and "purifying" them of invalid symbols...While I might still add some more stories here that's because I'm taking this mod a lot more seriously than I'd take that.
If someone wants to use what I've constructed to do that and add me to the contributor list (though they'd need Hornet's perms as well because my code does use his in a portion of it) I'm fine with them using what I put together. It's not too difficult to add more stories once you verify they're what you'd want, it's just slightly time consuming because of the way web pages tend to format things you copy.
We get Scary Stories and Bee Movie Script. But we also get Bee Movie Script
Something I've noticed with creepypasta is, to a rather large extent, quality is subjective. No horror stories scare me and the ones I enjoy the most tend to be the ones that make you stop and think, and I know a lot of people don't agree with that taste.
For the most part there won't be any obviously memey ones (Does Jeff the Killer count? He is technically a classic but nowadays he's classified as a crappypasta) but in case someone doesn't agree with what I include, there's always an enable/disable configuration for each individual story.
I do want to include classic horror stories and urban legends that might not hold up nowadays, which is why I added a childish telling of Tailypo despite there being the occasional adult version.
TL;DR
There's an option to disable each individual story so if one doesn't match your standards, you can just turn it off.
Thank you! And agreed
That's a different mod.
